A community demonstrator reported running the PS5 version of God of War: Sons of Sparta on Windows using AnyPS5, a compatibility project that relinks executables and reimplements system-library support instead of emulating the PS5 CPU. The October 3, 2026 demonstration is experimental—not an official PC release or verified compatibility guarantee.
What “without PS5 emulation” means here
AnyPS5 describes itself as an automatic executable-porting tool for Linux and Windows. Its README says it relinks an executable into the host system’s native format and provides implementations of PS5 system PRX libraries for dynamic linking. The project says it does not use emulation or a separate runtime process.

In the Sons of Sparta demonstration, the poster says the game’s x86-64 code runs directly on the PC’s processor, while compatibility support handles missing PS5 system libraries and graphics. That is the demonstrator’s account, not an independently audited technical analysis. “Without emulation” means avoiding CPU emulation; it does not mean every PS5 operating-system call or graphics function runs natively without translation or reimplementation.

In a post dated October 3, 2026, the demonstrator said the game booted into gameplay, with music and sound effects, and that keyboard, mouse, and controller input worked. They reported “around 60 FPS” on their own PC, which they identified as a Ryzen 7 5800X3D with an RTX 5070 Ti. That is one poster’s report on one setup, not a benchmark or an expected frame rate for other systems.

Reported limitations
- Shaders compile during initial play, and the poster reported visual glitches until they were cached.
- The intro video could remain on a dark frame for about 10 seconds.
- Occasional crashes or freezes occurred.
- The poster had not completed the game and said large portions were untested.
- Testing was limited to NVIDIA hardware; the post did not establish results for AMD or Intel GPUs.
These caveats mean the post supports a claim that the game was demonstrated running, not that it is fully playable from beginning to end or reliable on typical PCs.
How the report compares with official support
PlayStation’s official FAQ and Store listing identify God of War: Sons of Sparta as a PS5 game. The reviewed official sources do not establish a supported Windows release. The reported AnyPS5 run is therefore a community compatibility demonstration, not a Sony PC port.

What is known about AnyPS5 verification
AnyPS5’s README lists Dreaming Sarah as a verified game; it does not list Sons of Sparta as verified. The community post is evidence of a reported run, not project-listed verification or broad compatibility testing. The cited sources also do not establish whether compatibility changes across game updates, whether Sony authorizes this method, or how game files are obtained.

PlayStation’s February 13, 2026 blog describes God of War: Sons of Sparta as a retro-inspired 2D action platformer developed with Mega Cat Studios. Its canon story follows Kratos and his brother Deimos during the Agoge. PlayStation’s FAQ gives February 12, 2026 as the PS5 release date and identifies Standard and Digital Deluxe editions.
