How to find the best Heroes of History heroes
InnoGames Customer Support’s answer to “Which heroes are the best?” is direct: “There’s no single best hero.” The game’s in-app Meta Report ranks each hero from S to F separately for each battle mode. Its ratings use real usage data and are updated regularly; a newly released hero without usage data receives an initial developer rating. InnoGames explains how the report works.

- Open the profile of a hero you are considering, or open the full ranking for the battle mode you want to play.
- Check that mode’s grade, rather than treating a hero’s rating in one mode as universal.
- Compare the hero’s role with the gaps in your own team. A high tier alone does not show whether a hero fits your lineup.
The official report is the strongest source for current, mode-specific decisions. Pocket Gamer’s list is useful for a quick role-by-role comparison, but it is a third-party assessment and can become outdated as the game changes.

Pocket Gamer notes that A- and B-tier heroes can still work depending on a player’s roster, while advising against investing too heavily in its C-tier group. The table groups heroes into Heavy Infantry, Infantry, Ranged, Cavalry, and Siege. Use the role as a practical filter, then consider whether the hero complements the rest of your lineup. A tier list cannot account for every roster or team combination, and the available guide does not provide a complete synergy chart. For a decision you can apply to your account:

- Start with the Meta Report grade for the battle mode you care about.
- Check whether the hero’s role fills a gap in your current team rather than choosing solely by tier.
- Consider how far the hero is awakened and what additional investment your roster would require.
- Recheck the report after updates or when a hero’s availability and your team change.
Getting heroes and building your roster
Heroes of History is a free-to-play city-building and hero-collection game for Android, iOS, and browser. InnoGames’ current game page says players can recruit and upgrade over 70 historic and mythological heroes for real-time battles, PvE time-travel campaigns, competitive PvP, and alliances; optional in-game purchases are available. InnoGames Support says heroes are obtained mainly through the Time Portal. The regular and Legendary portals differ, and other portals may appear with seasons, events, or rotations. Promotions can increase the chance of a specific hero or double the chance of a 5-star hero. Duplicate summons become Hero Essence for Awakening; duplicates of fully awakened heroes become Chrono Crystals. Portal drop-rate details are available on the portal screen.
