Hotel Cala is the planned rebrand of the former Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk at 200 N. Ashley Drive, but its exact opening year has not been confirmed. An October 7, 2026 report says it is expected to open in January without naming the year, so readers should not assume that means January 2027.
When will Hotel Cala open?
The October 7, 2026 report says Hotel Cala will open “in January,” while its headline describes the opening as happening “next year.” Because the report body does not identify the year, the available information does not establish a precise opening date. The sources also do not confirm whether reservations are available.

Hotel Cala or Hilton would need to confirm the year and current timing before travelers can use the date for booking plans.
Where is the hotel?
The planned hotel is at 200 N. Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa, on the Hillsborough River and the Tampa Riverwalk. It occupies the former Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk site and is planned to join Hilton’s Curio Collection after renovation. The October 2026 report and Smith Hill Capital’s April 24, 2026 announcement describe the project.

What is planned for Hotel Cala?
Smith Hill Capital says the renovation will include redesigned guestrooms, reimagined meeting and event spaces, enhanced waterfront public areas, façade work, and a destination pool deck. The company announced that Bain Capital and Smith Hill Capital completed a $94 million refinancing for the renovation and rebranding of the 281-key property.
The October 2026 report describes the seven-story property as having 281 rooms, including 16 suites, and 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Those specifications are reported project figures, not independently established measurements.

Dining and guest amenities
Plans reported for the hotel include direct Riverwalk access and a resort-style pool deck. The report also names LAVO, an upscale Italian dining concept, and BarOnda, described as a more casual spot for cocktails and smaller plates. Tao Hospitality Group is reported to manage both restaurants. These are announced plans, not confirmation that the features will be operating when the hotel opens.
