Hostinger Reach can send a follow-up based on what subscribers did with a specific campaign: send one to people who did not open it, or to people who opened it but did not click. To build the workflow, choose the campaign and follow-up template, activate the automation, send the campaign, add a wait, set the engagement condition, and customize the follow-up message.

Choose the right follow-up for the campaign

Reach offers two campaign-based follow-up options. The first targets subscribers who did not open a selected campaign. The second targets subscribers who opened it but did not click a link during the evaluation period. These workflows are tied to the campaign you choose, so the condition measures engagement with that campaign rather than general subscriber inactivity. Hostinger’s follow-up automation guide demonstrates the non-clickers template.

Follow-up type Who receives it Message approach
Did not open Subscribers who did not open the selected campaign Try a different subject line and preview text, since they have not seen the original email
Opened but did not click Subscribers who opened the selected campaign but clicked no link in the evaluation period Make the next action or offer clearer, with a more action-focused call to action

Set up a campaign-based automation

1. Create the follow-up workflow

  1. From the Reach dashboard, open Automations and create a new automation.
  2. Choose the campaign follow-up type, then select the template for subscribers who did not open or who opened but did not click.
  3. In the detailed follow-up guide, the selected trigger campaign must be in Draft status. Select the draft in the workflow. Editor options may vary; use the campaign statuses available in your current Reach editor.
  4. Activate the automation, then open Campaigns and send the selected draft. The follow-up automation begins monitoring engagement after the campaign is sent.

Hostinger’s newer drip automation guide describes a Campaign Sent trigger where Draft and Scheduled campaigns are available. For this specific re-engagement setup, the detailed follow-up guide describes selecting a Draft campaign, so follow the options shown in the current editor rather than assuming both workflows have identical campaign requirements.

2. Add a wait

Add a delay before Reach evaluates engagement. The delay can be a relative duration in hours, days, or weeks, or a fixed date and time. The follow-up guide describes two to three days as a common period for subscribers to check email; its best-practices section separately recommends waiting at least one day. Treat these as guidance, not a mandatory setting.

A relative wait is usually the practical choice for a behavior-based follow-up: it gives each recipient the same amount of time after the campaign is sent. Choose a fixed date and time when the follow-up needs to align with an event or deadline.

3. Choose the engagement condition

Set the condition to match the intended audience: did not open, or opened but did not click. The condition can evaluate a campaign selected in the condition step. By default, it uses the trigger campaign, but the guide says you can change that selection. When a subscriber meets the condition, the automation continues to the email step.

4. Customize the follow-up email

  • For non-openers: Consider changing the subject line and preview text. The recipient has not seen the original email, so a follow-up that simply repeats its framing may not give them a reason to open.
  • For non-clickers: Make the offer or next action easier to understand, and use a clear, action-focused call to action.
  • For either group: Keep the message brief and avoid excessive reminders.

How this differs from Reach’s segment-triggered re-engagement

Reach also provides a separate set of re-engagement templates: inactivity win-back, anniversary reward, and feedback request. These are triggered when a contact joins a chosen segment, not when a selected campaign is sent. The campaign follow-up reacts to a recipient’s response to one campaign; a segment-triggered workflow can instead reflect longer-term behavior or a milestone.

Workflow Starts when Audience logic Eligibility timing
Campaign-based follow-up The selected campaign is sent Subscriber did not open, or opened but did not click that campaign Engagement is evaluated after the campaign send and configured wait
Segment-triggered re-engagement A contact joins the chosen segment Segment membership, such as inactivity or a milestone Documented for contacts joining after activation, not contacts already in the segment

For segment-triggered automations, settings can determine whether the workflow runs every time a contact joins or only for new contacts; CSV-imported contacts are excluded from the latter behavior. Segments can use conditions such as subscription status, campaign engagement, source, and tags. Hostinger’s Audience Segmentation guide says free Reach supports up to three usable segments, while paid plans support unlimited segments for campaigns and automations. Confirm current plan details in Reach, as features can change.

Review the automation report and adjust carefully

Reach’s automation report shows started, in-progress, completed, and failed counts. Step details include opens, clicks, CTOR, bounce rate, unsubscribe rate, email details, click maps, and recipient data. Review whether recipients engage and watch for changes in bounces or unsubscribes before extending a sequence. These are available reporting measures, not evidence that a particular follow-up will improve a campaign’s results.
