The real game launched for Windows PC on Steam on October 8, 2026, priced at $5.99, or $5.39 during Steam’s captured 10% introductory discount. A small social-media account then claimed a mobile release was coming the following week, but a developer-linked account called that account fake. Treat mobile download links, token promotions and off-platform payment requests using the game’s name as unverified.
What triggered the mobile-version controversy?
On October 14, an account using the name Hood Warfare 2 posted that a mobile version was “coming next week,” according to reporting by Dexerto. The account had few followers and promoted crypto tokens, details that prompted immediate skepticism from players.

The claim was not accompanied by a matching listing on Steam or by an announcement on the TrapStar Games site. A TrapstarGames account subsequently posted a denial reproduced by Dexerto: There is no official twitter account or meme coin@HoodWarfare2 is a fake account
. The wording, including its informal capitalization and punctuation, is preserved exactly.
That statement does not establish that every person sharing a mobile link is committing fraud, and no independently audited investigation has established who operated the account. It does establish that the account making the announcement was not endorsed by the developer-linked source. Until an official store page or developer announcement appears, the mobile story remains disputed and unverified.

The currently documented product is a Windows PC multiplayer first-person shooter. Steam lists TrapStar Games as the developer and publisher, with a release date of October 8, 2026. Its minimum platform requirement is Windows 10 64-bit.

Steam describes a Chicago-set multiplayer FPS with weapon customization and several game modes. The listing includes single-player, online player-versus-player, family sharing and controller support. Those features describe the PC release; they are not evidence that a phone or tablet edition exists.

How successful is the Steam game?
The low price has helped draw attention, but the available figures should be read narrowly. At capture, Steam showed Hood Warfare 2 as “Mostly Positive,” with 79% of 1,007 user reviews marked positive. That is a review snapshot, not a sales total, player-count guarantee or audited measure of commercial success. No independent audited sales figure was identified.
The $5.99 price is the standard listed amount reported for the Steam version. The $5.39 figure was a temporary launch discount observed when the listing was captured, so it should not be treated as a permanent price or as the cost of any hypothetical mobile edition.

How to check whether a future mobile announcement is genuine
- Start with the official product pages. Look for a dated announcement on the TrapStar Games site or a new listing published through an established mobile app store under a matching developer identity.
- Match the developer information. A familiar game name or logo is not enough. Check that the publisher name, support contact and links correspond to TrapStar Games rather than to a newly created account.
- Check the transaction path. A legitimate release should use the app store’s normal purchase or installation flow. Requests for crypto, wallet connections, token purchases or direct downloads from file-hosting pages are not corroborated by the verified PC release.
- Inspect the announcement itself. Confirm a specific platform, store page, release date and privacy or support information. A post promising “next week” without a store listing is only a claim.
- Do not install first and investigate later. Avoid sideloading an APK, profile or executable promoted through an unaffiliated account. If you already installed one, remove it, run your device’s security scan and change credentials entered into the app or linked site.
Why the distinction matters for players
A real game can attract false announcements
The Steam release is a genuine, inexpensive PC title with a public store page and identifiable developer attribution. That visibility can make the name useful to impersonators seeking clicks, downloads or speculative token buyers. Popularity of the underlying game does not validate every account using its branding.
Mobile compatibility is not automatic
A Windows release cannot be assumed to run on Android or iOS. Mobile publication requires a separate build, store submission and developer account. Controller support on Steam also does not demonstrate touchscreen support.

Price claims can be misleading
Comparing a $5.39 introductory Steam price with an unannounced “mobile price” creates a comparison between a documented transaction and an unsupported claim. Until an official mobile listing exists, there is no reliable mobile price, edition, monetization model or system-requirements sheet to compare.
What players should do now
- Buy or launch the documented PC edition only through its Steam listing if you want to play now.
- Use the Steam page and TrapStar Games’ official site as the baseline for platform and release information.
- Ignore token sales and direct-download offers attached to the disputed social account.
- Report suspicious impersonation or malware links to the relevant social platform and app store.
- Wait for a verifiable developer announcement before treating a mobile edition as real.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Hood Warfare 2 is verified on Windows PC through Steam, not on mobile. The October 14 “coming next week” post came from an account the developer-linked source called fake, and no official mobile listing has been identified. Do not download software or send money based on that claim.
