The Hisense HRVF240 is a 240 L single-door appliance that operates as either a refrigerator or a freezer—not both at once. Hisense lists no-frost cooling, mode-specific energy figures and a three-year warranty, but accessible independent listings do not reveal enough test results to judge its cooling performance or reliability. The practical questions are whether its convertible format and installation envelope suit your household, and whether its published specifications meet your needs.
What kind of appliance is the HRVF240?
Hisense Australia describes the HRVF240 as a “Single Door Freezer or Refrigerator.” Its convertible system switches the cabinet between refrigerator and freezer operation, so treat the 240 L as capacity for one mode at a time. It is not a separate fridge-and-freezer combination. Hisense Australia’s product page presents it as a hybrid appliance; the specification sheet also identifies it as a freezer or refrigerator.

This format may suit someone who needs extra freezer capacity at one time of year and refrigerator capacity at another, or wants a dedicated cabinet for one function. It is less suitable if you need simultaneous fridge and freezer storage in this appliance. The published materials do not establish how much usable space remains after shelves and drawers are fitted, so consider the stated volume alongside the actual interior layout.

The Australian product materials list Total No Frost, Multi Airflow and Super Freeze/Super Cool modes. Hisense says Super Freeze lowers the temperature to -24°C; that is a manufacturer description of the mode, not an independently measured result. Other listed features include an internal electronic touch display, door alarm, reversible door hinge, recessed handle, soft LED lighting, safety-glass shelves, adjustable front legs and rear castors.

The specification sheet lists four fixed shelves and three full-width drawers. Because regional descriptions can differ, check the manual and product description supplied for the exact market before relying on a particular arrangement or assuming the shelves are adjustable.
Will it fit your kitchen or utility space?
The appliance itself measures 595 mm wide × 1720 mm high × 590 mm deep and weighs 55 kg, according to the Australian specification sheet. Hisense calls for 50 mm of clearance on each side, 50 mm at the rear and 100 mm above. That makes the required installed space larger than the cabinet dimensions alone.

How much electricity does it use?
Hisense’s specification sheet gives different annual figures for the two operating modes. CEC and PAEC are separate published metrics; they are not a guaranteed household bill or a direct prediction of consumption in every home. The sheet does not identify its publication year, and its figures should be read with the mode and metric attached.

| Operating mode | CEC | PAEC | Energy rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freezer | 279 kWh/year | 241.29 kWh/year | 3 stars |
| Refrigerator | 175 kWh/year | 111.95 kWh/year | 3 stars |
CHOICE lists claimed consumption of 279 kWh/year, which corresponds to the freezer-mode CEC figure on Hisense’s sheet; it is not a mode-neutral number. To estimate a bill, you would need an applicable consumption figure, your electricity tariff, and assumptions about the mode and conditions of use. No bill estimate is warranted from the listing alone.
The same specification sheet lists a rated supply of 220–240 V, 50 Hz, rated input of 200 W, a fixed-speed compressor, a stated noise level of 39 dB(A), and R600a refrigerant with a 38 g charge. It gives an operating temperature range of 10–43°C and climatic classes SN, N, ST and T. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements of real-world noise or performance.

CHOICE identifies the HRVF240 as tested in 2024 and lists its 240 L claimed volume, dimensions, three-star rating, claimed energy consumption of 279 kWh/year and three-year warranty. Its accessible listing withholds the expert rating and detailed results for temperature performance, food freshness, energy efficiency, noise and running costs behind membership. It also showed a price of $899, but that is a listing price, not a current-price guarantee.

- Wide Compatibility: Compatible with Hisense and other brand refrigerators. Please verify your machine model and part number (e.g., 1806104/WPF-34E) before purchasing. This thermostat is a direct replacement
- Sensor Probe Installation: If the temperature sensing line is too long, you may coil it up. Do not cut it, as cutting will permanently damage the thermostat. Please keep the original length
- Flexible Pin Configuration: Thermostat compatibility depends mainly on the number of pins and the probe length, not just the brand or model. If your original part is 2-pin, our 3-pin version can also work. A length difference of approximately 3cm is acceptable
- Pre-Purchase Recommendation: Please note: 90% of refrigerators that do not shut off do NOT have a faulty thermostat. We recommend having a local after-sales service check the issue before replacing any parts to avoid unnecessary waste
- Problem Resolution: Effectively solves common thermostat-related issues: no cooling, overcooling, compressor running continuously or not running at all, unstable temperature, and frequent cycling. Easy to install. Please check the pin and probe specifications before purchasing
Those public listings establish that the model appears in independent comparison resources, but do not support a conclusion that it cools consistently, runs quietly in practice, lasts well or is a best buy. The manufacturer’s feature claims and specification figures should not be mistaken for independent test results.
Warranty and setup details to check
Hisense lists a three-year warranty period for the Australian model. Before purchase, confirm the warranty card and full terms for your country, including that the seller and product are covered in your region. Hisense directs buyers to regional warranty documentation, and specifications may vary by country.
For installation, controls, care and troubleshooting, use the manual supplied with the appliance for your market. Hisense’s manual covers those topics and advises reading and retaining it. Do not rely on instructions for a different regional version if they conflict with the documentation packaged with your unit.
Quick Recap
Who should consider the HRVF240?
- It may fit your needs if you want one 240 L cabinet that can be switched between refrigerator and freezer use, and you have space for the appliance plus its required clearances.
- Look elsewhere or plan for another appliance if you need a fridge and freezer operating simultaneously in the same unit.
- Seek more evidence before deciding if independent results for temperature stability, food freshness, noise, running cost or durability are central to your choice; the accessible test listings do not provide those findings.
