The Australian-market Hisense 75U7QAU is a feature-rich 75-inch 4K Mini-LED TV with four HDMI 2.1 inputs, VRR and VIDAA U9. It looks most appealing for sport and gaming when viewers sit near the centre of the screen. Its main trade-offs are reported blooming in dark scenes, weaker viewing from off-centre seats and limited built-in bass. One important caveat: Hisense advertises 165Hz, but independent reporting does not establish that the 75-inch model delivers that mode.
What the 75U7QAU is—and who it suits
The 75U7QAU is the 75-inch Australian-market model in Hisense’s 2025 U7QAU series. It uses a 4K panel with Mini-LED backlighting and the VIDAA U9 smart-TV platform. Its listed features make it a strong on-paper match for a large, bright living-room screen, sports and modern console or PC gaming.

GadgetGuy reviewer Chris Button reviewed a 65-inch U7QAU, not the 75-inch unit, and rated the range 8.2/10. He found it compelling for sports and gaming, while noting narrow optimal viewing angles, blooming in dark scenes and relatively little bass from the built-in speakers. Those are the reviewer’s observations, not controlled test results for this exact 75-inch television.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Good fit: a large screen for sport, streaming and gaming, with most viewers seated near the centre.
- Think twice: a wide seating arrangement, critical dark-room movie watching, or an expectation of powerful bass without external audio.

Is the 75U7QAU really a 165Hz TV?
Hisense lists 165Hz and says the mode requires a compatible PC connection. In its product documentation, the manufacturer states: “165Hz requires compatible content connection from compatible PCs with HDMI or DP input.” That describes a manufacturer claim and a connection requirement; it does not by itself confirm that every size in the range achieves 165Hz in use.
Independent reporting is not settled for the 75-inch version. GadgetGuy lists 165Hz in its U7QAU review. I’mTech’s Australian review, dated 2025-06-22, says its equipment indicated native 120/144Hz behavior and that its 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch models did not appear to support 166Hz gaming; it treats the 100-inch model differently. The reports conflict, so don’t buy this set on the assumption that 165Hz operation on the 75-inch unit has been independently verified.
Rank #2

For a buyer who mainly needs 4K gaming with VRR and several HDMI 2.1-connected devices, the published feature list is attractive. If a specific 165Hz mode is essential—for example, for a compatible high-frame-rate PC setup—confirm the exact 75U7QAU’s supported input modes with the retailer or manufacturer before committing.

Picture quality for sport, movies and different seating positions
Sport and bright-room viewing
GadgetGuy’s reviewer describes the U7QAU as a strong fit for his sports use. The large 4K screen and Mini-LED positioning make it a plausible choice for sport and general daytime viewing, but the available review evidence is a hands-on assessment of a 65-inch unit, not a brightness or motion laboratory test of the 75-inch model.
Rank #3
- HI - QLED MINILED: Striking contrast and vivid, lifelike color put every scene in a new light. Whether it's a sunny landscape or a candlelit drama, the picture leaps off the screen. Mini-LED backlighting uses hundreds of precise light zones to enhance contrast across the screen. Paired with Hi-QLED technology, every color comes through with stunning depth and accuracy
- NATIVE 144HZ REFRESH RATE: Fast breaks, high-speed chases, live finales — every frame stays crisp and fluid, so the action is always exactly where you need it to be. Native 144Hz refresh performance keeps movement fast and sharp, reducing blur during gameplay and live sports. The quick response helps you stay in control during competitive gaming while making rapid camera shots in shows and movies easier to follow
- BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER: Immersive deep bass from the built-in subwoofer pulls you into the heart of the moment, from the rumble of an explosion to the thump of your favorite song. Feel like you’re a part of the action
- ANTI-REFLECTION & GLARE-FREE: Bright rooms are no match for this screen. The anti-reflection and glare-free display keeps your view clean and distraction-free, so you stay focused on what matters — the show
- UNIBODY SLIM DESIGN: Edge-to-edge display and a seamless design that disappears into your room — so all you see is the picture
Dark scenes and off-centre seats
The most relevant picture caveat in GadgetGuy’s review is blooming: bright elements can show a halo against dark content, and the reviewer says it is more noticeable in dim scenes and from off-centre. He also reports a narrow optimal viewing angle. In practical terms, the main seat should be fairly central; buyers furnishing a wide room should consider whether side seats will see enough contrast and uniformity for their needs.
If dark-room films are the priority, compare the 75U7QAU in person with alternatives and pay particular attention to subtitles, stars or other bright details on a dark background. GadgetGuy positions the step-up U8QAU as having many more dimming zones, but the available information does not establish a full competitor ranking or prove that it is the better value for every buyer.

Gaming, streaming and everyday connections
Hisense lists four HDMI 2.1 inputs and VRR, useful features for connecting multiple current gaming devices and other HDMI equipment. It also lists AirPlay 2, Ethernet and VIDAA U9. GadgetGuy notes that Google Cast is absent, so check that the apps and casting methods you rely on are available before purchase.
Do not confuse the 75U7QAU with similarly named U7 televisions sold in other regions. Model suffixes and screen sizes matter: overseas U7Q, U7Q Pro or U7QG pages may describe different hardware or software. Use the exact Australian model number when checking specifications, compatibility or retailer listings. I’mTech also warns that regional and size variants are frequently confused in online specifications.

- DTS Virtual-X Sound: An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers.
Built-in sound and room setup
Hisense specifies a 2.1.2-channel speaker system. GadgetGuy’s reviewer found dialogue clear but bass limited, so viewers who want weightier sound for films or sport may want to budget for an optional soundbar. Hisense’s Hi-Concerto feature is described for selected Hisense audio products; it should not be assumed to work with every soundbar or home-theatre system.
Before ordering a 75-inch set, measure the furniture, doorway and installation route. The TV is 1668 mm wide, and the listed weight is 30 kg with its stand or 28.7 kg without. For wall installation, Hisense lists a 600 × 400 mm VESA pattern; confirm that the wall, bracket and installer can support the television.
Price and availability in Australia
When Hisense Australia’s product page was accessed on 2026-10-07, it displayed $2,099 including GST and marked the 75-inch product out of stock. That is a dated manufacturer listing, not a stable market price or a current buying recommendation. Check the exact model’s live price and stock at the time you shop, and compare like-for-like Australian 75-inch versions rather than similarly named overseas models.
How to decide whether to buy it
- Choose it if you want a large 4K screen with Mini-LED positioning, four HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR, and your usual viewing is from a central seat.
- Compare alternatives if your room has many side seats or dark-room movie contrast is a top priority; blooming and off-axis image changes were reported by GadgetGuy’s reviewer.
- Verify before buying if your decision depends on 165Hz gaming. Manufacturer marketing lists that rate, but independent reporting conflicts for the 75-inch size.
- Allow for external audio if you expect substantial bass beyond what the built-in speakers provide.
- Check the transaction for current stock, price, warranty and the full 75U7QAU model code.
CHOICE also has a page for the exact model, but its accessible listing does not expose the expert rating, recommendation or detailed pros and cons. No conclusion about CHOICE’s verdict can be drawn from that page.
