Hero V12 is a travel-focused website opening section built around a split layout: introductory copy and proof points sit beside a large alpine-lake photograph, with a stay-search form overlapping the image. Colorlib describes it as plain HTML and CSS with a small amount of vanilla JavaScript; it can be used on its own or added to a Bootstrap project. Its listed license is CC BY 3.0, with Colorlib stating that its credit link must remain for personal and commercial use.
What Hero V12 is designed to do
Hero V12 is aimed at holiday-rental, hotel, travel, and real-estate homepages. Its layout pairs a headline, introduction, and three proof points on the left with a large alpine-lake image on the right. A white search bar overlays the image, making booking discovery the main action rather than a single generic call-to-action.

What the search form includes
The listing describes four inputs:
- Location
- Check-in date
- Check-out date
- Number of guests
Colorlib says the form uses visible labels and native text, date, and select controls. Its description says the script prefills dates, keeps checkout at least one night after check-in, relies on browser validation, and reports a search in a status region. These are publisher-described behaviors; the downloaded files and working form have not been independently inspected. Treat the form as a front-end starting point, not evidence of a connected booking system.

How it is described technically
Colorlib describes the download as 364 KB and says it can run as a standalone section or sit inside a Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 project. Its collection page characterizes the heroes as plain HTML and CSS with vanilla JavaScript where needed, without jQuery, Bootstrap files, or plugins. These are publisher claims, not independently measured file size or dependency checks. The page’s collection-level implementation description is available at Colorlib’s hero and jumbotron examples.
That makes the key implementation distinction straightforward: Bootstrap compatibility does not mean Bootstrap is required. Before integrating the download, inspect the actual files for their included assets, styles, scripts, and license terms, then check whether its CSS or JavaScript conflicts with your existing site.

Is Hero V12 a good fit for your homepage?
It is most relevant when the page serves people looking for a place to stay and the primary action is beginning a search. For a software product, agency, event, or restaurant homepage, the travel-specific fields and imagery may be a mismatch; a simpler hero with a suitable call-to-action is likely more appropriate. Colorlib’s collection includes examples for those other audiences as well.
- Audience: The visual and copy structure are oriented toward hospitality and travel.
- Composition: The split text-and-photo arrangement gives the image a prominent role, while the overlapping form combines discovery and search in one area.
- Conversion action: The form is suited to a stay search; it is not simply a decorative banner or a single-button layout.
- Mobile layout: Check that the form remains readable and usable on a phone, especially where it overlaps the photograph.
- Integration: Confirm the downloaded asset’s requirements and test it within your own CSS and component setup.
These are practical selection criteria, not a measured ranking or claim that this template improves bookings.

Design checks before publishing
A large image can make a hero feel distinctive, but text and controls must remain legible against it. Colorlib recommends using an overlay when needed, planning an intentional phone layout, considering the weight of video backgrounds, and respecting reduced-motion preferences. Its examples also show a CSS visual as an alternative to a continuously loaded video. Those are design recommendations; no independent accessibility, performance, or usability test results are available for Hero V12 itself.
Does Bootstrap 5 still have a jumbotron?
Colorlib’s 2026 collection says Bootstrap 5 no longer ships the jumbotron component. A jumbotron-like opening block can still be assembled with utility classes: Bootstrap’s official 5.3 documentation provides a jumbotron example. Hero V12 is a separate template section, and Colorlib presents it as usable without requiring Bootstrap.

Check the terms included with the downloaded asset before publishing, and do not assume the same conditions apply to CodePen examples: Colorlib says those belong to their respective authors and have their own licenses.
