Yes—Hogwarts Legacy’s Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest is free for anyone who owns the game. It is not a limited-time Halloween event or a separately priced expansion. Completing the quest provides three lasting additions:
- An additional dungeon connected to the shop investigation.

Is the Haunted Hogsmeade quest free?
The Summer 2024 update was free to owners of Hogwarts Legacy. You do not buy the Haunted Hogsmeade quest as a standalone DLC item. You must, however, own the base game on a supported platform. If you have not purchased the game, the cost is the current price of the edition and storefront listing you choose, not a separate quest fee.
The free-update distinction matters because storefront pages can show different prices, bundles and editions. Check the listing for your platform before buying, and confirm that it identifies the Summer 2024 content or the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest where applicable.

Do you need the Deluxe Edition?
No separate Deluxe Edition purchase is required to unlock this quest for an existing owner. Warner Bros.’ official purchase listing identifies the quest as included with both the Standard and Deluxe editions. In practical terms, buying Deluxe solely for Haunted Hogsmeade offers no advantage: the quest is update content rather than a Deluxe-only add-on.
Edition contents can differ for other bonuses, and storefront metadata can change by region. Compare the current Standard and Deluxe descriptions if you are buying the game for the first time, but do not assume the haunted shop itself requires Deluxe.

Which platforms have it?
The quest first appeared as PlayStation-exclusive content. The Summer 2024 rollout removed that restriction, making it available to players on all platforms supported by the game:

How to get the haunted shop in Hogwarts Legacy
- Own and install Hogwarts Legacy. The quest is update content for the game, not a free-to-play download.
- Update the game. Apply the Summer 2024 update on PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Switch before looking for the new content.
- Continue your save in Hogsmeade. The quest begins from the game’s Hogsmeade hub rather than from a separate Halloween menu or time-limited event screen.
- Follow the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest. Investigate the haunted premises, complete the connected dungeon and finish the objective chain.
- Claim the permanent rewards. After completion, the shop, dungeon-related progress and Shopkeeper’s Cosmetic Set become part of your ongoing save.
The exact point at which the quest appears can depend on progress in your save and the game’s current quest requirements. If it is not visible, first confirm that the update installed successfully, then advance the main game far enough to access Hogsmeade and check the quest log again.

Many games advertise Halloween through temporary decorations or a short challenge list. Haunted Hogsmeade takes a different approach: its horror is built into a location you can revisit, and its rewards do not expire when the calendar changes.
