MyLowe’s Pro Rewards is easier to value because it publishes a points currency, delivery benefits and clear spend tiers. Home Depot Pro Xtra can be worth more for contractors who already buy most materials at Home Depot, rent tools there, use its project-account controls or can reach Elite and VIP benefits. The better choice depends on your actual supplier mix, delivery needs, paint and rental spending, and whether you prefer predictable points or threshold-based perks.

How Home Depot Pro Xtra works
Who can join and how purchases are tracked
Pro Xtra is intended for professional customers making business transactions. A qualifying purchase is connected to the account when you identify yourself with a Pro Xtra ID, use registered tender or buy while logged in to the associated account. If a cashier or online checkout cannot associate the transaction with your account, it may not count toward the period’s qualifying spend, so check that the account is attached before paying.
Perks and annual periods
Pro Xtra uses annual qualifying-purchase periods and tiers. The first Perk becomes available after qualifying purchases exceed $2,500. Perks can be earned on up to $1,000,000 of qualifying purchases in one program period. Tier benefits apply during the period in which you earn them and the following program period, which matters if a large project pushes you into a higher tier near the end of the year.

For a threshold met on or after January 1, 2026, Home Depot gives you 60 days to select the Perk. The available choices and their values are shown in the member Rewards Hub rather than as one universal cash-back rate. The dashboard also shows the expiration date for an individual Perk; do not assume every Perk remains available for the same length of time.
Elite and VIP advantages
Elite and VIP status can provide preferred pricing on selected in-stock items. VIP members may also receive account management and invitations to experiences. These advantages are most relevant to contractors with substantial, recurring spend; a small operator who never reaches those tiers may receive little incremental value beyond the standard account tools and lower-level rewards.
Tools, rentals and paint
- Pro Online Experience: create a quote and lock its price for up to seven days.
- Account administration: assign purchaser and administrator roles and set spend limits for employees or crew members.
- Accounting: export transactions to QuickBooks.
- HD Pass: use Home Depot’s project and purchasing workflow for eligible business needs.
- Rentals: access rental-related perks, which may matter more than a small merchandise reward if your work regularly requires tools or equipment.
- Paint: use Pro Xtra Paint Rewards at participating channels; eligibility and exact reward treatment depend on the participating channel and current terms.
- Other member benefits: exclusive events and additional online business tools are included in the program’s current benefit set.
The Pro Xtra Credit Card accelerator
Qualifying purchases made with a registered Home Depot Pro Xtra Credit Card receive four-times credit for Perk calculations. This accelerates progress toward a Perk; it does not mean the transaction receives four-times cash back. Card approval, account registration, exclusions and the card agreement still apply.

How MyLowe’s Pro Rewards works
Enrollment and tiers
MyLowe’s Pro Rewards is Lowe’s current name for the former MVPs Pro Rewards & Partnership Program. You join through a free Lowe’s Business Account, and a credit card is not required. Your annual qualifying spend places you in one of three tiers:

The published rates apply to qualifying purchases up to $1.5 million. Lowe’s converts 100 points into $1 of MyLowe’s Money, and the program also offers tools, gift cards and other exclusive items. Because tier placement and earning timing can affect the rate applied to transactions, treat the table as the program’s stated rate structure rather than assuming every dollar in a year earns at the highest rate.

Expiration rules
Points earned from January 1 through June 30 expire on June 30. Points earned from July 1 through December 31 expire on December 31. Once issued, MyLowe’s Money expires 60 days later. A contractor who postpones redemptions can therefore lose value even while remaining an active member; schedule a midyear and year-end review of the account.
Delivery and purchasing benefits
- Free delivery is listed as a member benefit.
- Free same-day delivery is available on eligible orders over $25, with geographic, product and order restrictions.
- Member deals and volume discounts apply to eligible quoted orders of $2,000 or more.
- A 20% member paint discount begins after $3,000 in annual qualifying paint spend.
Delivery is often the biggest practical difference for a crew that loses billable time collecting materials. Confirm that your service address, product category and requested delivery window qualify before changing suppliers; the benefit is not a promise that every order or ZIP code receives free or same-day service.

Business-account controls
MyLowe’s Pro Rewards includes spend reports, online order quoting, purchase authorization for crew members, project management, Scan to Pay and multi-delivery scheduling. Lowe’s also lists QuickBooks and Quicken integration. These functions are useful when several people buy for the same company and the owner needs a single view of job-level spending.
Pro Credit Card treatment
Lowe’s says Pro Credit Card members start at Platinum Pro and receive 5% savings on eligible purchases, subject to credit approval, exclusions and the card’s terms. The 5% savings is separate from the points program, so verify how an individual transaction qualifies before treating it as a combined 5% discount plus a full points award.
Which program gives the better return?
For predictable rewards
MyLowe’s is easier to forecast. You know the tier bands, points-per-dollar rates and the conversion of 100 points to $1 MyLowe’s Money. That clarity helps when you prepare a bid and want to estimate the reward earned from a planned materials purchase. The short expiration windows require disciplined redemption, however.

Pro Xtra’s value is less uniform because the first Perk threshold is public but the available Perk choices and values are presented in the Rewards Hub. A contractor must log in and inspect the current offer rather than apply one permanent percentage to every dollar.

MyLowe’s still awards points from the first qualifying dollar at Gold Pro, while Pro Xtra’s first Perk requires qualifying spend above $2,500. That does not make Lowe’s automatically cheaper: local prices, delivery charges and product availability can outweigh a modest reward. Compare the suppliers you already use instead of buying extra materials to chase a threshold.
For high-volume contractors
At Lowe’s, Platinum begins at $10,000 and Titanium at $25,000, with the published rate rising to 1.25 and then 1.5 points per dollar. At Home Depot, the meaningful upside may come from Elite or VIP preferred pricing, account service and selected in-stock items rather than a published points rate. Home Depot also allows Perk calculations on up to $1 million per period, compared with Lowe’s $1.5 million points ceiling.
Use your last 12 months of invoices to see whether you actually cross the relevant bands. A theoretical top tier is not a return if your spend is split between retailers or concentrated in categories that do not qualify.
For delivery-dependent jobs
Lowe’s has the clearer published delivery proposition: free delivery and eligible free same-day delivery over $25. Home Depot’s cited Pro Xtra terms emphasize rentals, preferred pricing and account tools; delivery treatment varies by order and location. If a delayed load can stop a crew, price the delivery benefit against the local store’s inventory and promised windows.

For paint-heavy work
Both programs have a paint angle, but they work differently. Home Depot offers Pro Xtra Paint Rewards through participating channels. Lowe’s publishes a 20% member paint discount after $3,000 in annual qualifying paint spend. A painting contractor should confirm which brands, sheens, quantities and channels count before assigning a value to either benefit.
For tool rentals
Frequent renters should give Pro Xtra extra consideration because rental perks are part of its benefit set. Add up rental frequency and the actual fees you pay; a rental-related saving can exceed a small merchandise reward, especially on equipment-heavy projects.
For crew controls and accounting
Both programs support business purchasing, but their strengths differ. Pro Xtra offers seven-day quote price locks, purchaser and administrator roles, spend limits and QuickBooks export. MyLowe’s offers spend reports, crew purchase authorization, project management, Scan to Pay, multi-delivery scheduling and QuickBooks/Quicken integration. Choose the system that matches how your office approves purchases and reconciles job costs.

- Measure your real spend. Export the last 12 months of purchases by retailer, category and job. Separate materials, paint, rentals, delivery and returns.
- Check qualification. Remove purchases that either program excludes, then compare the remaining amount with Home Depot’s $2,500-plus Perk threshold and Lowe’s $10,000 and $25,000 tier bands.
- Price the operational benefit. Record delivery fees, pickup time, rental charges, quote discounts and the cost of sending crew members to a store. A reward is not a saving if the supplier costs more or causes a missed delivery.
- Review account controls. Decide whether you need seven-day quote locking and spend limits, or Lowe’s crew authorization, project tools, Scan to Pay and multi-delivery scheduling.
- Model card use separately. If considering a card, account for Home Depot’s four-times Perk-calculation credit or Lowe’s Platinum starting tier and 5% eligible-purchase savings, then apply exclusions, approval requirements and payment costs.
- Set expiration reminders. For Home Depot, check the Rewards Hub and select a qualifying Perk within 60 days when the threshold deadline applies. For Lowe’s, review points before June 30 and December 31 and redeem MyLowe’s Money within 60 days of issuance.
- Run a local pilot. Test the program on one job or one month of purchases. Verify inventory, delivery coverage, quote pricing and whether transactions appear correctly in the account before moving all purchasing.
Common pitfalls
Assuming every purchase qualifies
Both programs use qualifying-purchase definitions and exclusions. Scan the correct account or tender at checkout, retain receipts and inspect the transaction history. A purchase that never posts cannot help you reach a tier or threshold.

Home Depot’s 60-day Perk-selection rule applies to thresholds met on or after January 1, 2026. Lowe’s points expire on a twice-yearly schedule, and MyLowe’s Money expires 60 days after issuance. Put calendar alerts on the actual account dates rather than relying on memory.

Confusing a card accelerator with a discount
Four-times credit in Pro Xtra accelerates Perk calculations; it is not four-times cash back. Lowe’s 5% card savings applies only to eligible purchases and does not remove credit approval or exclusion rules.
Ignoring geography and product restrictions
Same-day delivery, free delivery, paint discounts, volume pricing and preferred prices all have eligibility conditions. Confirm the offer for your store, ZIP code, product and order size before including it in a customer estimate.
Chasing status with unnecessary purchases
Do not split or redirect a job solely to reach a tier. Compare the net cost of the materials, delivery and labor with the reward you can actually redeem. Supplier reliability and local inventory remain part of the return.
Verdict
Choose MyLowe’s Pro Rewards if you want a transparent points currency, published spend bands, delivery benefits, same-day options on eligible orders, spend reporting or crew authorization. It is the simpler program to forecast, provided you manage the June, December and 60-day expiration rules.
Choose Home Depot Pro Xtra if Home Depot already supplies most of your jobs, you rent tools there, can reach Elite or VIP status, or benefit from its quote, role, limit and accounting controls. Its threshold Perks require more dashboard checking, but the practical value can be higher for a Home Depot-centered operation.
Before switching, compare your local prices, inventory, delivery fees, paint volume and rental history. The best program is the one that reduces your actual job cost and administrative friction, not the one with the most attractive headline benefit.
