Hosting.com is worth shortlisting for technically comfortable users who want shared hosting with published resource allocations, but it is not an automatic upgrade for former A2 Hosting customers or a safe choice for every business-critical site. The brand changed in 2025, current advertised prices are introductory, and an independent Starter-plan test found strong uptime over its test window but frequent brief outages and weaker global performance without a CDN. Check the exact renewal price, account terms, backup process, and migration requirements before committing.
What happened to A2 Hosting?
Hosting.com is the current public identity of A2 Hosting. Hosting.com says it brings World Host Group and A2 Hosting under one global brand; iTechGuides reports that the rebrand was announced on April 28, 2025. Hosting.com’s about page describes A2 Hosting’s origins in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and presents the current business as a continuation and combination of brands. This establishes the brand relationship, not that every legacy customer has moved to the same infrastructure or now has the same plan terms. Hosting.com’s company background · iTechGuides’ review

How much does Hosting.com cost in 2026?
Hosting.com’s comparison page lists the following one-year introductory prices for shared hosting. These are advertised starting prices, not a lifetime rate or a universal checkout total. The homepage can show different offers, and the final amount can depend on country, term, taxes, add-ons, and the date you order. Plan comparison · Hosting.com homepage

The comparison page gives resource ranges across the lineup rather than separately stating every tier’s RAM, CPU, IOPS, and I/O bandwidth. The ranges should not be read as an individual plan’s specification. Confirm the selected plan’s allocation on the current order page. Hosting.com plan comparison
What will Hosting.com charge at renewal?
The provider’s billing FAQ says promotional prices apply to new orders and services renew automatically unless canceled. The reviewed material does not establish a single renewal price that applies across countries, products, terms, and order dates. Before paying, check the cart and billing terms for the renewal rate, billing period, taxes, add-ons, and cancellation deadline; save the checkout details with your invoice. Hosting.com billing FAQ

How well does Hosting.com perform?
The clearest recent independent results in the available evidence come from Hostingstep’s Starter-plan test, not a universal service guarantee. Hostingstep monitored its test site from October 1, 2025 through May 31, 2026, using Pingdom checks from 19 US locations every 60 seconds for TTFB. It recorded a 500 ms average US TTFB, 99.96% uptime, 49 outages, and 2 hours 12 minutes of total downtime across 349,920 checks. Hostingstep’s Hosting.com test
In a separate load test, Hostingstep reported a 43 ms average response time and zero errors with 0–100 concurrent users over 60 seconds. It also described US response performance as adequate for a small US-audience site, while noting weaker global performance without a CDN. These are measurements of one test site, plan, monitoring setup, and period; they do not predict the speed or uptime of an individual customer’s site. Hostingstep’s test methodology and results
Rank #3
The 99.96% result is above Hosting.com’s stated 99.9% commitment, but the outage count illustrates why the percentage alone is incomplete: a site can have many short interruptions while its overall availability remains high. For a business where brief outages are costly, ask about incident reporting, support escalation, and service-credit terms rather than treating a single uptime figure as proof of low risk. What do Hosting.com’s plans include?
Hosting.com advertises LiteSpeed, NVMe storage, AMD EPYC CPUs, a web application firewall (WAF), malware protection, brute-force detection, daily backups, and 30-day restore options in its current comparison materials. Those are provider claims about the catalog; verify which features and backup coverage apply to the specific plan you choose. In particular, ask whether backups include databases and email, how long each component is retained, and how to request and complete a restore. Hosting.com plan comparison

Hostingstep did not find a CDN included with the tested plan and reported below-average hardware benchmark results. A CDN can help deliver cached content nearer to visitors, but it is not the same as improving the underlying hosting environment. Check whether CDN service is included, separately configured, or something you need to arrange yourself. Hostingstep’s test

Hosting.com advertises free managed migration, 24/7 in-house support, and a 30-day money-back guarantee on its homepage. Treat these as starting points for questions, not a substitute for confirming what the migration covers and how the guarantee applies to your order. Ask whether the offer includes your application, databases, mailboxes, DNS changes, and the specific control panel transition you need. Hosting.com homepage
iTechGuides notes that moving a legacy cPanel account to an Enhance-based package may involve a new IP address, DNS changes, and application testing. Before changing nameservers or canceling the old service, confirm the target panel, export or backup method, mail routing, DNS records, SSL, and a rollback plan. Test the site and email after the move while you can still access the original account. iTechGuides’ review
Who should consider Hosting.com?
It may fit
- Technically comfortable WordPress users, developers, small businesses, and site owners who want shared hosting with published resource allocations.
- Sites whose needs fit the selected plan’s storage and website limits, and whose owners value the advertised LiteSpeed and NVMe stack.
- Buyers willing to review renewal terms and verify support, backup, and migration details rather than relying on a promotional headline.
Consider other options or gather more evidence first
- Business-critical sites with little tolerance for shared-hosting interruption risk or a need for a predictable, long-term total cost.
- Owners seeking a completely hands-off platform who do not want to manage migration checks, DNS, or application testing.
- Sites with a global audience that need consistently strong delivery in multiple regions; the cited independent test noted weaker global performance without a CDN.
When comparing hosts, evaluate first-term and renewal totals, resource limits, measured uptime and outage frequency, visitor geography and CDN coverage, backup retention and restore procedure, control panel and migration workload, and support escalation. The available evidence does not establish a complete head-to-head winner against every alternative.
Should existing A2 Hosting customers move?
Not automatically. Compare your actual plan, latest invoice, renewal notice, control panel, and resource use with the current offer. If the existing site is stable and the renewal cost is acceptable, the rebrand alone is not a reason to migrate. If you are considering a move, confirm how your files, databases, email, DNS, IP address, backups, restore process, and application compatibility will be handled before switching. iTechGuides’ review
