Rockstar’s preview names six radio stations covering Latin, country, African, metal, pop and Southern rap formats. It has also announced Justice as the composers of the score and Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a 34-track release scheduled for November 19. The complete radio roster, full song list and detailed playback controls have not been published, so the mechanics below distinguish confirmed information from expectations based on earlier Grand Theft Auto games.
What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA VI’s audio
Rockstar describes GTA VI as having “the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio and podcasts yet.” That wording confirms that radio and spoken-word programming are both core parts of the game, rather than treating the soundtrack as a simple list of songs.

The official preview identifies six stations. They span markedly different formats and are associated with named presenters, which is consistent with the series’ long-running format of mixing music, DJ links, commercials, jingles and talk segments into an in-world broadcast.

These are the six stations named in the preview, not necessarily the complete launch lineup. Rockstar has not said how many additional stations will be present, whether every station will be available from the beginning, or whether stations will change as the story progresses.

What each previewed station suggests
Cocoteo
Cocoteo is positioned around modern Latin music and is hosted by El Martillo and La Gata. The description establishes a contemporary Latin identity, but it does not provide individual songs, a subgenre breakdown or information about whether the presenters are fictional characters with scripted story roles.
Back Country Radio
Back Country Radio is the country outlet, labeled “renegade country,” with MW and Delta Dawne as hosts. “Renegade” is Rockstar’s format description rather than a promise that every selection will fit one narrowly defined country subgenre.
Afro Bank FM
Afro Bank FM combines amapiano, African classics and 3-step. That combination indicates a deliberately broad African music brief instead of a station limited to one current dance style. Burna and Palmsy are the listed hosts.

The Chamber
The Chamber supplies the metal format, hosted by DJ Kerry and DJ Tom. Rockstar has not published whether the station is divided into eras or styles of metal, nor has it identified its track rotation.

Flash FM
Flash FM is the pop station and is described as a Vice City institution. Robyn and Alex host it. The name connects the station to the fictional city’s established radio identity, but the preview does not say which earlier presentation elements, if any, return.
Dirty South Classics
Dirty South Classics focuses on regional rap and hip-hop classics and is hosted by Trick and Trina. “Classics” describes the station’s programming approach; it does not constitute a complete dated playlist.
How the licensed radio is likely to work
The strongest evidence for the basic interaction model comes from Rockstar’s 2002 Vice City soundtrack announcement with Sony Music Entertainment. That release said players could tune the radio in every car to one of many stations. It described a complete broadcast experience built from licensed songs, commercials, jingles and DJs, and reported more than 80 tracks for Vice City’s radio lineup.

Presenter links and interstitial audio should make stations feel like persistent parts of the world, while licensed recordings provide the musical identity of each format.

The precedent does not establish GTA VI’s exact implementation. Rockstar has not documented:
- the final number of stations;
- whether songs play in a fixed order, a shuffle, or a context-sensitive rotation;
- whether players can skip individual songs;
- whether the selected station persists after leaving and re-entering a vehicle;
- how radio behaves during missions, cutscenes or combat;
- whether headphones or walking outside a vehicle provide access to the stations;
- whether players can mute commercials or presenter segments; or
- whether user-created music or custom stations are supported.
Those details should remain open questions until Rockstar publishes a feature guide or the game is available.
What songs are in GTA 6?
Rockstar has not released the complete GTA VI radio tracklist. The public information currently consists of station formats and a separate album announcement. It is therefore not accurate to present the announced album singles as the full in-game radio playlist.
The announced project, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, contains 34 original tracks. Rockstar says the collection is intended to capture the energy of Vice City and Leonida and describes its roster as genre-defying. The following singles have been named:

Those titles are the singles identified in Rockstar’s announcement, not a substitute for the remaining album tracks or the radio station playlists. A song can be part of the album, appear on a station, serve promotional purposes outside the game, or occupy more than one of those roles; Rockstar has not mapped every album track to a station.

GTA VI’s licensed music should not be confused with its original score. Rockstar’s launch-trailer announcement credits Justice as the composers of the GTA VI original score. In practical terms, the score is the music Rockstar creates for missions, cinematic sequences and other game-directed moments, while radio programming is presented as music being broadcast within the fictional world.
The distinction matters when a scene changes mood. A mission may use Justice’s score for tension or spectacle, then return to the selected station when the player resumes ordinary driving. That is a likely division of labor, not a published guarantee about every transition or whether players can override it.

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is a third category: a standalone release with 34 original tracks and a physical product component. Rockstar has linked to vinyl and CD pre-orders. Availability, regional editions and final fulfillment dates can change, so buyers should check the live product listing for the edition and territory they need.

Will GTA 6 have podcasts?
Yes. Rockstar explicitly includes podcasts in its description of GTA VI’s audio offering. The announcement does not yet identify the complete podcast lineup, episode lengths, presenters, release schedule or the interface used to select episodes.
It also does not establish whether podcasts behave like radio stations, whether episodes are available on demand, or whether dialogue reacts to story progress. Earlier Grand Theft Auto games used talk programming as part of their satirical world-building, but the existence of podcasts alone is not evidence for a particular playback system in GTA VI.
Can you listen to the radio outside a car?
Rockstar has not confirmed this. The documented Vice City precedent specifically describes tuning the radio in every car, which supports an in-vehicle broadcast model. It does not answer whether GTA VI will offer a portable radio, headphones, a phone interface, a replay menu or any other way to continue listening while walking.

There is no official confirmation of a station wheel, favorite-station shortcut, song history, skip button, volume separation for music and dialogue, or custom playlists. Treat claims about those features as speculation unless Rockstar documents them.
How GTA VI’s audio compares with the series precedent
Vice City established the franchise’s most clearly documented radio pattern: multiple selectable stations, licensed songs, DJs, jingles and commercials, with more than 80 tracks reported for that game in 2002. GTA VI’s preview keeps that broadcast concept while adding a formally confirmed podcast layer and a separate 34-track album announcement.
The meaningful comparison is therefore not simply the number of songs. It is the combination of genre breadth, presenter-led programming, spoken-word content, mission score and the availability of a physical soundtrack product. GTA VI already shows breadth across six named formats, but its final station count and complete playlist remain unpublished.
What to verify when Rockstar publishes more details
- Full station roster: confirm whether the six previewed stations are the entire lineup or only the first announced group.
- Complete radio tracklist: distinguish songs licensed for broadcasts from tracks appearing only on the album.
- Podcast controls: check whether episodes are live-style broadcasts, selectable recordings or both.
- Vehicle and mission behavior: look for details on station persistence, automatic ducking and transitions into score music.
- Player controls: verify skip, shuffle, favorites, mute and portable-listening options rather than relying on assumptions from earlier games.
- Physical editions: confirm the region, pressing, contents and shipping terms of any vinyl or CD listing before ordering.
For now, the reliable picture is a layered system: genre-specific radio with named hosts, podcasts as an additional spoken-word format, Justice’s original mission and cinematic score, and a 34-track album scheduled for November 19. The artistic scope is clear; the detailed playlist and playback rules are still to come from Rockstar.
