Search Pumpkin chests first. In Fortnite Battle Royale v42.40, the Honey Sprite can also appear in ordinary chests, after smashing Pumpkins, or through Cheat Codes. It has no confirmed permanent map coordinate. Once equipped, it gives ranged-weapon hits a chance to spawn bees at the location you struck. Sprites are unavailable in competitive modes.
What is the Honey Sprite?
Honey Sprite is a new Fortnite Sprite added with the v42.40 Battle Royale update on October 15, 2026. Sprites are roaming creatures that grant a special power when found and equipped. The Honey Sprite’s power is built around ranged combat: dealing damage with a ranged weapon can create bees at the hit location.

Epic describes the mechanic as: “Honey Sprite (Design A Sprite Winner!): Chance to spawn bees at the hit location upon dealing damage with a ranged weapon.” The wording matters: the bee effect is chance-based, so it will not activate on every successful shot.
Where to find the Honey Sprite
There is no authoritative fixed Honey Sprite coordinate or guaranteed named point of interest. Current guidance points to dynamic loot and roaming discovery instead. Loot pools and event systems can change, so these are current routes for v42.40 rather than permanent guarantees.

1. Search Pumpkin chests
Pumpkin chests are the most reliable reported source. When you land, prioritize areas containing these special event containers and open every one you can reach safely.
2. Check ordinary chests
Regular chests may also contain the Honey Sprite. Search them while rotating between locations instead of abandoning a match after failing to find a Pumpkin chest.
3. Smash Pumpkins
Breaking Pumpkins is another reported acquisition route. Clear groups of Pumpkins as you move through an area, watching for the Sprite to appear among the resulting loot or discoveries.

4. Enter Cheat Codes
Cheat Codes are also listed as a way to obtain the Honey Sprite in the current event system. Their availability and results can change with updates, so treat this as an additional option rather than a guaranteed shortcut.
| Route | How to use it | Reliability in current guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Pumpkin chests | Search and open Pumpkin chests during a Battle Royale match. | Best reported route |
| Ordinary chests | Open standard chests while looting and rotating. | Additional reported route |
| Smashed Pumpkins | Break Pumpkins encountered around the island. | Additional reported route |
| Cheat Codes | Use an available event Cheat Code that can grant the Sprite. | Additional reported route; availability may change |
How to locate one with a Sprite Shrine
A Sprite Shrine is the practical way to narrow the search when you do not see a Honey Sprite while looting. Interact with the shrine to reveal nearby Sprites, then search the indicated area. The shrine helps discover nearby creatures; it does not establish a permanent Honey Sprite spawn at that shrine or guarantee that the revealed Sprite will be Honey.
- Find a Sprite Shrine while exploring the island.
- Interact with it to reveal nearby Sprites.
- Move through the revealed area and identify the Sprite you need.
- Approach and equip the Honey Sprite if it appears.
Because Sprites roam, search information from a shrine is a useful lead rather than a map coordinate you can reuse every match.

What the Honey Sprite does
Trigger
Equip the Honey Sprite, then deal damage with a ranged weapon. A successful ranged hit has a chance to activate the Sprite’s power.
Result
When it activates, bees spawn at the hit location. This adds pressure where the opponent was struck and can disrupt an enemy’s position, particularly when a target is holding a doorway, peeking from cover, or regrouping near teammates.
What it does not guarantee
- Every ranged hit will not necessarily spawn bees.
- The effect is tied to ranged-weapon damage; do not assume melee or non-ranged damage activates it.
- The available evidence describes the spawn location as the hit location, not a player-selected area elsewhere on the map.
Practical ways to use the bee effect
- Pressure cover: Tag an opponent behind cover and use the resulting bee activity to make that position less comfortable.
- Disrupt rotations: Ranged tags during a crossing can create an additional hazard at the place the enemy was hit.
- Keep firing normally: Since activation is chance-based, use the ranged weapon for its ordinary damage and accuracy rather than wasting shots trying to force a bee spawn.
- Coordinate with teammates: Call out the hit location so teammates know where the extra pressure may appear.
Availability and mode restrictions
The Honey Sprite is part of the current Battle Royale Sprite pool in v42.40. Epic Player Support states that Sprites can be found and equipped during a match to grant a Sprite Power ability, but also says: “Sprites are not available for competitive modes.” If you are playing a competitive playlist and cannot find one, that is an availability rule rather than evidence that the loot route failed.

Sprites were introduced with Chapter 6 Season 1 on December 1, 2024. Their presence, loot sources, and event interactions can be adjusted in later updates, so check the active playlist and patch notes when a new season changes the island.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Honey Sprite compared with other Sprites
The useful distinction is the power each Sprite grants. Honey Sprite is the ranged-hit option: its trigger is ranged-weapon damage and its result is bee activity at the hit location. Other Sprites may require a different action and provide healing, movement, tracking, or another effect. When deciding which to equip, compare the trigger with your weapon loadout and the result with the situation you expect to face.

Quick troubleshooting
You searched but found no Honey Sprite
Loot is not fixed. Try more Pumpkin chests, search ordinary chests, smash Pumpkins, and use a Sprite Shrine to reveal nearby creatures. None of these methods guarantees a spawn in every match.

The Sprite is missing in your playlist
Verify that you are in a non-competitive Battle Royale mode. Sprites are disabled in competitive modes.
Your shots are not creating bees
The power has a chance-based trigger, so individual hits may produce no bees. Confirm that you are dealing damage with a ranged weapon and continue playing around the weapon’s normal strengths rather than expecting activation on every shot.
