I used Gemini to turn planning requests into Google Keep checklists, find relevant notes, and add new items to existing lists. That workflow saved me hours of planning, in my experience—but Google’s documentation establishes what the tools can do, not a typical or measured time saving. To use it, connect Gemini and Keep on the same account, then review what Gemini saves.
What Gemini can do with Google Keep
With the relevant connected-app access enabled, Gemini can find Keep notes, use note content in a conversation, create notes or lists, and add items to an existing list. You can ask it to turn a goal into task steps, collect recipe ingredients, or retrieve notes about a subject. Google’s examples are documented prompt patterns, not a guarantee that every response will be correct.

For example, you could ask: Tell me what steps I need to take to plan a weekend move. Then create a list in Keep. To look for existing material, ask: Do I have any notes related to moving? To append tasks to a list, try: Add book a moving van and collect boxes to my list called Moving. Google also says that mentioning @Google Keep can direct Gemini to the app.

Set up access before asking Gemini to use Keep
- Sign in to Gemini with the same Google account you use for Keep.
- Make sure Keep Activity is on in your Gemini settings.
- Connect Google Workspace to Gemini so it can access supported Workspace apps, including Keep. Google’s instructions are in Capture your ideas & notes with Gemini Apps.
- If you use a work or school account, check with your administrator if Keep does not appear or requests fail. Admin settings can restrict Workspace app access; Google’s admin guide to controlling Gemini app access to Workspace services also says Gemini conversation history must be on to use Workspace apps.
Google announced the Workspace app connections on July 16, 2025, alongside information about how connected apps handle data. Use Gemini to build or extend a planning list
Turn a goal into a checklist
State the goal and ask for a Keep list. A specific request helps make the output actionable: include the deadline, constraints, or categories you care about. For example: Break planning a two-day conference into tasks, grouped by venue, speakers, and attendee communications. Create a list in Keep. Open the resulting list and check that the tasks reflect your actual plan.

Find notes you already have
Ask a direct question such as Do I have any notes related to the conference venue? Gemini can use relevant note content in the conversation, which may help you avoid starting from scratch. If you need a particular list, ask for it by name, such as Find my Conference planning list.
Add items to an existing list
When you want to preserve a list you have already started, name it explicitly and say what to add: Add confirm catering numbers and send the speaker schedule to my list called Conference planning. If Gemini seems unsure which app to use, include @Google Keep in the request.
Review what Gemini saves
Gemini can make mistakes or use outdated information. Google’s Keep and Gemini help page explicitly warns that “Gemini Apps can hallucinate responses or provide outdated information.” Treat generated plans as drafts: open the linked note or list, verify names, dates, quantities, and omitted steps, and correct anything that does not fit. For factual answers, review any sources Gemini shows with its response.
Google says actions can be undone through a confirmation notification or by editing the linked list. It also notes that notes created in Gemini Live may not be undoable. The feature does not support sharing notes or lists, viewing images or drawings in them, or adding images.

What the “saved me hours” claim means
The time saving is my account of using this workflow, not a result established by a productivity study. Google’s documentation describes the Keep actions Gemini supports, and its July 2025 announcement describes the connected-app feature; neither establishes how much time users typically save. The practical benefit is reducing the effort of drafting and organizing lists, while the user still checks the plan and owns the decisions.
