Honor of Kings esports connects open grassroots competition to regional professional leagues and international tournaments, while separate events let players represent their countries. There is no single qualification route or universal match format: both vary by event and season. The 2026 structure includes regional circuits such as IKL, MKL, PKL, CHOKBR and KML, alongside global club tournaments and national competitions.
How the competition pathway fits together
The ecosystem has several layers, but it is not a guaranteed ladder in which every team advances through the same steps. The Open Series is an official grassroots and semi-pro route; regional leagues are separate professional circuits; and international events use event-specific qualification rules.

- Open Series: An entry point for grassroots and semi-pro teams. The publisher described the series as open without rank restrictions and as a pathway toward Regional Pro Leagues and global events. In 2026, Open Series Split 6 was identified as a route to the Regional Pro Leagues. Level Infinite and TiMi Studio’s 2025 roadmap also reported that more than 150,000 players had signed up for Split 3; that is a historical participation figure, not a current-season count.
- Regional professional leagues: Teams compete in region-specific circuits. League names, schedules and opportunities to qualify for international events are season-dependent.
- International club events: Teams can reach global tournaments through regional performance and other routes announced for that event. The field and qualification structure can change from year to year.
- National events: In competitions such as the Esports Nations Cup and Asian Games, players represent countries rather than their regular club teams. These are distinct from the regional league system.
Which regional leagues are listed for 2026?
The official 2026 listings include five named regional circuits. Treat the season label as part of the event name: a spring or fall schedule is not a permanent calendar for that league.

The official Honor of Kings esports listings show event pages and schedules; consult the relevant page for current team rosters, qualification rules, match formats and broadcast details rather than assuming they are identical across leagues.

How qualification for global events can change
Global tournaments do not necessarily use the same field-building method each year. For the 2025 King Pro League World Championship (KWC), the publisher said 18 teams from regional leagues would qualify, alongside that year’s KPL Spring champion. That description applies to the 2025 event, not to later editions. The 2025 roadmap sets out that year’s plan.
The 2026 KWC at the Esports World Cup used a different setup: it brought together Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor teams. Its format is a useful example of one international event, not a template for every Honor of Kings tournament.
How KWC at EWC26 worked
The 2026 KWC at EWC26 featured 20 teams from Honor of Kings and Arena of Valor, a $3 million USD prize pool, and a dedicated tournament patch based on Honor of Kings Season 15 with 111 playable heroes. Those details describe that event’s field and rules. The stages announced in July 2026 were:

The event used Global Ban&Pick. The July announcement specified Ultimate Battle draft mode for the best-of-seven grand final. The July 1, 2026 announcement provides the event-specific lineup and format.

The tournament concluded in August: Kuaishou Gaming (KSG) beat AG.AL 4–3 in the final, while Geekay Esports defeated ROC Esports 3–0 in the third-place match. The results and the announced second-half calendar were reported in Honor of Kings’ August 10, 2026 update.

As of the publisher’s August 10, 2026 update, the year’s second half was set to include several different kinds of competition:

- KIC2026: The year-end global club tournament was announced for December, with 16 teams expected.
- Esports Nations Cup (ENC): Honor of Kings was listed for November 24–29 in Riyadh, with 24 teams announced. This is a country-representation competition, not another regional league.
- Asian Games: Honor of Kings was listed as an official medal event in Nagoya on September 27–28, also in a national representation context.
- Women’s competition: The official listings include Women’s Series 3. The August update also said more than 36 teams were expected for KWS4, with an offline final.
These are announced 2026 details and can change. For the listed regional spring and fall events, the official site showed date ranges including IKL Spring (February 27–April 12), MKL Spring (February 26–April 5), PKL Spring (February 20–March 29), CHOKBR Fall (February 20–April 12), and KML Spring (March 12–22). Check the specific event page for the current schedule, since dates are volatile.

- Region and qualification route: Find out which league or other route put the teams into the event.
- Club or country: Regional leagues and KWC are club competitions; the ENC and Asian Games are national representation contexts.
- Stage and match length: Group stages, elimination rounds and match lengths differ. KWC at EWC26, for example, used best-of-three matches in its early stages and best-of-seven in most playoff matches.
- Game rules: Look for a dedicated patch, hero pool, draft rules or cross-title field. KWC at EWC26 combined two games and used a special patch.
