For Worlds 2026, Riot announced 19 places: three each for the LCK, LCS, LCP, LEC and LPL; two for CBLOL; and two tied to MSI. Most teams qualify through their region’s own Split 3 and playoff system, so there is no single standings formula shared by every league. The MSI champion earns a place only if its team also qualifies for its home-region playoffs.
How many Worlds 2026 places does each region get?
Riot’s March 22, 2026 announcement says 19 teams will qualify. The allocation combines domestic league places with two MSI-related routes:

| Route | Worlds places |
|---|---|
| LCK | 3 |
| LCS | 3 |
| LCP | 3 |
| LEC | 3 |
| LPL | 3 |
| CBLOL | 2 |
| MSI champion | 1, conditional on the champion’s team qualifying for its home-region playoffs |
| Region whose team finishes second at MSI | 1 additional place for that region’s domestic league |
The MSI routes are distinct. The champion’s invite is tied to that team and depends on its home-region playoff qualification; the runner-up-region benefit adds a place to that region’s domestic allocation.
How do teams qualify through their regional leagues?
Teams generally earn Worlds places through the final regional split and its playoff competition. Riot’s 2026 season overview places Split 3 before Worlds and says Split 2 results qualify teams to MSI. However, Riot says each of the six leagues runs its own split format. Standings, playoff entry, bracket design and tie-break rules are not one universal system.

How does MSI affect Worlds qualification and seeding?
MSI can change both the number of places available to a region and how qualified teams are seeded. The MSI champion earns a Worlds invite subject to the home-region playoff condition; the region represented by the MSI runner-up receives an additional domestic place. Riot also says regional performance, including results at MSI 2026, will inform seeding. It had not yet announced the 2026 seeding details in its March 22 update, so a specific seed order should not be treated as settled based on that announcement.
