The Hisense 65S7NAU is a 2024 Australian 65-inch CanvasTV: a 4K VIDAA television designed to show artwork or personal photos when it is not being used for regular viewing. Its published specifications include a 144 Hz native refresh rate, quantum-dot technology, several HDR formats and gaming features, but those specifications are not a substitute for independent picture, sound or gaming measurements. CHOICE lists this exact model, but its public page does not reveal its test results. Whether it makes sense depends chiefly on whether you want the art-display features and can confirm local app support, current availability and price.
What the 65S7NAU is—and which version this review covers
This is the Australian Hisense 65S7NAU, a 2024 model with a 65-inch screen and VIDAA U8 smart-TV platform. It should not be confused with similarly named 65S7N models sold in other markets: Hisense says platform details vary by region. Check the full model suffix and the apps you need before buying. Hisense Australia’s product page identifies the Australian variant.

The CanvasTV concept is the central distinction: when you are not watching television, Art Mode can display artwork or personal photos. The supplied teak frame and UltraSlim wall mount are part of the proposition, rather than optional extras you need to source to get the basic framed look. Hisense also describes a hi-matte display, ambient-light adaptation and magnetic StyleSwap frames. These are manufacturer-described features, not independently verified performance findings.
What the published specifications say
Hisense Australia’s 2024 specification sheet lists the following for model 65S7NAU. Treat these as manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. 65S7NAU specification sheet.
#1 Best Overall
- Art Gallery: The CanvasTV transforms any room into a curated gallery experience, displaying stunning artwork and photography when you're not watching. Choose from more than 1,000 complimentary curated works across styles and eras, or display your own photos and collections. Swap collections, rotate pieces and change the mood of any room. It's not just a TV. It's a piece of art.
- Hi-Matte Display: Every detail the director intended — every shadow, every texture, every expression—comes through exactly as it should. The CanvasTV's anti-glare display eliminates reflections and distractions, so the story on screen is the only thing you see. Whether it's sunlight streaming through the window or a lamp behind the couch, the picture stays rich, clear and completely yours.
- Choose Your Frame – Teak Frame Included: Your art. Your style. Your space. The CanvasTV fits seamlessly into your home and shifts with your mood, from serene watercolors in the morning to bold abstracts in the evening. And with the included Teak Frame, it looks like a piece of art even when it's just hanging on your wall.
- Included UltraSlim Wall Mount: Designed to blend into your room — and take it over at the same time. The CanvasTV sits flush against the wall like a framed piece of art, with no bulk, no clutter and no compromise. Clean lines. Zero gap. All screen. The kind of design that makes guests stop and stare before they even realize it's a TV. And with the wall mount included, getting that perfect, gallery-worthy look has never been easier.
- 4K Hi - QLED Color: Every brushstroke. Every gradient. Every vivid hue—rendered in breathtaking 4K resolution. Whether you're watching a film or displaying a masterpiece, the CanvasTV brings color to life with a level of depth and accuracy that makes everything on screen feel real enough to reach out and touch.

Do not read “Smooth Motion Rate 240” as a 240 Hz native panel refresh rate: the sheet separately specifies 144 Hz native refresh. Nor does a list of HDR formats establish how bright the display gets in use or how well it renders HDR. The sheet does not list Dolby Atmos. Without accessible independent measurements, these figures cannot establish picture quality, reflections, viewing angles, audio quality, gaming responsiveness or real-world brightness.
How Art Mode and personal photos work
Hisense says the TV includes an art library and lets owners upload personal photos through the VIDAA app. The company claims more than 1,000 art pieces are available after signing in to a free VIDAA account, while 300 are available without signing in. Those are Hisense’s stated library counts; content and app availability can vary. Check that the app and account workflow suit your region and preferences.

- Art Mode: Show off your taste in art when you’re not watching your TV. Select a single picture or create a slideshow of paintings that match your mood. You can even share all your favorite photos on the big screen by connecting a USB or snapping a picture of a QR code.
- Choose Your Frame: Switch in (and out) the CanvasTV’s magnetic frame whenever the mood strikes. Just snap it into place and voila! The CanvasTV comes with the teak frame, but you can also opt for the white or walnut frame, both sold separately.
- Hi-Matte Display: Admire your favorite works of art without the glare. A special, low reflection coating enhances your masterpiece-viewing experience by giving the digital artwork the depth and texture of real paintings.
- Multi-Channel Surround Sound: Get in on the action, whether you’re watching movies, playing games, or listening to music. 2.0.2 surround sound fills up your room and transports you into the scene.
- UltraSlim Wall Mount: Hang your CanvasTV flush against the wall to save space and blend in with your decor. The innovative, two-part mounting system makes the screen light enough that it’s easy to handle and install with the help of another person.
The built-in motion detector is specified to operate only in Art Mode, at a distance of 2–4 metres. Hisense cautions that performance may vary with lighting, so do not assume it will reliably switch the display on or off in every room. The manufacturer also warns that an uneven wall or incorrect installation can leave a small gap behind the set.
Ports, gaming features and sound
Gaming connections
The published input list assigns VRR and ALLM to all four HDMI ports, with HDMI 3 and 4 specified as HDMI 2.1 and HDMI 1 and 2 as HDMI 2.0. HDMI 3 is the port with eARC as well. The 144 Hz native-refresh specification and listed VRR/ALLM are relevant features for gaming, but they do not establish performance with a particular console or PC. Confirm the capabilities you need against the device, resolution and refresh-rate combination you plan to use.

Audio and eARC
The built-in audio is listed as 2 × 10 W. HDMI 3 supports eARC, so a compatible soundbar is an option if you want an external audio system. The published output rating alone cannot tell you whether the TV’s speakers will be adequate for your room or whether a soundbar will materially improve your experience.

That makes a definitive performance verdict unjustified from the publicly available evidence here. The specifications describe what Hisense says the set supports; they do not show how it performs against another television. Retailer customer comments, including reports of occasional art-download trouble, are anecdotal and do not establish a verified defect rate.
