Reports published October 6, 2026, say he did not reveal whether the movie is Japanese or international, and no release schedule has been confirmed.
What Kojima has confirmed
During the returning KOJI10 radio show, Kojima said he had already filmed “a few other things,” including a role in a big live-action movie and one in a major anime title. The reports do not name either production, describe his characters, or provide release dates. NME’s October 6, 2026 report says he stayed silent when asked whether the film was Japanese or international; GamesRadar+’s report also describes the announcement.

Is the movie Godzilla Minus Zero?
That has not been confirmed. NME reports that fans have speculated Kojima’s movie cameo could be in Godzilla Minus Zero, partly because he is friends with director Takashi Yamazaki. It remains fan speculation: Kojima has not identified the movie, and the reporting does not establish a connection to the film.
How the tease fits his earlier appearances
GamesRadar+ notes that the KOJI10 discussion also referred to Kojima’s appearance as Commissioner Watanuki in the Japanese crime drama Vivant and his voice role in the Japanese dub of Zootopia 2. Those are prior appearances, not evidence that either is one of the unnamed future projects.

In the same discussion, Kojima explained his preference for playing a character rather than himself: “I don’t like playing myself. That happens a lot. I’d rather play a detective or something.”
