In a Hostinger AI Builder online store, you accept bank cards by connecting a payment provider: Stripe, PayPal, or both. Hostinger’s Help Center puts it this way: “If you use Hostinger AI Builder to run your online store and want to accept bank card payments, you may use PayPal, Stripe, or both.” Which provider you can use, and what it costs, depends on your business location, store currency and account eligibility.
Set up card payments step by step
- Open your store’s management area in the builder and go to Settings → Payments. Labels can shift as Hostinger updates the interface, so look for the payments section if the wording differs.
- Choose Stripe, PayPal, or both. Base the choice on whether you are eligible in your country, whether the provider supports your store currency, and how you want customers to pay.
- Connect the provider using the steps in the sections below.
- Check the transaction fee shown in the payment settings. Hostinger says the page shows rates for your business location and currency.
- Test on the published site, not only in preview (see the testing section below).
Connecting Stripe
Enable Stripe in the payment settings, then sign in to an existing Stripe account or create one. Review the details Stripe asks for and submit them. According to Hostinger, card payments are enabled by default once Stripe is connected, so there is no separate card toggle to hunt for.

Depending on your store’s region and currency, Stripe may also offer wallets and local payment methods. Apple Pay is one example. It has domain and device or browser requirements, so treat it as an optional extra that some shoppers will see and others won’t.
Connecting PayPal
Hostinger’s AI Builder setup requires a PayPal Business account. Personal PayPal accounts are not supported in this setup. Once PayPal is enabled, buyers can pay with their PayPal account or type in bank-card details at checkout.

Stripe or PayPal: what to compare
| Factor | Stripe | PayPal |
|---|---|---|
| Account needed | Stripe account, created or connected during setup | PayPal Business account |
| Card payments | Enabled by default after connecting | Customers can enter card details at checkout |
| Other ways to pay | Wallets and regional methods, depending on store region and currency | Customer’s PayPal account |
| Fees | Vary by business location and currency; shown in payment settings | Vary by business location and currency; shown in payment settings |
Hostinger’s documentation does not name a universal winner or a single fee that applies everywhere. Using both gives shoppers a choice between a card-first checkout and a PayPal-account option.
Regional availability and local providers
Available methods depend on your store’s country, your currency and where the customer is. Hostinger also names Razorpay for India-based businesses and Paysera when the store location is Lithuania. Hostinger’s Stripe article mentions processing in 135+ currencies. That describes what Stripe can process, not a guarantee that your store, country or customers are covered, so confirm your own currency in the settings.

Test before you launch
Hostinger’s checkout troubleshooting guide warns that preview mode may not accurately test Stripe payments. Check the published site’s checkout and confirm that the provider connection shows as active.

- Check regional settings. Your store’s country and currency decide which providers appear.
- Check the account type. A personal PayPal account will not work; you need a Business account.
- Check Apple Pay requirements. If a wallet is not showing, the domain setup and the shopper’s device or browser may be the cause.
- Test live, not in preview. A Stripe problem seen in preview may not exist on the live site.
Do you need a card reader?
No. The documented setup is purely online: you connect provider accounts in the builder and no hardware is involved. A card reader or POS system only matters if you also sell in person.
