Short answer: HCLTech reported a total FY26 dividend of ₹60 per share, equal to a 97.6% payout of net income. Its Board says it will distribute at least 75% of net income cumulatively through FY31, but that policy does not guarantee a fixed annual dividend. FY26 revenue was ₹130,144 crore and net income ₹17,361 crore; the company’s October 12, 2026 Q2 FY27 update reported ₹35,620 crore of quarterly revenue, ₹70.22 diluted EPS and a ₹12 dividend. A current judgement that the shares are cheap, expensive, a buy or a sell cannot be made without a dated market price and a defined earnings basis.

What HCLTech reported for FY26

HCLTech’s FY26 results show why investors should separate revenue growth, profit growth, cash generation and segment performance rather than rely on one headline number. The company reported revenue of ₹130,144 crore, up 11.2% in rupees. On a constant-currency basis, revenue grew 3.9%. Services constant-currency revenue grew 4.8%, while HCLSoftware constant-currency revenue declined 4.1%.

FY26 measure HCLTech reported figure How to read it
Revenue ₹130,144 crore 11.2% growth in rupees; 3.9% growth in constant currency
Net income ₹17,361 crore Down 0.2% year over year
Diluted EPS ₹64.01 Down 0.1% year over year
EBIT ₹22,397 crore 17.2% of revenue
Return on invested capital 40.3% Company-reported FY26 ROIC
Free cash flow 107% of net income Company-reported conversion ratio
Annualized Advanced AI revenue $620 million Annualized revenue as described by HCLTech, not a forecast
New-deal total contract value $9,323 million Company-reported FY26 TCV

The different growth rates matter. Rupee revenue can benefit from currency movements, while constant-currency growth is intended to show operating momentum without that translation effect. Services and HCLSoftware also moved in different directions. Net income and diluted EPS were broadly flat despite the increase in reported revenue, so an investor should examine margins, mix, currency and costs before treating the revenue increase as equivalent profit growth.

How much dividend does HCLTech pay?

For FY26, HCLTech reported a total dividend of ₹60 per share. The company reported that this represented a 97.6% payout ratio of net income. That is a historical, full-year figure for FY26; it is not the same as a live dividend yield.

In its October 12, 2026 Q2 FY27 update, HCLTech reported a quarterly dividend of ₹12 per share. A quarterly payment should not automatically be multiplied by four to predict a full-year dividend. Future payments depend on the Board’s declarations, earnings, cash needs and the terms of the capital-allocation policy.

What the FY31 policy means

HCLTech’s annual-report value-creation discussion says the Board extended its capital-allocation policy in April 2026. The commitment is to distribute at least 75% of net income cumulatively through FY31. “Cumulatively” is important: the policy applies across the period, allowing payments in individual years to vary. It is not a promise that shareholders will receive a minimum fixed rupee amount, or exactly 75% of each year’s profit, every year.

The policy is therefore best used as an indication of management’s intended capital-return framework. It does not remove the ordinary uncertainties around earnings, cash flow, acquisitions, investment requirements, Board decisions or the timing of declared dividends.

Why ₹60 is not a dividend yield

Dividend yield requires two dated inputs: the dividend basis and the share price. The basic calculation is:

Dividend yield = dividend per share ÷ share price × 100

Rank #2

For a meaningful result, specify whether the dividend is the latest annual total, a trailing 12-month amount or an analyst estimate, and use the share price on a stated date. The available exchange page did not provide a usable October 13, 2026 numeric price or yield, so no current HCLTech yield should be inferred from the ₹60 FY26 payment or the ₹12 quarterly payment.

What the latest Q2 FY27 update says

HCLTech’s investor-relations page, updated with the October 12, 2026 Q2 FY27 release, reports:

Q2 FY27 item Reported figure
Revenue ₹35,620 crore, up 11.5% year over year in rupees
Diluted EPS ₹70.22
Quarterly dividend ₹12 per share
Constant-currency revenue growth 2.6% year over year
FY27 company revenue-growth guidance 2.5%–4.0% in constant currency
FY27 services growth guidance 3.0%–4.0% in constant currency
FY27 EBIT-margin guidance 17.5%–18.5%

The growth and margin ranges are company guidance, not realized results. They apply to the FY27 outlook stated on that October page and should not be mixed with earlier guidance from the April FY26 release. As new quarters are reported, investors should compare actual constant-currency growth and EBIT margin with these ranges and note any changes in the company’s guidance.

What are the risks of investing in HCLTech shares?

HCLTech’s own FY26 materials identify several uncertainties. They are useful questions for analysis, not quantified predictions of a particular share-price loss.

Technology-services demand can weaken

Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra described FY26 as taking place against “cautious technology services spending, macro-economic uncertainty and geopolitical volatility.” CEO and Managing Director C. Vijayakumar likewise referred to continued softness in discretionary technology spending by global enterprises and geopolitical volatility. When clients delay projects or limit discretionary work, new bookings can take longer to convert into revenue and utilization or pricing can come under pressure.

Delayed decisions and discretionary spending

The FY26 results release describes lower discretionary spending and delayed client decisions. Essential or regulatory technology work may continue while transformation projects are postponed. Investors should watch order conversion, large-deal timing, client concentration and the split between recurring or committed work and discretionary projects. A strong order book does not establish the exact quarter in which revenue will be recognized.

Currency and reported-growth differences

The 11.2% rupee revenue increase was higher than the 3.9% constant-currency increase. Exchange rates can therefore materially affect reported results for an internationally exposed services company. Compare both measures, and examine whether margin movement comes from operating performance, currency translation, pricing, utilization or cost actions.

Margin execution

FY26 EBIT was ₹22,397 crore, or 17.2% of revenue. The latest FY27 guidance range is 17.5%–18.5%. Reaching a guidance range depends on demand, wage and subcontractor costs, utilization, pricing, mix, currency and restructuring or investment spending. A margin target is not evidence that a particular level will be achieved.

Artificial-intelligence disruption and opportunity

HCLTech reports annualized Advanced AI revenue of $620 million and presents AI as an opportunity. It also acknowledges that AI-led deflation can put pressure on established work. Automation may reduce the effort, pricing or headcount associated with some existing services even as new AI-related offerings create revenue. The key questions are whether new work offsets that pressure, how quickly clients adopt it, and whether the resulting work carries sustainable margins. The $620 million figure is annualized revenue as described by the company, not a promise of future growth.

Geopolitical and macroeconomic volatility

Geopolitical events can affect client budgets, delivery locations, travel, data rules, currency and the timing of contracts. Macroeconomic uncertainty can also change customers’ technology priorities. HCLTech’s Chairperson expressed confidence in the company’s order book, client relationships and deal pipeline, but that is management’s assessment and should be tested against subsequent reported bookings, revenue and margins.

Is HCLTech a good stock to buy?

There is no responsible yes-or-no answer from the disclosed figures alone. “Good” depends on the price paid, the investor’s time horizon, income needs, risk tolerance and expectations for growth and margins. The reported dividend and cash conversion may matter to an income-oriented investor, while the modest FY26 net-income change, differing segment trends and stated demand risks may matter more to a growth-oriented investor.

A disciplined decision should document assumptions before looking for a conclusion:

  • Which earnings period will be used: FY26 actuals, the latest trailing period or a forward estimate?
  • What constant-currency revenue and EBIT-margin growth is expected, and how sensitive is the valuation if guidance is missed?
  • How much of the expected return comes from dividends versus earnings growth and a future change in the valuation multiple?
  • How would delayed discretionary spending, currency movement or AI-related pricing pressure affect the estimate?
  • Is the investor comfortable with an individual-stock risk rather than a diversified portfolio exposure?

How to assess whether HCLTech shares are undervalued

A valuation conclusion needs a dated share price and a clearly stated earnings or cash-flow basis. The available exchange page did not expose usable numeric fields for an October 2026 market capitalization, price-to-earnings ratio, price-to-sales ratio or dividend yield. Do not infer a live multiple from an undated search result or from the FY26 dividend alone.

Step 1: Choose the earnings denominator

For a trailing P/E, divide the dated share price by the latest 12-month diluted EPS. For a forward P/E, use a stated estimate and record who produced it and when. FY26 diluted EPS was ₹64.01, while the Q2 FY27 page reports diluted EPS of ₹70.22; these figures have different reporting contexts and should not be combined without understanding the period and definition.

Step 2: Check operating quality behind the multiple

  • Compare rupee and constant-currency revenue growth.
  • Separate Services growth from HCLSoftware performance.
  • Track EBIT margin against the 17.5%–18.5% FY27 guidance range.
  • Review net-income and diluted-EPS growth rather than revenue alone.
  • Examine free-cash-flow conversion; HCLTech reported FCF at 107% of FY26 net income.
  • Consider whether the dividend payout leaves sufficient flexibility for investment and resilience.

Step 3: Use more than one valuation lens

P/E is sensitive to the chosen earnings period and to one-off items. Price-to-sales can ignore margin differences. Dividend yield can look attractive or unattractive solely because the share price moved, and a high payout can limit reinvestment if profits weaken. A cash-flow approach should use sustainable free cash flow rather than one year’s conversion ratio. These methods are cross-checks, not independent proof of fair value.

Step 4: Stress-test the assumptions

Build at least a base, weaker-demand and stronger-demand case. Vary constant-currency growth, EBIT margin, currency, payout and the valuation multiple. Ask what happens if discretionary projects remain delayed, if AI reduces pricing on existing services faster than new AI revenue grows, or if margins remain at FY26’s 17.2% instead of reaching the guidance range.

How to compare HCLTech with other IT-services shares

A fair comparison requires the same reporting period, accounting basis and market-date inputs for every company. Use the following checklist:

Comparison area What to standardize Why it matters
Growth Constant-currency company and segment growth Separates operating momentum from exchange-rate effects
Margins Operating margin and treatment of restructuring adjustments A reported margin may not be comparable if adjustments differ
Profit and cash Net income, diluted EPS and free-cash-flow conversion Tests whether revenue growth reaches shareholders as earnings and cash
Dividends Payout policy and yield calculated with the same-date price Avoids comparing a current price with an old dividend or different period
Valuation Same-date P/E, price-to-sales and other multiples using comparable earnings Prevents stale or mismatched denominators
Risk exposure Client spending, currency, geopolitics and AI-related disruption Business-model differences can justify different multiples

The available HCLTech materials do not establish that its shares are cheaper, more expensive or operationally superior to peers. That conclusion requires current, comparable peer data.

A practical checklist before buying or holding

  1. Record the exchange, date and closing price you will use.
  2. Choose trailing or forward EPS and write down the period.
  3. Calculate P/E and dividend yield using those dated inputs.
  4. Compare constant-currency growth, EBIT margin and free-cash-flow conversion with prior periods.
  5. Read the latest guidance and identify what would invalidate it.
  6. Review the cumulative FY31 payout policy without treating it as a guaranteed annual payment.
  7. Stress-test delayed client decisions, weaker discretionary spending, currency changes and AI pricing pressure.
  8. Decide the position size and exit or review conditions before placing an order.

HCLTech’s FY26 numbers provide a factual base for that work: ₹130,144 crore of revenue, ₹17,361 crore of net income, ₹64.01 diluted EPS, 17.2% EBIT margin, 107% free-cash-flow-to-net-income conversion and a ₹60 per-share dividend. The October 2026 update adds the latest company guidance and quarterly figures, but neither set of figures substitutes for a current, dated valuation calculation.
