Rockstar’s GTA Online starter advice describes two options: call Lester to remove a wanted level for a fee, or use tunnels as one way to evade police. These are Online-specific tips; they should not be assumed to describe every GTA game or mode.

Rockstar’s 2013 Title Update 1.06 notes recorded a Lester removal price of GTA$200 per star. That is a historical price from that update, not confirmation of the current fee.
What is known about police searches
The official GTA V manual establishes the wanted display, but the available official material does not explain a complete search sequence: it does not verify how search areas work, whether line of sight or a last-known location governs a pursuit, or how long a search takes to end. - Survive a three-star wanted level for five minutes to make an unmarked cruiser available for purchase.
- Naturally lose a four- or five-star wanted level to unlock the Police Riot.
These are unlock requirements, not evidence of the full police response at three, four, or five stars.
Creator activity settings
In Rockstar’s Race Creator guide, enabling the Wanted Level option allows police to chase race participants. Separately, Rockstar’s Title Update 1.72 notes, dated January 27, 2026, say that Wanted Level Options were added to the Mission Creator. These examples concern created activities; they do not define every rule in Story Mode or Freemode.

What this means if you are trying to lose a wanted level
- Playing GTA Online: Rockstar documents calling Lester for removal at a fee and using tunnels to evade police. The cited 2013 price should not be treated as current.
- Building a race or mission: Creator settings can enable wanted-level behavior, and the Race Creator guide specifically says police can chase participants when its Wanted Level option is enabled.
