The original Hisense G7 Ultra is a 27-inch 4K Mini LED gaming monitor launched in China on September 26, 2025. Its headline modes are 4K at 160Hz and 1080p at up to 320Hz, backed by 1,152 dimming zones and DisplayHDR 1400 certification. The reported China launch price was ¥3,299. No official U.S. launch or U.S. retail price has been verified, and newer Chinese listings also use the G7 Ultra name for a materially different specification.
Launch date and availability
Hisense announced the original G7 Ultra in China in September 2025, with preorders ahead of its reported China retail release on September 26, 2025. That establishes a China launch, not a global one. Contemporary coverage did not establish an official U.S. release or broader international availability. TCL Central’s launch coverage reports the launch timing; Notebookcheck’s coverage notes the uncertainty around international availability.
Import listings are not the same as an authorized local launch. Before buying one outside China, confirm the seller, destination-country shipping, return terms, power accessories, firmware and warranty. A reported three-year on-site warranty applies to China-market information; do not assume it is honored by Hisense service centers elsewhere.
Launch price
The reported China launch price was ¥3,299. One contemporary report gave an approximate conversion of about $462, but that is a currency conversion—not a U.S. MSRP, current U.S. price or landed import cost. Shipping, taxes or duties, payment fees and reseller margins can change the final amount, and no verified U.S. retail price was established. PConline’s product listing also identifies ¥3,299 as a reference price.

What the Mini LED and HDR specifications mean
The Fast IPS panel supplies the image, while a Mini LED backlight and local dimming control brightness in 1,152 zones. Compared with conventional edge-lit IPS, that arrangement can create stronger HDR contrast and bright highlights. It still cannot dim each pixel independently as an OLED can: a bright object against a dark background may produce a visible halo, especially around subtitles or desktop elements. The zone count alone does not establish how well the dimming performs in real scenes.

Hisense has claimed up to 2,000 nits peak brightness and algorithms intended to reduce blooming. Peak brightness is not sustained or full-screen brightness, and no independent measurements of brightness, HDR tone mapping or halo control were established in launch coverage. DisplayHDR 1400 is a certification level, not a promise that every scene—or the whole screen—will reach 1,400 or 2,000 nits. The reported “Obsidian Screen” coating is also claimed to reduce reflectivity to about 1.8%; that figure has not been independently verified here. Additional reported display details appear in AvalNews’ launch coverage.
How the dual-refresh modes suit different games
4K at up to 160Hz
This is the mode for players who want the detail of 4K alongside a high refresh ceiling. Reaching 160 frames per second in demanding games requires a suitably powerful PC; the monitor’s maximum does not mean every game or graphics card can sustain that rate. The graphics output and cable must also support the selected mode.

1080p at up to 320Hz
The lower-resolution mode is aimed at competitive games where high frame rates may matter more than fine detail. On a 27-inch 4K panel, 1080p is a substantial drop in sharpness compared with native 4K. It can be a reasonable trade for fast-paced esports, but less appealing for detailed, cinematic play.
The original launch specification is consistently reported as 320Hz at 1080p. A Notebookcheck headline refers to 330Hz, while its detailed report describes 320Hz; the more consistent figure for this original model is 320Hz. Likewise, “1ms GtG” is a claimed pixel-transition rating, not input lag and not proof of consistently clear motion across all overdrive settings. Launch coverage also reports FreeSync Premium, but does not establish the supported variable-refresh range.

Ports, USB-C, KVM and stand adjustments
The reported connection set includes DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, USB-C with up to 90W power delivery, USB-A, USB-B and a headphone output. A built-in KVM is reported to let one keyboard and mouse setup switch between connected systems. USB-C may carry video and charge a compatible laptop, but charging depends on the laptop and connection. The available launch reports do not specify the exact DisplayPort bandwidth, port count or the capabilities of every input at maximum refresh; check the precise model’s documentation, graphics output and cable before relying on a particular mode. Hardwareluxx’s coverage also describes the connection and ergonomic features.
The stand is reported to support height, tilt, swivel and pivot adjustments, with VESA mounting available. Those features make it more flexible for a desk shared between gaming and work, subject to the mount and desk setup chosen.

On paper, the reported 100% Adobe RGB, 99% DCI-P3 and 99% sRGB coverage, plus a factory-calibration claim of ΔE<2, make the monitor relevant to photo and video work as well as gaming. Gamut coverage describes the range of colors a display can reproduce; it does not by itself prove accuracy. The calibration figure is a reported claim, not evidence that every unit has been individually measured or will remain accurate over time.
A wide-gamut screen can make colors look oversaturated in applications that do not manage color. For dependable work, use color-managed software and an appropriate ICC profile; check whether the exact unit and firmware offer a reliable sRGB clamp if your workflow needs standard-gamut output. No independent measurements or confirmation of per-unit calibration were established in launch coverage, so critical color work calls for measurement of the individual monitor.
G7 Ultra name: check which model a listing describes
“G7 Ultra” is not enough to identify the specification. The original launch model is commonly listed as 27G7K-Ultra and has 1,152 dimming zones, 4K/160Hz and 1080p/320Hz. Later Chinese listings using the G7 Ultra name describe a different configuration with 2,304 zones, 4K/180Hz and a 360Hz dual mode. JD.com’s monitor listings show both specification sets, while PConline’s entry identifies the original model number.
Before paying, match the listing’s model number, resolution and refresh modes, and zone count to the product you intend to buy. Do not combine the original model’s price or ports with the later listing’s refresh rate and zone count unless a listing clearly establishes that they belong to the same unit.
Who should consider it?
- China-market buyers: The original launch price and local warranty context are most relevant to buyers purchasing through a China-market channel.
- HDR-focused gamers: The reported 1,152-zone Mini LED backlight and high peak-brightness claim are promising on paper, but sensitivity to blooming and the lack of independent HDR measurements matter.
- Competitive PC players: The 1080p/320Hz mode offers a high refresh ceiling, with a clear sharpness trade-off on a 27-inch panel.
- Laptop users: USB-C video, claimed 90W power delivery and KVM could simplify a multi-device desk, if the exact model implements the expected functions.
- International buyers needing straightforward support: Wait for a verified local listing if local warranty, easy returns or confirmed regional firmware are requirements.
Mini LED and OLED answer different priorities. Mini LED can offer high peak brightness and avoids OLED’s permanent burn-in risk in the same form, but its zones can produce blooming and IPS does not have per-pixel black control. OLED and QD-OLED provide essentially per-pixel blacks and typically faster pixel transitions, but buyers should weigh their own room brightness, use pattern, burn-in concerns and budget rather than treating either technology as universally better. If the listing or warranty is uncertain, compare the monitor with locally supported 4K IPS models, 1440p high-refresh esports displays, or OLED monitors rather than assuming the China launch price translates into an overseas deal.
