The Hawksmoor High Pressure Washer 108bar (Toolstation code 44787, model YLQ4630H-110A) is a capable low-cost option for occasional car washing and smaller outdoor cleaning jobs. Expert Reviews found it cleaned better than its compact size suggested, but flagged budget-feeling construction, awkward assembly, limited spray control and substantial operating noise. It is more convincing as an occasional-use washer than as a machine for regular heavy-duty work.
What is the Hawksmoor 108bar, and what does it cost?
This review concerns the exact Toolstation model 44787, identified in its manual as YLQ4630H-110A—not other Hawksmoor washers. Toolstation’s listing showed a price of £59.99 including VAT and a two-year warranty when accessed on 4 October 2026. At that listed price, the value proposition is straightforward: a mains-powered washer with several accessories for occasional jobs, in exchange for less reassuring construction and usability than you might want from a machine used often. The hands-on review by Stuart Andrews at Expert Reviews, published 2 October 2026, supports that distinction.

The headline 108bar is the maximum allowable pressure, not the manual’s rated operating pressure. The retailer and the reproduced manual also express flow differently: one gives a maximum hourly figure, the other a rated litres-per-minute figure. Keep those definitions attached to the numbers rather than treating them as equivalent performance claims.

The mismatch between the retailer’s maximum flow and the manual’s rated flow is not a basis for assuming the washer will deliver its maximum figure in ordinary use. The specifications describe different measures; the available figures do not establish a like-for-like operating flow under a stated test condition.
What comes in the box?
Toolstation’s listing names a trigger gun, pressure hose, turbo lance, adjustable spray lance, extension lance, foam sprayer, filtered hose connector, trigger-gun holder, power-cord hook, nozzle-cleaning needle, accessories holder and handle. Check the live pack list before purchase, since retailer listings and supplied accessories can change.

How well does it clean?
In his hands-on use, Andrews tried the washer on a car and around the home and garden, including tarmac, paving, plastic and timber. He found the adjustable lance removed dried dirt and algae from paving as well as paint splodges. On a car, he used the foam sprayer to apply shampoo, then rinsed away dirt, mud, bird droppings and grime around the wheels. These are the reviewer’s results on his sample, not laboratory measurements.

He found the rotary jet less aggressive than he expected. However, he also described the adjustable spray as offering little nuance: changing the distance and spray width is the practical way to moderate its effect. He cautions that it may be too rough for softwood or crumbling tarmac, so use judgment on fragile surfaces rather than assuming the lance can be finely dialled down.

Where does the budget show?
- Construction and assembly: Andrews described the plastic as cheap-feeling and the assembly instructions as vague or short on detail. On his sample, the cable-hook mount was misaligned.
- Hose connection: He found the high-pressure hose thread rough enough that it required care when fitting.
- Moving and storage: The unit has no wheels, and its six-metre high-pressure hose and five-metre power cord set practical limits on reach.
- Noise: Andrews reported observed operating noise of 83–87dBA. That is his measurement while using the review sample, not a manufacturer-rated noise specification.
Who should buy it?
A reasonable fit
- You want a washer for occasional car cleaning, including applying shampoo through the included foam sprayer.
- Your outdoor jobs are relatively small, such as spot-cleaning paving or a modest patio or deck.
- You are willing to take care during assembly and hose fitting, and can tolerate a noisy machine without wheels.
Look for a larger machine if…
- You regularly clean substantial areas of hard landscaping or maintain several vehicles.
- You need more controlled spray adjustment for a range of delicate surfaces.
- You expect robust-feeling construction and smoother setup for frequent use.
Andrews’ own recommendation was to spend more on a Bosch Aquatak 110 for more frequent use. That is a judgment based on his comparison, not a claim that maximum pressure alone determines which washer cleans better.
