Home lists the current US direct price as $449. That makes the 2026 version a more compelling starting point for a new Homey system than a clear upgrade for existing 2023 owners; the extra memory may help heavier app setups, but no independent performance testing establishes how much.
What changed in Homey Pro (2026)?
Homey’s announced hardware change is the move from 2 GB to 4 GB of RAM. The company says the added memory is intended to support homes running many Homey Apps, and advertises capacity for “well over 100” apps. That capacity figure is Homey’s claim, not an independently verified threshold or a guarantee of performance with any particular mix of apps. (Homey’s announcement)

Homey’s official comparison groups the 2023 and 2026 models together for 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth LE 5.0, Zigbee, Z-Wave Plus 700, 433 MHz, Thread Border Router, Matter, infrared, and optional Ethernet through an adapter. The company presents RAM, rather than a new radio platform, as the hardware distinction. (Homey’s model comparison)
Homey Pro 2026 vs. Homey Pro 2023: should you upgrade?
For an owner of the 2023 model, the 2026 version offers more RAM but no listed change to CPU, flash storage, or protocol support. The evidence does not establish that the memory increase will make an existing setup faster or more reliable; its practical value depends on the owner’s app load and memory demands, for which no independent test results are available.

Homey Pro supports Wi-Fi, so Ethernet is not required for ordinary setup. Homey lists its optional Ethernet Adapter at $29 and Homey Bridge at $69 on the US product page when accessed; both prices may change. Homey describes the adapter as enabling wired Ethernet and Bridge as extending wireless coverage and enabling satellite operation. The same page advertises optional cloud backups for $10 per year and describes local backup to a Mac or PC; the cloud-backup charge is separate from the hub purchase. (Homey Pro product page)
Protocol support is broad, but check exact device compatibility
Homey’s current product page lists Wi-Fi at 2.4 and 5 GHz, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0, Matter 1.5, Thread Border Router, Zigbee 3.0, Z-Wave 700 Series, 433 MHz, and infrared. These protocols describe the hub’s listed capabilities; they do not establish that every device using a protocol, or every manufacturer-specific feature, will work with Homey.

There is also a regional limit: Homey says 433 MHz transmission is disabled on Homey Pro and Homey Bridge in the US, Canada, and South Korea. This matters when migrating devices or choosing an imported hub intended for a different market. (Homey Pro product page)
Homey Support reports that Homey Pro, Homey Pro mini, and Homey Self-Hosted Server are certified as Matter 1.5 controllers by the Connectivity Standards Alliance. Its supported Matter device-type list includes lights, sockets, buttons, locks, climate products, energy devices, environmental and safety sensors, robot vacuums, speakers, video players, and window coverings. A category listing is not a promise that every model or every device feature is supported, so check the exact product and its relevant Homey app or integration before purchase. Software, Energy, and local operation
The product page lists Advanced Flow, Energy, Dashboards, Insights, HomeyScript, apps, remote access, app-store access, and voice-assistant integration. Homey describes Pro as locally processed, or on-premise, with minimal or necessary cloud use. That supports calling it a local-first hub, but it does not mean every integration will work during an internet outage: a device or service that depends on a cloud API may still need internet access. Check how each important integration communicates. (Homey Pro product page)

Review verdict: a modest refresh, not a new platform
Homey Pro (2026) is best understood as the 2023 hub with twice the RAM, not as a new generation of radios or a proven speed upgrade. Its breadth of listed protocols, Matter 1.5 controller certification, and included Home Energy features may suit someone building a broad smart-home system, provided their specific devices and integrations are supported. For current 2023 owners whose setup works well, Homey’s stated support through at least June 2031 and the unchanged listed connectivity make an immediate upgrade difficult to justify on specifications alone.
