Fortnite Locker presets let you save a named combination of cosmetics and bring it back later. Use Favorites for a different job: marking individual items so you can filter for them while browsing. You can also save and delete presets in several Locker categories, not just Character.
How do I create a Preset in Fortnite?
- Open the Locker and choose the cosmetics you want in the combination.
- Select Save Character.
- Choose an empty preset space.
- Enter a name that will help you recognize the combination, then save it.
Epic describes this as creating a preset or loadout. The instructions are available in Epic’s preset guide and Epic’s loadout guide. The cited instructions do not establish a current maximum number of character presets.

Presets or Favorites: which should you use?
| Tool | What it does | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Presets | Save a named combination of cosmetics for reuse. | You want to restore a complete look instead of selecting each item again. |
| Favorites | Mark individual cosmetics and filter an item list to show Favorites. | You want to find a particular outfit or other item quickly. |
How to favorite and find individual cosmetics
- In the relevant Locker item category, mark an item as a favorite. On console, Epic documents holding the left stick; on PC, open the ellipsis menu and choose Favorite Item.
- Open Sort + Filter, select Favorites, and apply the filter.
These controls are from Epic’s Favorites instructions. Favorites do not save a full cosmetic combination.

Choose names that are easy to scan
Use a short, consistent naming scheme based on how you recognize a look: for example, a color palette, character theme, or mode you tend to play. Keep related combinations mentally grouped by using similar wording. This is a naming habit, not a claim that Fortnite provides preset folders, tags, or custom sorting.

Presets cover more than Character
Epic’s deletion instructions list presets in several Locker sections: Character (outfit, back bling, pickaxe, glider, contrail, and aura), Emotes, Wraps, Lobby (banner, lobby music, and loading screen), Instruments, Cars, and Jam Tracks. To remove one, open its section, find the preset, open the ellipsis menu, and choose Delete. Check that you have selected the intended preset before confirming the deletion. See Epic’s preset deletion guide.
Why have my locker loadouts been rearranged after the v34.10 Update?
Epic’s explanation is that indexless loadouts arrived with v34.10 and that empty tiles are removed when a preset is deleted. As a result, entries that were separated by empty positions can appear closer together afterward. This is Epic’s described behavior, not evidence that a preset’s contents have changed; do not rely on an empty tile to preserve a numbered position. The explanation appears in Epic’s v34.10 loadout explanation.

Epic’s April 9, 2024 v29.20 announcement said cosmetic Series labels, including Icon Series and Gaming Legends Series, would remain to help players find items after Shop and Locker changes. That announcement is historical context; it does not establish every current filter or sorting option. Locker controls can change with updates, and the cited sources do not establish exact control parity across all platforms.
