There is no evidence-based single “best” Holy Stone drone for every pilot. The HS720E and HS720G are the two most relevant camera-drone candidates, but they prioritize different hardware on paper. Holy Stone lists the HS720E with electronic image stabilization (EIS), a 4K Sony CMOS sensor, a wider 130-degree field of view and a package advertised with two batteries. The HS720G adds a two-axis motorized gimbal to EIS, weighs less and is listed with GPS, GLONASS and optical-flow positioning. Those specifications identify meaningful differences; they do not prove superior footage or flight performance without independent testing.
Use the HS720G when a mechanical gimbal is your deciding feature. Consider the HS720E when its wider field of view, lower-resolution phone-preview workflow, or advertised two-battery bundle fits your use better. In either case, treat flight time, control distance and camera quality as manufacturer claims rather than measured results.

What the HS720E and HS720G actually offer
Holy Stone positions both models as GPS camera drones capable of recording at up to 4K resolution. Their published specifications overlap, but the stabilization systems, weight, positioning hardware, field of view and in-box battery information differ. The table below keeps those claims separate from conclusions about real-world quality.

Which stabilization system fits your flying?
HS720E: electronic image stabilization
EIS uses software to reduce apparent shake in recorded footage. Holy Stone lists EIS on the HS720E but does not list a mechanical gimbal for it. The page also identifies a 4K Sony CMOS sensor and a 130-degree field of view. These are component and lens specifications, not a guarantee of sharpness, dynamic range, low-light performance or smooth video in wind.
Because the HS720E specification separates the camera files saved to a TF card from files saved to a phone, do not judge its 4K capability from a low-resolution preview downloaded to your handset. The card-recording workflow is the relevant one for the maximum listed resolution.
HS720G: two-axis gimbal plus EIS
The HS720G is listed with a two-axis motorized gimbal and EIS together. A gimbal physically moves the camera on two axes, while EIS handles residual vibration in software. That combination is a meaningful hardware distinction from the HS720E’s EIS-only description. It is reasonable to choose the HS720G if mechanical stabilization is important to your shooting plan, but the specification alone cannot establish that it produces better footage. A fair ranking would require comparable footage or controlled testing under the same wind, movement and lighting conditions.
What neither specification proves
Neither product page establishes a measured comparison for horizon level, rolling-shutter distortion, motion blur, color, night performance or stability during rapid turns. Resolution labels also do not reveal bitrate, lens quality or compression. If those factors determine your purchase, look for independent sample footage and tests that identify firmware, weather, flight speed and recording settings rather than relying on the 4K label.

Camera recording: card files are not the same as phone files
HS720E’s two file paths
Holy Stone lists HS720E photos and videos recorded to a TF card at 3,840 × 2,160. On the same specification, it lists phone-stored photos at 1,920 × 1,080 and phone-stored video at 1,280 × 720. The distinction matters: a phone copy can be convenient for quick sharing while still being substantially lower resolution than the onboard recording.
The TF card is not included. Holy Stone lists support for cards up to 128 GB and recommends class 10 or faster media formatted as FAT32. Confirm the current app and camera workflow before your first flight, because app labels and transfer behavior can change. After inserting a compatible card, make a short test recording, stop recording normally and verify that the file opens on a computer or phone before relying on the drone for an important event.
HS720G’s listed recording capability
Holy Stone lists the HS720G at 3,840 × 2,160 maximum photo and video resolution, with video up to 30 frames per second and TF-card support up to 128 GB. The cited specification does not state the phone-preview resolutions or a required file system. If you plan to edit on a phone, test a complete card-to-device transfer rather than assuming that a 4K clip will be sent at full resolution over the wireless preview connection.

Flight time and control range: read the numbers correctly
Flight-time claims
Holy Stone lists 23 minutes per HS720E battery and advertises two batteries for up to 46 minutes combined. Forty-six minutes is therefore a total across two battery cycles, not a single uninterrupted flight. The HS720G is listed at up to 26 minutes, with one battery shown in the package listing. Actual usable airtime depends on wind, temperature, payload, battery condition, flight speed and the reserve you keep for landing; the cited pages do not provide an independent test protocol.

Plan every flight around an early return and landing margin rather than treating the headline duration as guaranteed airborne time. If you buy a second battery, allow time for charging and cooling between flights and confirm that the replacement is specifically listed for your model.
Transmitter range
Both pages list a 999 m transmitter range. This is a manufacturer-published specification, not a promise that a pilot will achieve that distance in every country or environment. Buildings, trees, radio interference, local operating rules and line-of-sight requirements can reduce practical range. Maintain visual awareness of the aircraft and follow the rules that apply where you fly; do not use the number as permission to fly beyond safe or legal limits.
Positioning features
The HS720E page lists GPS-assisted Follow Me, TapFly, Point of Interest and Return to Home. The HS720G page lists GPS, GLONASS and optical-flow positioning. These labels describe intended functions, not guaranteed accuracy. Give the aircraft time to obtain a reliable position according to the current app’s status indicators, and test automated modes at low altitude in an open area before using them near people or property.
Weight and package differences that affect your decision
Published weight
At 495 g, the HS720E is listed as 118 g heavier than the HS720G, which is listed at 377 g. Weight can affect transport, wind response and the regulatory category used in your jurisdiction, but the available specifications do not provide comparative wind tests or legal advice. Check your aviation authority’s current rules before flying and use the weight of the aircraft as configured for operation, not an assumption based on a retailer headline.

Battery bundles and accessories
The HS720E product page advertises two batteries and up to 46 minutes combined. The HS720G page lists one battery. Holy Stone also notes that package accessories can vary by purchase channel. Before ordering, confirm the number of batteries, charger, propellers, controller, storage-card status and any carrying case in the exact listing.
Holy Stone’s FAQ says the HS720E and HS720 use the same drone battery. That statement does not make an HS720 battery automatically suitable for the HS720G. Check the model number, connector, voltage and seller’s compatibility information before buying a replacement. Availability and regional listings can change.
How to choose between the two models
Choose the HS720G when mechanical stabilization is the priority
- You want a two-axis motorized gimbal in addition to EIS.
- The listed 377 g weight is preferable for your transport or operating context.
- GPS, GLONASS and optical-flow positioning match the environments in which you intend to practice.
- You can work within a one-battery package or budget for a verified spare.
- You accept that the drone has no obstacle avoidance and will fly in wide, open areas.
Choose the HS720E when its recording and bundle details fit better
- You value the listed 130-degree field of view and 4K Sony CMOS description.
- You want the product page’s advertised two-battery bundle, while understanding that 46 minutes is cumulative.
- You plan to record to a TF card and can manage the separate lower-resolution phone files.
- You need the listed Follow Me, TapFly, Point of Interest and Return to Home functions.
- You have confirmed the 495 g aircraft’s suitability under your local rules.
When neither is an automatic winner
If your decision depends on obstacle detection, cinematic three-axis movement, verified wind resistance, low-light results or independently measured range, neither cited specification answers the question. Treat both as candidates for further testing, not as proven leaders. A drone with a published 4K mode can still disappoint if the lens, compression, stabilization tuning or pilot technique does not suit the scene.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Inventory the package. Confirm the exact model, controller, battery count, charger, propellers and guards. Photograph the label if you may need support or a return.
- Charge and inspect. Fully charge the flight battery and controller as directed. Check propellers, motors, camera mount and battery contacts for shipping damage.
- Install the current control app. Use the app identified in the model’s current manual or official listing. Review permissions and firmware prompts before pairing.
- Prepare storage. For the HS720E, use a compatible TF card up to 128 GB, class 10 or faster and FAT32 as recommended by Holy Stone. For the HS720G, stay within the published 128 GB limit and follow its current formatting instructions.
- Power up in the recommended order. Keep the aircraft on a level surface, connect the controller and phone as the current manual specifies, and wait for the app to show a ready status.
- Check positioning. Wait for the app to report an adequate GPS or positioning state. Do not launch from a cramped room simply because the motors respond; optical flow and satellite positioning are not substitutes for open space.
- Calibrate only when prompted or required. Follow the current on-screen procedure for compass or other calibration. Keep magnetic objects and vehicles away during calibration.
- Test the camera on the ground. Start a short recording, stop it normally and verify that the file is on the card. For the HS720E, compare the card file with the phone copy so you know which workflow preserves 4K resolution.
- Make a low, nearby hover. Confirm control response, GPS hold, gimbal movement on the HS720G and Return to Home behavior before attempting Follow Me, TapFly or Point of Interest.
- Set a conservative return plan. Note battery percentage, obstacles, wind direction and landing area. Return early enough to land with reserve rather than chasing the published maximum.
Safety and failure planning
No obstacle avoidance on the HS720G
Holy Stone’s FAQ answers the question directly: “No, the HS720G drone doesn’t have obstacle avoidance.” Fly it—and any drone whose obstacle-detection capability is not established—in a wide, open area. GPS or optical-flow positioning can help the aircraft estimate its position; neither is a license to fly toward trees, wires, buildings or people.
Return-to-Home is not a collision guarantee
The HS720E page lists Return to Home, but the cited material does not describe its altitude logic, accuracy or behavior around obstacles. Keep the intended return path clear, set the home point only after the app confirms it, and remain ready to intervene. Test the function in a controlled area rather than discovering its behavior over water or a crowd.
Common recording problems
- 4K appears unavailable: verify that you are checking the TF-card file rather than the phone-stored preview, and confirm that the card is inserted and recognized.
- Clips are missing: stop recording before powering down, then inspect the card on another device. Do not remove the card while the camera is writing.
- Video looks shaky: check that the HS720G gimbal is unobstructed and initialized, or remember that the HS720E relies on EIS rather than a listed mechanical gimbal. Wind and aggressive control inputs can overwhelm either system.
- Battery life is shorter than advertised: account for cold weather, wind, speed, payload and your landing reserve. Compare only under similar conditions; the published figures are not independent tests.
- Replacement battery does not fit: stop using it and verify the exact model, connector and voltage. Compatibility information for one model should not be generalized to another.
Buying and availability checks
Holy Stone lists its official store, country-specific storefronts and other retailers as purchase channels. Catalogs, inventory and bundle contents can change, and a listing indexed at one time is not a dependable current price or stock signal. Check the seller, model suffix, included battery count, warranty terms, shipping region and return policy immediately before purchase.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The HS720E card is not included according to its product specification, so budget for suitable storage. Accessories pages may list batteries and controllers, but confirm that the part is for HS720E rather than HS720G. Do not assume that an accessory shown in a general catalog is included in the particular package you are viewing.
What can—and cannot—be concluded about “excellent” flight and camera quality
The available evidence supports a precise comparison of listed hardware and features, not a superlative ranking. The HS720G has the more elaborate stabilization description because it combines a two-axis gimbal with EIS. The HS720E has a wider listed field of view, a named Sony CMOS sensor, an advertised two-battery package and clearly documented lower-resolution phone files. Both have manufacturer-stated 4K capability and 999 m transmitter range.
Those facts still leave important questions unanswered: actual sharpness, color, autofocus behavior, gimbal smoothness, wind handling, battery endurance in specific weather, radio reliability and the accuracy of automated flight modes. Independent, repeatable testing is needed before calling either model objectively best or claiming an outstanding camera. Match the specification to your priorities, verify the exact package and test the recording workflow before committing to a critical shoot.
