Fortnite’s Item Shop refreshes around 0:00 AM GMT, but Epic does not publish a timetable for when any particular cosmetic will return. An item currently for sale has a planned removal time in its details; once it leaves, the only official advice is to check the shop again. A limited exception applies to some newer Pass items: eligible items may be offered at least 18 months after the Pass expires, with no guarantee.
That shop availability rule is separate from Fortnite’s refund tools. Cancel Purchase and Return Tickets reverse an eligible purchase you already made; they do not put a cosmetic back into the shop or predict its next appearance.

How the Item Shop rotation works
Epic describes the Item Shop as a catalog that “constantly rotates Items.” It contains outfits, bundles, special offers and other cosmetics, with new combinations appearing as older offers leave. The rotation is an availability system, not a published calendar for every cosmetic. Refresh time: around 0:00 AM GMT
Epic Support says the in-game Item Shop and the Webshop refresh at around 0:00 AM GMT. “Around” matters: it is not a promise of an exact second, and a brief delay or service issue can make the change appear later. The support explanation is at When does Fortnite’s Item Shop refresh?.

Use the shop’s About Shop information for your own time zone rather than converting GMT manually. On April 9, 2024, Epic said it removed the single overall refresh countdown and would show rotation timing in each player’s unique time zone. That update also introduced an item-level planned rotation-out time; the announcement is documented in New and Upcoming Fortnite Shop and Locker Changes.
What a refresh can and cannot tell you
- A refresh can replace today’s offers with another set of offers.
- The detail page for a listed item can show when that current offer is planned to leave.
- A refresh does not reveal the next date for an item that has already left.
- Past appearances, community calendars and historical shop logs document what happened before; they do not establish an Epic-approved future schedule.
There is no official statistic such as “skins return every 30 days.” Epic has not published a return-frequency study, so treat any predicted interval as community speculation rather than a guarantee.

How to check when a current cosmetic will leave
Epic provides a removal time only for an item that is presently listed. Check it before buying if you need the offer to remain available until a particular date.
- Open Fortnite and enter the Item Shop, or open the official Webshop.
- Select the outfit, emote, bundle or other cosmetic you want to inspect.
- Open the item’s detail view.
- Look directly below the Purchase button for the planned removal date and time.
- Read the displayed time in the local time zone used by your shop interface, and allow for the fact that a planned time is not a promise that the item will return later.
Epic’s step-by-step support article is How to check when an item will be removed and unavailable for purchase. The date answers “How long is this offer expected to remain?” It does not answer “When will it be offered again?”

Will a missed cosmetic return?
Ordinary Item Shop cosmetics
They may return, but Epic does not publish a reliable next-return date for an individual cosmetic. The support position is to check the shop; Support cannot grant an item that is not currently available. A cosmetic’s previous appearances therefore show availability history, not a contractual cycle.
If you are waiting for a specific item, the practical approach is to check after each rotation and follow Epic’s official announcements for exceptional releases. Do not spend V-Bucks on a substitute solely because a community post predicts a long absence, and do not assume that a recent appearance means another one is due soon.

Pass items: a narrow eligibility rule
Epic introduced a limited possibility for newer Pass content. Its Pass FAQ says that, starting with Chapter 5 Season 4, Pass items might be offered in the Item Shop 18 or more months after the Pass expires. A separate support explanation describes items released after August 7, 2024 in similar terms: they may be available at least 18 months after a Pass expires. The 18-month figure is an eligibility threshold in a policy, not a return statistic. If a qualifying Pass expired on a known date, the threshold would mark the earliest point at which shop availability might be allowed; Epic could still choose not to list the item.

Readers often use “return” to mean two unrelated events. A shop return makes a cosmetic available for a new purchase. A purchase return removes a cosmetic you already bought and restores V-Bucks when the purchase qualifies. Neither event causes the other.

Cancel Purchase
Cancel Purchase is the short, immediate window for a V-Bucks shop purchase. If you equip the item in gameplay, the cancellation option ends immediately. If you do not equip it, the option ends after 24 hours, whichever condition occurs first. This process concerns your transaction; it does not signal that the cosmetic will reappear for other players.
Return Tickets
After the cancellation window, an eligible purchase can be returned with a ticket for up to 30 days. Using a ticket removes the cosmetic from your account and restores the V-Bucks; it does not reserve the cosmetic for later, extend shop availability or force another listing. A practical decision process before buying
- Check the item’s planned removal time. Find it beneath the Purchase button and note the displayed local time.
- Decide whether you need it now. A removal time tells you when this offer may end, not when it will return.
- Check whether it is Pass content. If it falls under the newer Pass policy, remember that 18 months is only the earliest possible eligibility point and that no return is guaranteed.
- Keep refund rules separate. If you buy and change your mind, check Cancel Purchase immediately; equipping the item can end that option. For a later eligible return, verify that you are within the 30-day window and have a ticket available.
- Record your own purchase and rotation details. Screenshots of the item page, price and removal time can help you distinguish an expired offer from a transaction problem, but they cannot create a future return date.
Common misunderstandings and how to resolve them
- “The timer tells me when the skin comes back.” It does not. The timer or date below Purchase concerns the current offer’s planned removal.
- “The shop resets at exactly midnight everywhere.” Epic says around 0:00 AM GMT and directs players to the About Shop information for their own time zone. Local calendar dates can differ from GMT.
- “A cosmetic that appeared before must return on the same schedule.” Previous appearances are historical records, not a guaranteed interval.
- “The 18-month Pass rule means every old Battle Pass skin will be sold.” The rule is limited to the newer scope Epic describes, and even qualifying items might never be offered.
- “Using a Return Ticket puts the item back into the Item Shop.” A ticket reverses your purchase and restores V-Bucks; it has no shop-rotation effect.
- “Support can add a missing shop cosmetic to my account.” Epic’s return guidance says Support cannot grant an item that is not currently available.
What is actually knowable about a future return
You can know the current shop’s displayed removal time, the approximate daily refresh point and the published Pass eligibility rule. You cannot know an ordinary cosmetic’s next appearance from Epic’s public documentation. That distinction is important when planning V-Bucks: buy based on the offer you can see now, not on an assumed return date.
For the latest status, inspect the Item Shop in-game, read its About Shop time-zone information and open the item details. Use Epic’s support pages for policy changes, and treat third-party calendars as historical references rather than promises.
