What is HMD Pocket Link?
IT之家 reported that an X account, smashx_60, had disclosed a device called HMD Pocket Link and described it as a portable 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. Notebookcheck also attributed the device details to that account. If the leak is accurate, Pocket Link would be a standalone device for sharing a mobile connection over Wi-Fi, rather than a phone’s built-in tethering feature. Neither report amounts to an HMD announcement.
IT之家’s October 2, 2026 report and Notebookcheck’s coverage describe the leaked concept. The HMD newsroom is the company’s official press hub; the material reviewed did not surface a Pocket Link announcement there.

These reported details do not show how fast the hotspot would be in practice or how many devices it could serve reliably. Neither report establishes supported 5G bands, carrier certifications, regional versions or final specifications.
Is Pocket Link confirmed, priced or available?
No official confirmation, price or release date is established by the reports available. Notebookcheck specifically noted that the leak did not provide a price or release date. There is also no confirmed launch country or availability information. Treat Pocket Link as an unconfirmed leak, not a product you can currently assume will reach stores.

What should buyers check if HMD confirms it?
The “5G” label alone is not enough to tell whether a hotspot will work with a particular carrier or in a particular country. Before considering a purchase, look for HMD’s published regional specifications and verify:
- Supported 5G bands and carrier compatibility in your market.
- Whether the device uses a physical SIM, eSIM or both, and which mobile plans can be used.
- Battery runtime claims and the conditions or test method behind them.
- Wi-Fi capabilities, supported client count and any management or data-saving controls.
- Confirmed price, launch markets and availability.
Until those facts are published, it is not possible to assess Pocket Link’s carrier fit, value or performance against other hotspots. For readers who need a hotspot now, compare products that are actually available in their market using those same criteria; the leak does not establish Pocket Link as a purchasable alternative.
