Switch 2 Edition launch
Feral Interactive lists 22 October 2026 as the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The introductory period runs through 4 November 2026. A new buyer pays $29.99, £19.99 or €24.99 during that period, depending on region.

Prices from 5 November 2026
From 5 November, the new-buyer price becomes $39.99, £24.99 or €29.99. Existing Nintendo Switch owners can claim the Upgrade Pack free only through 4 November; after that deadline, the pack costs $9.99, £4.99 or €4.99. The deadline is calendar-based, so do not assume that owning the older version automatically preserves a free upgrade indefinitely.
Because Nintendo uses the account country for storefront details, a price shown in one country is not a universal worldwide price. Taxes, currency conversion and local offer presentation can also affect what appears at checkout; use the amount shown on your account’s store page as the payable figure.
What the Switch 2 Edition adds
The Switch 2 version keeps the underlying Absolution campaign and adds a package of platform-specific improvements. Feral’s 15 October 2026 announcement identifies the following changes.

Higher output resolution
Resolution is increased in both handheld and docked modes. The announcement does not provide a single pixel count for either mode, so treat “increased resolution” as the confirmed improvement rather than expecting a particular 1080p, 4K or handheld figure.
Handheld performance up to 60 FPS
Handheld frame-rate performance is improved to a maximum of 60 frames per second. “Up to” is important: it describes the ceiling, not a guarantee that every scene will run at 60 FPS. Feral also calls out demanding scenes separately when describing visual improvements, so performance can vary with what is happening on screen.
Joy-Con 2 mouse controls
The Edition supports mouse-control input from Joy-Con 2. This is a Switch 2 control option in addition to the game’s existing control features; it does not turn the game into a separate PC version or add a new campaign.

Improved animation and effects
Feral lists improved animations and visual effects, particularly in demanding scenes. These changes affect presentation rather than adding missions or changing the campaign’s stated mission count.
Higher-quality scene detail
Level of detail, shadow quality and texture filtering are improved. These are rendering upgrades that make geometry, shadows and surface textures appear clearer at appropriate viewing distances. The announcement does not promise a new art direction or a specific graphics preset selector.
What is in the underlying game?
Campaign and mission count
Nintendo’s listing identifies 20 missions. The Switch 2 Edition is the enhanced version of that same game, so the confirmed campaign scope is 20 missions rather than a newly expanded mission list.
Gameplay systems and modes
The Nintendo Switch release supports gyro aiming, Instinct Mode, Point Shooting and Challenges. These named systems carry into the Switch 2 Edition as part of the base game. Contracts mode is separately confirmed for Switch 2 on release day, giving players a cross-platform, challenge-setting mode in addition to the campaign and the other listed features.
Difficulty options
There are five difficulty settings, ranging from Easy to Purist. The range gives newcomers a lower-pressure entry point while preserving a highest-difficulty option for players who want the strictest challenge listed by Nintendo.

Nintendo lists Japanese, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Russian support. The listing does not break out which languages apply to voice, text or both, so consult the eShop details for your region if a specific localization type matters to you.

Age rating and local multiplayer status
The game is rated PEGI 18. Nintendo classifies it as single-system software, so the listing does not establish local multiplayer or a second-console mode. Contracts is described by Feral as cross-platform in its challenge-setting function, not as evidence of local split-screen play.
Is Contracts mode included?
Yes. Feral’s dated announcement says, “The cross-platform, challenge-setting Contracts mode will also be available on release day for Nintendo Switch 2 players.” That makes Contracts a launch feature of the Switch 2 release.
The announcement does not identify Contracts as a separately priced add-on. It also does not list a paid DLC bundle for the Switch 2 Edition. Buy the Edition for the confirmed base game and launch features; do not assume that an unlisted expansion, mission pack or cosmetic bundle is included. If the Nintendo eShop later displays a separately named DLC product, read that product’s own description and price rather than inferring its contents from the Edition listing.

No separate paid DLC bundle is identified in the authoritative launch announcement. The confirmed package is the 20-mission game, the Switch 2 upgrades and Contracts mode at release. That is different from saying that every piece of downloadable content ever associated with Absolution is included: no such broader DLC inventory is stated for this release.
For a purchase decision, treat “Contracts mode” as a launch mode, not as proof of a season pass or a collection of unannounced extras. Check the final eShop product page for any later, region-specific add-on listing before paying for an item described as DLC.
Is there a physical cartridge?
Nintendo labels the product as Nintendo Switch download software and provides a digital download size. The official information available for this release does not identify a physical cartridge, boxed special edition, dedicated guide or collectible edition.

Unless a later region-specific Nintendo listing proves otherwise, plan on a digital eShop purchase. Do not buy a physical case advertised elsewhere on the assumption that it contains a Switch 2 cartridge; the confirmed product information supports digital distribution only.
Storage, console and account requirements
Download size
Nintendo lists a 15.6 GB download size for the game. Keep at least that much usable storage available, with additional headroom sensible for download processing and future software management. The listing warns that an additional storage device may be required depending on your hardware and how you use the console.
Internet connection and system update
A digital purchase and download require an internet connection. Nintendo also advises that the console be updated. Before release day, install the latest available Switch 2 system update, connect to a reliable network and verify that the console has enough free storage.
Nintendo Account country
The country associated with your Nintendo Account controls the offer details and currency shown by Nintendo. If the store displays a price different from a US, UK or euro example quoted in a guide, the account region is the first thing to check. Do not change regions casually: storefront availability and account purchasing conditions can vary by country.
How to buy the game or claim the upgrade
New Switch 2 buyers
- Update the Switch 2 and connect it to the internet.
- Open Nintendo eShop with the Nintendo Account you will use to play and purchase the game.
- Search for “Hitman: Absolution Switch 2 Edition” and open the product page.
- Read the displayed price, release information, storage requirement and supported-language details for your account country.

Choose the Upgrade Pack if you already own the Switch version
For an existing owner with a Switch 2, claiming the free Upgrade Pack before 4 November is the clear value choice. It provides the confirmed platform enhancements without buying the base game again. Waiting until 5 November turns that free claim into a paid upgrade.
Buy the Switch 2 Edition during the introductory period if you are new
If you do not own Absolution and plan to play on Switch 2, the introductory price is lower than the regular price in each quoted currency: $10 less in the US example, £5 less in the UK example and €5 less in the euro example. The Edition includes the campaign and launch-day Contracts mode, so there is no separately listed launch DLC purchase required to access those confirmed features.
Buy the original Switch version only for an original Switch
Players who have not moved to Switch 2 can use the Nintendo Switch download version. It contains the stated 20 missions, gyro aiming, Instinct Mode, Point Shooting, Challenges and five difficulty settings, with a 15.6 GB download. It does not provide the Switch 2-specific resolution, performance, Joy-Con 2 mouse-control or visual upgrades because those belong to the Switch 2 Edition.
Price-timing checklist
- Before 22 October: The Switch 2 Edition has not yet reached its announced launch date.
- 22 October–4 November 2026: New buyers receive the introductory price, and existing Switch owners can claim the Upgrade Pack free.
- From 5 November 2026: New-buyer pricing rises to $39.99 / £24.99 / €29.99, and the Upgrade Pack becomes $9.99 / £4.99 / €4.99.
- At checkout: Use the Nintendo Account’s displayed country-specific price rather than converting a figure from another region.
Common buying problems and what to check
The eShop shows the wrong currency
Check the country setting on the Nintendo Account currently signed in to Nintendo eShop. Nintendo says that setting controls displayed offer details. A US-dollar, pound or euro amount quoted elsewhere may not apply to your account.
The free upgrade option is missing
Confirm that the account owns the Nintendo Switch version, that the date is on or before 4 November 2026, and that you opened the Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack rather than a new-game listing. If those conditions are satisfied and the offer is still absent, Nintendo’s account or regional support channel is the appropriate place to resolve an entitlement issue; do not purchase a second copy until the account status is clear.
There is not enough storage
Free space for the 15.6 GB download and update the console before trying again. Nintendo notes that an additional storage device may be required depending on hardware and use. Removing unused software or adding compatible storage can address the capacity problem, but the exact device requirement depends on the console and your setup.
You expected a cartridge
The confirmed product is Nintendo Switch download software. Recheck the listing and avoid assuming that a third-party box represents an official physical edition when Nintendo has not identified one.
You expected a DLC pack
Contracts mode is confirmed at launch, but a separate paid DLC bundle is not. Read each eShop item independently and purchase only an add-on whose contents and price are explicitly stated.
