Hideo Kojima reportedly shared coverage of a fan-built Windows port of P.T., but the project is still in progress and has no announced release date. Its creator, LoreanXavier, describes it as a native C++ and Vulkan implementation—not an emulator or remake—that uses data files from the player’s own copy of the game.
What Kojima acknowledged—and what that does not mean
Contemporaneous coverage reported that Kojima shared an article about LoreanXavier’s project on social media. The original post was not independently retrieved, so there is no verified Kojima quote or evidence of what he intended by sharing it. The available reporting supports “acknowledged” or “shared coverage,” not that he praised, endorsed, approved, or authorized the port. A social-media share also does not grant permission to distribute the project or game assets. The Double Kill’s October 6, 2026 report covered the reported share.

How the native PC port is being made
LoreanXavier describes the work as a native Windows port, rather than emulation, a wrapper, or a remake in another engine. In the creator’s September 30, 2026 project post, they say they are reverse-engineering the PS4 executable and rebuilding the game logic and rendering in C++ and Vulkan. The port loads data files from the player’s own copy of P.T.; the project description says it does not supply game files. Read the creator’s project post on Reddit.

What the creator says currently works
The creator reports that the current build covers the flow from the first-boot options and preface through the ending, including the voice step. The project post lists support for Lua scripts, traps, cutscenes, character animation, original audio data, controller vibration, mouse and keyboard, contemporary controllers, arbitrary resolutions, and frame rates above the original game’s 30 fps cap. A separate technical summary also reports optional AMD FSR 3.1. These are developer and project-report claims, not independently tested results. Bloody Disgusting’s October 5, 2026 summary covers the reported feature set.
What remains unfinished
The creator says some lighting and material differences remain in a few rooms, some timing details still need work, and side-by-side checks are continuing. The project is explicitly described as a work in progress. No release date is given, so the reported progress should not be read as evidence that the port is available to download. Earlier secondary coverage mentioned an approximate completion percentage, but that figure is not verified in the creator’s opened project post and is not a dependable measure of completeness.

Why a PC port of P.T. draws interest
P.T.—short for “Playable Teaser”—was released as a free PlayStation 4 experience in 2014 to tease Silent Hills, a planned Silent Hill project that was later cancelled. The demo was removed from the PlayStation Store after the cancellation. That history helps explain interest in preservation and access, but the current project does not itself resolve how someone without the original data files could obtain them. Wikipedia’s overview of P.T. provides basic historical and storefront context.
