The updated Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser adds a cold-drink setting to its hot-chocolate routine, but its appeal depends on how often you’ll use it—and whether you’re happy to clean it by hand. T3 reported it at £94.95 on Amazon, reduced from £119.95, in an article published 6 October 2026. T3 called that the machine’s “cheapest-ever” price; that claim is not independently verified by a price-history record here, and the offer may change.
Is the All-New Velvetiser worth buying?
It may be worthwhile for someone who regularly makes chocolate drinks and values having both hot and cold preparation in one machine. T3’s review describes a redesign that can make hot chocolate and a lighter cold chocolate drink for serving over ice. Its reviewer, Lizzie Wilmot, reported a preparation time of about two to three minutes and said the machine was surprisingly quiet in her test. Those are her observations, not guaranteed results for every recipe or serving.

The drawbacks are the price and the upkeep: this is a specialist appliance, and T3 says its components are not dishwasher-safe. If you mainly want occasional hot chocolate, the updated model’s extra cold setting may not justify paying more than for a hot-only alternative.

T3’s deal article, published 6 October 2026, reported the updated All-New Velvetiser at Amazon for £94.95, down from £119.95, in chalk, pewter and pebble finishes. The article described the offer as part of Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale and called it the machine’s cheapest-ever price. That is T3’s characterization; no independent lifetime price chart is available here to confirm the record. - SMOOTH MILK CHOCOLATE BALANCE – A creamy 50% cocoa blend delivering gentle cacao depth with soft milkiness for a smooth, rounded hot chocolate that’s rich yet easy-drinking.
- REAL CHOCOLATE FLAKES - Crafted with shaved chocolate flakes, not conventional cocoa powder. Keeping the cocoa butter creates a smoother melt, creamier texture, and richer chocolate flavor.
- MORE CACAO, LESS SUGAR - Crafted for those who prefer a richer chocolate taste with a more balanced sweetness level.
- PERFECT FOR ANY OCCASION – Great as an afternoon treat, dessert drink, or make it iced for summer refreshment.
- ETHICALLY SOURCED - As with all of our recipes, you can be sure that all the ingredients have been ethically sourced.
For context, T3’s 19 September 2025 review gave the updated model a UK launch price of £149.95. These are dated prices reported by T3, not a guarantee of today’s price.
What changed in the updated Velvetiser?
In its hands-on review, T3 describes the All-New model as a redesign with a fluted, cacao-pod-inspired body, a petal-shaped magnetic whisk, internal ridges, an ash-wood handle and a dial with colour-coded lights. The key functional addition is cold preparation: T3 says the cold setting stirs more slowly to create a lighter texture for serving over ice, while the original model was hot-only. These product details are reported by T3 rather than independently verified here.
For hot drinks, Wilmot says the machine gently melts real chocolate. She found it quiet, but noted there was no audible completion signal; she watched for the LED to switch off instead. Her review reports a two-to-three-minute preparation time in her test, which can vary with the drink and serving.

- Chocolatier Imagined. Obsessively engineered: Introducing the only system for hot and cold drinking chocolate. Unlock a library of chocolatier imagined flavor. The all new Velvetiser - drinking chocolate as it should be.
- The Vortex Effect: Combining a custom designed whisk with patent-protected innovation, the all new Velvetiser's Vortex-Effect creates an unrivalled texture.
- Hot & Cold Capabilities: Engineered to work in harmony with our hot and new cold drinking chocolate recipes, the Velvetiser’s thermodynamic programming has two settings: one for hot chocolate, one for cold. Its hot chocolate setting melds real chocolate flakes at approximately 155-157 degrees Farenheit, the optimum melting point for chocolate. Its cold chocolate setting is uniquely calibrated to pulse at the beginning, gently melding finely milled real chocolate with pre-chilled milk.
- US Power Supply: No assembly required, manufactured for US power outlets.
- InnerPod Ridges: Patented ridges act as barrier to flow, condensing these air passages to aid the melding process and stabilise the vortex.
What are the trade-offs?
- Hand cleaning: T3 says the machine and its components are not dishwasher-safe. Wilmot describes rinsing by running the whisk in water with a couple of drops of washing-up liquid.
- Premium appliance cost: even at the reported deal price, the machine is a purchase for a specific use rather than an all-purpose kitchen appliance.
- Ongoing ingredients: chocolate sachets or flakes add recurring cost. T3’s review discusses sachets and multiple flavours, but does not establish that only Hotel Chocolat ingredients work.
- Manual completion check: in the reviewer’s test, the machine did not sound an alert when the drink was ready; she watched for the indicator light to switch off.
How does it compare with the original Velvetiser and Dualit Cocoatiser?
T3 names the original Velvetiser and Dualit Cocoatiser as alternatives, but does not provide a same-date price comparison or controlled head-to-head test. The useful distinction is whether you need cold drinks, alongside current price, cleaning, included vessels and ingredient costs.
| Option | What the cited T3 coverage establishes | Best fit to consider |
|---|---|---|
| All-New Velvetiser | Hot and cold chocolate; T3 reported a £149.95 UK launch price in 2025 and £94.95 at Amazon in its 6 October 2026 deal article. The latter report mentions ceramic Podcup and Podglass serving vessels. | Someone who expects to use both settings and values the included serving vessels. |
| Original Velvetiser | Hot-only model. A T3 deal article on 28 November 2024 reported £74.99, reduced from £99.95, for the charcoal version; that was a historical deal for the earlier model, not a current price comparison. | Someone focused on hot chocolate who finds a current listing at a lower price. |
| Dualit Cocoatiser | T3 names it as a more affordable hot-chocolate alternative, but the cited review does not give a comparable price or controlled performance result. | Someone comparing hot-only options who verifies current price, included accessories and cleaning requirements. |
Because the cited coverage does not test the alternatives side by side, it does not establish an overall winner. Compare live listings and the features that matter to your use rather than treating an older deal price as a current benchmark.
Quick Recap
Who should consider buying it?
- Consider it if you make chocolate drinks often, want a cold-drink option as well as hot chocolate, and accept manual washing.
- Compare hot-only models first if cold chocolate is unlikely to become part of your routine or you want to keep the appliance spend lower.
- Wait or skip it if you make chocolate drinks only occasionally, are not comfortable hand-cleaning the parts, or the live price is not attractive to you.
