To manage checkout in a Hostinger AI Builder online store, open Store Manager → Settings → Checkout. From there you can attach Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy links, require customer details such as a phone number or a custom field, set the checkout language, and save your changes. Two limits apply before you start: the checkout page’s layout and design cannot be edited yet, and store management requires an active Hostinger Ecommerce subscription.
Confirm access before you start
Store management is part of Hostinger’s Ecommerce offering, so the store needs an active Ecommerce subscription before the checkout controls appear. The route into Store Manager depends on how your website was built, so check which mode you are in first.

Once you are in Store Manager, checkout sits alongside the other store settings: store identity, payment, shipping, tax, invoices and email. The checkout controls themselves are under Settings → Checkout.

The Checkout policies section supports three policy types: Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and Refund Policy. For each one, you choose between two link methods. Customers are asked to agree to the policies before they pay, so the links should point to pages that are live and accurate.
#1 Best Overall
- Dual alphanumeric thermal printers
- 200 departments
- 10,000 price look ups
- 40 clerk IDs
- Cash, check, or charge sales registrations
| Link method | Availability | What you need | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website Builder Page | Manual mode only | A legal page created on your site, with its required fields completed | Adds the page to your site and can display it in the checkout footer |
| Custom link | Availability by mode not stated in Hostinger’s checkout settings guide | A URL you already have, such as a policy hosted elsewhere | Links the policy to the URL you enter |
Hostinger’s guide does not describe any difference in legal adequacy between the two methods. Choose based on whether you want to build the page inside Hostinger or link to a page that already exists.
Option 1: Website Builder Page (manual mode)
- In Store Manager, go to Settings → Checkout and open the Checkout policies section.
- For the policy you want to add, choose Website Builder Page.
- Add the legal page to your site and complete its required fields.
- Enable Add to checkout footer.
- Submit. The link then appears back in Store Manager under the policy you selected.
Option 2: Custom link
- In Store Manager, go to Settings → Checkout and open the Checkout policies section.
- For the policy you want to add, choose Custom link.
- Enter the full URL of the policy page and save.
Collect only the customer details you need
The Custom options area lets you require extra information at checkout. Ask only for what you need to fulfil the order, because every extra required field adds friction to the purchase.
Require a phone number
Under Custom options, turn on the phone number requirement if delivery or order handling depends on contacting the buyer by phone. If it is not needed for fulfilment, leave it off.

Add a custom checkout field
You can add a custom field to the checkout form and mark it as required. Use this only for information the order actually depends on, such as a delivery instruction or a reference number your business needs. Save the field and check that it appears correctly on the published checkout after you update the site.
Set the checkout language
The Checkout language setting controls the language used on the shopping bag, the checkout itself and invoices. Set it to the language your customers read, and confirm the invoice language too, since it follows the same setting.

Review email consent and payment methods
Hostinger’s checkout settings guide also covers two adjacent controls:
- Email-marketing consent at checkout. The guide notes that you can offer a consent option during checkout. Confirm the wording and the default with your own marketing rules before you enable it.
- Payment methods. You can enable manual or offline payment methods, or remove payment methods you do not want to offer. The guide does not provide a list of payment methods available in every country or account, so check what appears in your own store.
Save, update and check the shopping bag
Changes do not reach customers until you save and update the website.
- Select Save in the checkout settings after your edits.
- Update the website so the changes are published.
- If you use manual mode and want the shopping bag visible or hidden, go to the header settings and enable or disable it there. This is a header control, not a checkout control.
What you cannot change yet
Hostinger’s checkout settings guide states: “The checkout page itself cannot be edited, i.e., changing its structure, layout, or design is not yet supported.” This is a current product limitation described in that guide, not a general rule for ecommerce platforms. Plan your store’s look around the settings above, and check Hostinger’s guide for updates if you need more control over the checkout page.
Test the checkout after you publish
After you change checkout settings, place a test order on the published website. Hostinger’s guide “How to fix online store payment and checkout issues” advises testing payments on the live site, not only in the editor. Confirm that the policy links appear in the checkout footer, that the required fields behave as you set them, that the checkout language is correct, and that the invoice shows the expected language.
Hostinger’s documentation describes these controls as they currently appear. Navigation labels and availability by mode can change, so confirm the exact menu names in your own dashboard before you publish a guide for your customers.
