The numbers come from different reporting windows: Amazon’s official headline covers the sale’s first 12 hours, while Fortune India reports brand and payment figures across windows ranging from 24 to 48 hours. They should not be treated as one synchronized snapshot.
Amazon’s first 12 hours set the opening context
Amazon India said products ordered during the Great Indian Festival’s first 12 hours were up more than 100% year over year. The company also said customers from every Indian pin code placed an order. These are figures from Amazon’s official October 9, 2026 results announcement, not independently audited sales data: Amazon’s opening-results announcement.

Fortune India reported more than 440 million visits during the event’s initial phase. That is a traffic figure, distinct from orders or purchases, and Fortune’s October 11 report attributes the sale results to company reporting: Fortune India’s report on the opening.

EMI was common, but the reported shares use different measures
Amazon’s official account says one in two customers shopped using EMI during the first 12 hours. Fortune India reports that more than one in three customers opted for EMIs. Because the sources do not establish identical periods or definitions, the difference does not by itself show that EMI use rose or fell.
Fortune India also says Amazon Pay Later EMI transactions doubled year over year. That is a separate reported growth measure, not the share of all customers using EMI. The available figures describe payment activity; they do not establish that EMI caused the brands’ sales increases or explain why customers chose it.

One named deal: Hero MotoCorp Destini 125

How to read the opening claims
- Keep time windows attached to figures. Amazon’s headline result is for 12 hours; Fortune India’s Hero result covers 48 hours, and its American Tourister result covers 24 hours.
- Separate sales from visits. Fortune India’s 440 million-plus figure refers to visits, while the other claims describe orders, sales, demand or payment use.
- Treat company-reported results as attributed claims. Amazon’s announcement and Fortune India’s reporting describe early performance, not an independent audit or a guarantee of ongoing deals.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
