A newer report dated October 4, 2026 describes a purported 15.6-inch 2K tablet with design cues from Microsoft Surface and the Nokia Lumia 2520. A more detailed 2024 leak described a much smaller 10.6-inch model. Those are conflicting rumor versions—not a confirmed specification sheet.
What does the latest HMD Slate Tab 5G leak claim?
IT之家 reported on October 4, 2026 that leaker smashx_60 had shown renders of an Android tablet called the HMD Slate Tab 5G. The report says the device has been in development for two years and could launch alongside a Skyline 2 phone. It describes blue and orange finishes, a 15.6-inch 2K LCD, one rear camera and connector contacts along the bottom. The outlet characterizes the design as drawing on Microsoft Surface and Nokia Lumia 2520. These details come from leak coverage; the report page was not available to verify beyond its search-result text. IT之家’s October 4 report

Renders and reported design inspiration do not establish the tablet’s final appearance, specifications or launch plans. In particular, the newer screen-size claim conflicts with an earlier leak.

Notebookcheck’s June 17, 2024 report, updated June 18 and attributed to leaker @smashx_60, described a 10.6-inch 2000 × 1200 90 Hz IPS display. The October 2026 IT之家 report instead describes a 15.6-inch 2K LCD. The newer account is much less detailed, and neither report is an HMD announcement; the difference does not by itself prove that the tablet was redesigned. Notebookcheck’s 2024 leak report

Has HMD confirmed the Slate Tab 5G?
No HMD confirmation is established in the cited coverage. The available details come from reports of leaks attributed to smashx_60, and the most recent report supplies only a limited set of claims. Final specifications, price, release timing, regional availability and officially compatible accessories remain unverified in these sources. A mention of stylus use or connector pins in the older leak is not proof that a pen or keyboard cover will be included or sold for the tablet.
What is the Nokia Lumia 2520 connection?
The comparison is design context, not evidence of shared hardware or accessory compatibility. In its October 22, 2013 product post, Microsoft Devices Blog described the Nokia Lumia 2520 as Nokia’s first Windows tablet, running Windows RT 8.1. Its stated specifications included a 10.1-inch 1920 × 1080 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage with microSD support up to 32 GB, an 8,000 mAh battery, LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and front-facing stereo speakers. - Rigorously tested for durability, with tough polycarbonate shell designed for portability.
- Long-lasting battery-life.
- Features a more portable 8” HD display with AI face unlock.
- 8MP rear camera with AF and flash, 2MP front camera.
- Android 12, with 2 years of OS upgrades and 3 years of monthly security updates.
Microsoft also described an optional Nokia Power Keyboard for the Lumia 2520. It added a touchpad, a protective wrap, two USB ports and an extra battery rated for up to five additional hours. Nokia product manager Paul Bischof called the Lumia 2520 “a complete package,” referring to that 2013 product—not to HMD’s rumored tablet. Nothing in the cited material shows that the Power Keyboard fits or works with the Slate Tab.
