What the displayed plans cost—and why the prices do not settle the choice
The advertised rates use different currencies, introductory periods, renewal terms, and plan allowances. A lower promotional rate is not necessarily a lower total cost over the period you expect to host a site.

| Provider and plan | Displayed introductory price and term | Displayed renewal | Listed allowances |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hostinger Premium | $2.99/month equivalent on a 48-month term; $143.52 prepaid | $10.99/month | 3 websites, 20 GB SSD storage, domain free for 1 year, weekly backups |
| Hostinger Unlimited | $3.99/month equivalent on a 48-month term; $191.52 prepaid | $16.99/month | Unlimited websites, 50 GB NVMe storage, daily backups |
| Fasthosts entry plan | 49p/month for 12 months | £4/month | 1 website, 100 GB SSD storage, 1 first-year free domain |
| Fasthosts Grow | 99p/month for 12 months | £8/month | 3 websites, 250 GB SSD storage, 2 first-year free domains, 2 email addresses, 2 one-year SSL certificates |
Hostinger’s monthly figures are term-based equivalents: its official page says plans are paid upfront and that the monthly rate divides the total by the number of months. Fasthosts lists unlimited bandwidth across its web-hosting plans, and says its displayed UK prices include VAT at 20%. Confirm the final cart total, applicable taxes, and terms for either provider. Hostinger’s plan page and Fasthosts’ UK web-hosting page are the sources for these displayed offers and allowances.

Compare the commitment, not just the first bill
Work out the total you would pay across your likely ownership period, including the prepaid term and any renewal months. Also check whether you need to pay separately for a domain, email, SSL, backups, or other essentials after any included period ends. These plan details are not identical, so compare the configuration you need rather than treating the table as a like-for-like specification.
#1 Best Overall
Which plan fits the site you want to run?
One small website
Start with the lowest tier that meets your needs for storage, backups, domain, SSL, and email. Fasthosts’ entry plan lists one website and 100 GB SSD storage; Hostinger Premium lists three websites and 20 GB SSD storage. Those figures alone do not determine value: the providers quote different currencies and terms, and the right allowance depends on your site and anticipated growth.
Several websites or more frequent backups
Fasthosts Grow lists three websites and 250 GB SSD storage, along with two email addresses, two first-year free domains, and two one-year SSL certificates. Hostinger Unlimited lists unlimited websites, 50 GB NVMe storage, and daily backups. Consider the number of sites, storage type and limit, and backup frequency together; “unlimited websites” does not mean unlimited storage or guarantee that every resource is unlimited.
WordPress or WooCommerce
Fasthosts’ managed WordPress page says its plans support the latest WordPress version and PHP 8.3 and 8.2. It also describes website statistics, WP Scan-powered vulnerability checks, malware scanning, and access to WooCommerce. These are provider-described features, not independent confirmation of performance or support quality. See Fasthosts’ managed WordPress details and confirm which features are included in the specific plan you intend to buy. The page notes that WordPress itself is free, but a hosting package and domain name are needed to make a site accessible online.
How to compare the two hosts before checkout
- Set your time horizon. Decide how long you expect to keep the hosting, then calculate the prepaid amount plus renewal charges for that period.
- Match the essential allowances. Check website count, storage type and amount, databases or resource limits where stated, bandwidth terms, and whether the tier supports your expected growth.
- Inspect backups and recovery. Compare backup frequency, whether on-demand backups are available, the restore process, and which tier includes each feature. The displayed offers specify weekly backups for Hostinger Premium and daily backups for Hostinger Unlimited; the cited Fasthosts web-hosting page does not establish comparable backup details for the listed plans.
- Verify included services and their duration. Confirm the domain period, SSL coverage, email mailbox allowance, and whether those inclusions renew or expire. Do not assume a first-year inclusion continues for the life of the hosting plan.
- Check the location and support you need. If your audience or compliance needs make data-centre location important, confirm the location for the exact product. Both providers advertise 24/7 support, but availability claims do not demonstrate response quality; check which contact channels are offered for your plan.
- Review the final order. Recheck the checkout total, billing frequency, renewal rate, VAT or other applicable taxes, and any add-ons before confirming.
Fasthosts’ June 19, 2026 comparison article says it assessed ten shared-hosting providers against six criteria: entry pricing including renewal, storage amount and type, UK data-centre availability, SSL, support, and the value and flexibility of the entry plan. Those are useful questions to ask, though the article is published by a provider being compared. Read Fasthosts’ comparison criteria.

What performance evidence can—and cannot—tell you
TechRadar’s 2026 UK web-hosting review reports a GTmetrix result of 0.607 seconds for its Hostinger test website and says the reviewer experienced no uptime issues during the test period. That is a result from one test setup, not a promise for another site and not a direct comparison with Fasthosts. The review also notes that the reviewer found no telephone support. See TechRadar’s UK hosting review.
VPSBenchmarks’ page, last updated August 27, 2026, says it tested eight VPS plans from the two providers. VPS is a different hosting category from ordinary shared hosting, and the displayed plans use different currencies; this evidence cannot establish which provider’s shared hosting is faster. Review the VPS comparison’s scope.

So, which web host should you choose?
Choose based on the plan that meets your needs at an acceptable total cost—not on the headline introductory price or an unmatched speed figure. A longer-term buyer should pay close attention to upfront commitment and renewal economics; a multi-site owner should check the exact site and storage limits; and a WordPress customer should verify the features and support channels included with the chosen tier. The available sources do not establish a universal winner or a matched shared-hosting performance result.
