Hellraiser: Revival’s puzzles revolve around the Genesis Configuration, a puzzle box that changes both objects and the spaces around Aidan. Expect environmental problems, conventional locks and situations where turning around or changing your viewpoint is the intended solution. On PS5, check stick sensitivity, inversion, vibration, adaptive-trigger effects, difficulty, tutorial reminders, manual saves and offline pausing before you begin.
The official pages do not publish button bindings, a remapping chart or the exact menu path for these options. Treat the settings below as features confirmed for the PS5 listing, then verify their labels and availability in your current game menus.

What the Genesis Configuration does
The Genesis Configuration is not merely a key item that opens a fixed set of doors. Assistant Game Director Vid Rajin describes it as “a puzzle box” at the centre of the game, used both to build puzzles and to manipulate the world. The PlayStation Blog feature presents it as the main link between what you do in a puzzle interface and what changes in the surrounding environment.

One example places Aidan in a room filled with spikes and walkways that do not initially line up. The solution involves turning a giant wheel so the walkways realign. The important lesson is that the object you manipulate may be physically separate from the path you need to create. When a room appears impossible to cross, look for a large mechanism that can alter the room’s geometry rather than searching only for a nearby door switch.

- A New Story in Hellraiser's Canon – Unwittingly kickstart Pinhead’s ritual to unleash greater pain and pleasure than ever before.
- Harness the Power of the Box – Combine the unique, hellish abilities of the Configuration with an arsenal of earthly weapons to inflict bone-breaking, flesh-searing pain - or is it pleasure? - upon masochistic enemies.
- Fight Against Unholy Enemies – Take on hell's wretches, deviants, cultists, and even its most infernal priests in a story-driven horror survival game.
Changing an object into a useful key
Another example takes place in a courtyard. Gates require a statue’s missing item, but progression depends on changing a box into the correct shape so it can serve as the key. This indicates that the Genesis Configuration can affect an object’s form and function. If you find an item that seems close to what a lock needs, consider whether it can be transformed instead of discarded as irrelevant.
The puzzle styles you should expect
The feature describes several different types of problems. They share the Genesis Configuration, but they do not all demand the same kind of reasoning.
Environmental reasoning
Environmental puzzles ask you to understand a room as a system. A wheel may realign platforms, a changed object may satisfy a gate, or a mechanism may alter how separate areas connect. Before interacting repeatedly with one object, scan the whole space and note what visibly moves, opens, rotates or changes when you use it.
Perspective and route changes
In one looping-room sequence, continuing forward is not the answer. Aidan must turn back. Rajin explains that “The labyrinth Aidan is trapped in is intertwined with the real world,” and that the environment is trying to make him change perspective and try another approach. If a corridor keeps returning you to the same place, stop assuming that more forward movement will eventually break the loop. Re-examine the room, your previous actions and the direction you entered from.
Sliding-picture and diagram locks
The blog also shows a safe that uses a sliding-picture mechanism and a diagram clue. This is a conventional visual lock: the clue supplies a relationship or arrangement, while the safe’s pieces must be positioned to match it. Read diagrams as instructions about order, orientation or alignment rather than as decoration. If the mechanism has several movable panels, record the starting arrangement before making changes so you can reconstruct your steps.

Lock-picking and combination puzzles
Lock-picking and safe-combination puzzles provide more familiar forms of interaction. The official feature confirms their presence but does not publish their exact sequences, timing requirements or button inputs. Do not rely on a universal control scheme from another game; use the prompt shown by your current PS5 build.
Multiple solutions
Some puzzles allow more than one solution. The feature confirms that flexibility without revealing the possible solutions. That means an apparently different answer is not necessarily a mistake, and a guide that presents one route may not describe every valid route. Experiment when the game gives you room to do so, but avoid assuming that every puzzle has a hidden alternate ending or reward; the official material does not establish those outcomes.
A practical method for solving puzzles without spoilers
The following process uses the documented puzzle design without inventing solutions, button presses or undisclosed story details.
- Survey the entire area. Identify doors, gates, gaps, wheels, statues, boxes, diagrams, movable panels and anything that changes state. Environmental solutions often depend on relationships between objects that are not adjacent.
- Read the visual clue before operating the mechanism. For a diagram or picture lock, note symbols, orientation, repeated shapes and relative positions. If the clue is on a wall or nearby object, look at it from more than one angle before moving the lock’s pieces.
- Test one interaction and watch the environment. After using the Genesis Configuration or a large mechanism, check walkways, openings, gates and object shapes. The useful result may be several metres away or behind you.
- Reconsider direction when progress loops. If forward movement repeats the same space, turn back and inspect what changed. The looping-room example specifically makes a return trip meaningful.
- Separate “wrong” from “incomplete.” A lock may accept a partial arrangement, or an item may need to be transformed before it fits. Check whether the game has changed the object’s shape, position or surrounding route before abandoning an idea.
- Keep a short record of states. Write down a panel order, wheel position or combination clue. This prevents random cycling and lets you restore a useful arrangement after testing another possibility.
- Use the game’s support features deliberately. If a tutorial reminder is available, review it rather than guessing at an unfamiliar interaction. Lowering difficulty can provide a more manageable experience, but the official listing does not specify which puzzle elements change.
This approach is intentionally non-spoiler: the official feature confirms the puzzle categories and examples, not the complete answers. Exact solutions may vary where the game permits multiple approaches.
PS5 settings to check before starting
The official PS5 product and accessibility listing, accessed October 13, 2026, names several options relevant to comfort, feedback and support. It lists the game for PS5 and gives an October 8, 2026 release date. The page describes features at a high level rather than documenting every value or menu location.

| Setting or feature | What the official listing establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Stick sensitivity | Adjustable stick sensitivity is listed. | No numeric range, separate horizontal and vertical values, default value or exact label is supplied. |
| Stick inversion | Inversion options are listed. | The page does not say which axes can be inverted or whether inversion is available separately for every camera or movement function. |
| Controller vibration | The game can be played without vibration; DualSense vibration is also supported. | No intensity scale, per-event controls or menu path is supplied. |
| Adaptive trigger effects | The game can be played without adaptive trigger effects; DualSense trigger effects are supported. | No strength setting or per-action configuration is documented. |
| Difficulty | Difficulty is adjustable, including an alternative preset that reduces difficulty. | No specific preset name, selection screen or list of changed mechanics is published. |
| Tutorial reminders | Tutorial information can be reviewed at any time. | The exact reminder menu and whether every tutorial appears there are not stated. |
| Manual saving | Manual save points are listed. | Save restrictions, frequency, number of slots and the exact save command are not documented. |
| Pause | Offline play can be paused during gameplay and cinematics. | The listing does not specify the pause button, online behavior or whether every transition can be paused. |
How to choose the physical-control options
Stick sensitivity
Start with a sensitivity level that lets you make small camera adjustments without fighting the stick. If looking around a puzzle room feels sluggish, increase it; if you overshoot diagrams, lock parts or narrow ledges, reduce it. Because the listing provides no values or axis breakdown, make changes in small increments and check both exploration and close-up interactions.

Inversion
Choose the vertical or horizontal orientation that matches your established preference. The listing confirms inversion as an option but does not say whether it applies to one axis, several axes or specific controls. Verify the behavior in a safe area before entering a puzzle where camera orientation matters.
Vibration and adaptive triggers
DualSense vibration and trigger effects are supported, but both can be disabled. Keep them enabled if physical feedback helps you notice interactions or movement resistance. Disable one or both if repeated pulses, trigger tension or other effects are distracting, uncomfortable or difficult to distinguish from important events. These are optional sensory cues, not requirements for solving the puzzles.
Difficulty, tutorials, saves and pausing
Difficulty adjustment
The PS5 listing says an alternative preset can reduce difficulty. Use it when the pressure of an encounter or the overall challenge interferes with your ability to read environmental clues. Since the source does not describe the preset’s individual changes, do not assume it removes puzzles, adds hints or alters a particular lock.
Tutorial reminders
Tutorial information can be reviewed at any time. This is useful for the Genesis Configuration, unusual environmental interactions and lock interfaces that you may not use frequently. The official pages do not state the menu route, so look for the game’s own tutorial, help or tips entry rather than following an unverified button guide.

- DEEP THRILLING ATMOSPHERE - Explore the sleepy Saint-Exil region through a deep environmental narrative and discover a cult obsessed with sending sinners out to sea and why the military so obsessed with small, sleepy French coastal town?
Manual saving
Manual save points are listed, but the source does not explain when saving is permitted or how many slots exist. Save after a significant puzzle solution or before experimenting with a mechanism when the game presents a valid save opportunity. Do not assume that a manual save can be created during every cinematic, puzzle animation or transition.
Pausing offline play
Offline play can be paused during gameplay and cinematics. This is valuable when you need to inspect a diagram, adjust an accessibility option or take a break without leaving a scene running. The listing does not promise the same behavior for online features, and it does not publish the pause-button assignment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is and is not documented about controls
No verified button-binding table or complete remapping description appears in the reviewed official listing or PlayStation Blog feature. The sources therefore do not establish which button operates the Genesis Configuration, how lock-picking is started, whether camera and movement can be remapped independently, or whether every interaction has alternate inputs.
Do not infer controls from another survival-horror game, a trailer, a DualSense convention or a controller diagram posted for a different platform. Use the on-screen prompt in your current PS5 version and inspect the game’s own control or accessibility screens. If an option is absent, the official pages provide no basis for claiming that it exists under another name.
A pre-play checklist
- Confirm that you are using the PS5 version covered by the official listing; feature parity on other versions is not established by that page.
- Set stick sensitivity and inversion before a long puzzle sequence, then test camera movement in an ordinary room.
- Decide whether vibration and adaptive-trigger effects help or hinder you; both can be omitted.
- Locate the difficulty adjustment and note which alternative preset the game offers, without assuming what it changes.
- Open the tutorial or help area once so you know where reminders are available later.
- Identify when manual save points can be used and make a save before extensive experimentation when the game permits it.
- Test pausing during offline gameplay and a cinematic if you need that capability for breaks or reading clues.
- Keep expectations realistic about remapping: exact bindings and menu paths are not published in the reviewed official sources.
Common problems and how to respond
“I keep moving forward and return to the same place.”
Stop treating the loop as a navigation test. The documented looping-room example requires turning back, so retrace your route and inspect the environment for a changed perspective or newly meaningful object.
Best Value
“The object looks almost right for the gate.”
Check whether the Genesis Configuration can change its shape. The courtyard example uses a transformed box as a key, so an item’s initial form may not be its final use.
“I cannot tell whether a mechanism changed anything.”
After operating a wheel or puzzle device, scan the full room and nearby routes. The spike-room example changes walkways, which may be the real result rather than a new prompt at the device itself.
“The controller feedback is uncomfortable.”
Disable vibration, adaptive-trigger effects or both. The PS5 listing explicitly says the game can be played without those effects, while still supporting them for players who prefer the extra feedback.
Recommended Free Tools
“A guide’s button instructions do not match my game.”
Rely on the current on-screen prompt and your in-game control settings. The official pages reviewed do not publish a binding table, so a third-party sequence cannot be treated as an authoritative control standard.
Platform and information limits
This guide’s setting details are limited to the official PS5 listing. That page does not confirm that identical sensitivity, inversion, feedback, difficulty, tutorial, save or pause behavior exists on another edition or platform. It also does not provide exact menu labels, values or button assignments. Recheck the current product page and the menus in your installed version if an update changes the available options.
