Authenticate with the Nintendo Account used by the relevant Switch user profile, approve the connection, and launch the game to verify your data. Do not create a new Epic account or unlink an existing connection until you know which account holds your progress.
Before you start
- The email address and password for the existing Epic Games account containing the progress you want.
- The login for the correct Nintendo Account.
- A phone, tablet, or computer browser, or the Switch running the relevant Epic-published game.
- A Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, or Switch 2 user profile associated with that Nintendo Account.
Nintendo and Epic Games accounts are separate. Their email addresses do not have to match; Epic says a platform account may use a different email address from the Epic account connected to it. See Epic’s account-upgrade guidance.
Link Nintendo from a phone or computer
- Sign out of Epic Games. Open Epic Games in your browser and sign out. A private/incognito window is useful if an old session keeps reappearing.
- Sign in to the existing Epic account. Use its Epic email address and password. Do not begin with the Nintendo login button unless you have already confirmed that Nintendo opens the account containing your data.
- Open Linked accounts. Open the account menu, choose Account (or account settings), and select Linked accounts. Epic identifies this page as the place to inspect and manage console connections; see Epic’s linked-account instructions.
- Choose Link under Nintendo. Select the Nintendo platform entry. A Nintendo sign-in window should open.
- Authenticate with Nintendo. Enter the Nintendo Account credentials belonging to the Switch profile that will play the game. Check the account shown before accepting.
- Approve the authorization. Complete the prompts. Return to Epic’s Linked accounts page and confirm that Nintendo is listed.
- Launch the game on the console. Open Fortnite, Fall Guys, or Rocket League and check that the expected account data appears.
Epic’s browser procedure is documented at this Epic support page. Nintendo also describes website linking in its Nintendo Account and Epic Account instructions.
Link during the first game launch on Switch
Nintendo says you can start an Epic-published game on the Switch and link from its first-launch flow. When prompted, choose the option to sign in to an existing Epic Games account, then enter the credentials for the account with your desired progress. Do not choose account creation merely because the console offers it. Prompts vary by game and software version, so the browser method above is usually easier to verify.
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
Confirm that the correct account is connected
- Sign in to Epic and open Account → Linked accounts.
- Confirm that the intended Nintendo Account appears.
- Check the Epic display name and account email.
- Launch the game and look for the expected skins, items, inventory, level, or progression.
If the expected content is missing, stop playing on the newly opened account while you investigate. Continuing to play can make an account mix-up harder to untangle.
What transfers—and what may not
For supported Epic games, Epic says progression and purchases are stored on the Epic Games account. Nintendo says progress and eligible purchases can be shared across platforms when the same Epic Account is linked, but its statement specifically excludes unused in-game currency such as V-Bucks.

| Data type | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Game progression | Generally available across linked platforms for supported titles when it belongs to the same Epic account. |
| Eligible items and purchases | May be shared for supported games, but availability depends on the title, platform, and item type. |
| Unused V-Bucks and other currency | Do not assume they transfer. Nintendo’s shared-data statement excludes unused in-game currency such as V-Bucks. |
| Different platform profiles | Progress from separate Epic accounts cannot simply be combined. Decide which account’s data you need before changing links. |

Do not unlink casually
Unlinking does not merge accounts or move progress. Epic warns that the console can lose access to progress and purchases stored on the Epic account; launching the game afterward may create a new, empty Epic account. The original Epic account and its data may still exist, but the unlinked console no longer reaches them through that connection. Rocket League inventory and XP can also be affected.

Nintendo says only one Nintendo Account can be linked to an Epic Account and warns that a different Nintendo Account cannot normally be linked afterward, even after unlinking. Epic documents a restriction-removal process that may permit a replacement platform account, but says that process can be used only once every 365 days. These first-party instructions are not fully aligned, so replacement is not guaranteed. Do not unlink to test an account; contact Epic Support first if the connection matters.

“This Nintendo account is already linked to another Epic Games account”
The Nintendo Account is connected to another Epic account, which may be a different account you own or an automatically created incomplete account. Sign out of Epic, choose the Nintendo sign-in icon, and authenticate with that Nintendo Account. Inspect the Epic account that opens before changing anything. This is the account-identification route described in Epic’s platform-account guidance.

“You previously linked a different Nintendo account to your Epic Games account”
Epic’s documented sequence is to unlink the currently connected account of the same platform type if appropriate, cancel an active Crew subscription on the account being removed, remove the linking restriction, then return to Linked accounts and choose Link again. Restriction removal is limited to once per 365 days. Nintendo’s separate guidance says a different Nintendo Account may not be linkable after unlinking, so follow only an option actually shown in your account and do not assume success. Read Epic’s Nintendo-progress article before proceeding.
An automatically created Epic account exists
If you first played without registering an Epic account, Epic may have created an incomplete account lacking an email address, password, display name, or name fields. Complete that existing account rather than unlinking it. Removing it can make the console lose access to its game data. Epic explains this account type in its account-upgrade instructions.

The Nintendo login opens the wrong Epic account
- Sign out completely and retry in a private browser window.
- Verify that you selected the Nintendo Account attached to the intended Switch profile.
- Remember that Nintendo and Epic email addresses can differ.
- Check whether the Nintendo connection leads to an automatically created account.
Progress is missing after linking
- Confirm Nintendo appears under Linked accounts.
- Confirm you signed in to the Epic account that held the original progress.
- Check whether the title supports shared progression for the specific item or currency.
- Check another platform: progress on separate Epic accounts cannot be combined.
You have an active Fortnite Crew subscription
If you are removing a platform connection, Epic advises canceling an active Crew subscription on the platform account being removed first. This warning applies to changing or removing an existing link, not to ordinary first-time linking.
When to contact Epic Support
Contact Epic before unlinking when you cannot identify the account holding the Nintendo connection, the account contains valuable progression or purchases, the Nintendo Account is attached to an incomplete account, restriction removal is unavailable or fails, or you need to replace a Nintendo Account. Avoid third-party “account-linking” services and never give your Nintendo or Epic credentials to them.
