Have I Been Flocked lets you check whether your license plate appears in the Flock-system search audit logs the site has collected. A match means an operator queried the plate in records available to the site; it does not show that a Flock camera captured your car. A blank result is inconclusive because the records are incomplete and may be delayed.
How to check whether your plate appears in the records
- Open Have I Been Flocked.
- Enter the license plate in the lookup and submit it. The site describes the lookup as a way to search its collected Flock-system audit logs.
- Read the result as a match or no match in that collection—not as a complete history of camera detections or all searches in Flock’s system.
The lookup’s counts and records change as additional logs become available. On October 7, 2026, its homepage reported 4,686,527 plates across 243,098,172 known Flock searches. Those are the site’s collection totals on that date, not counts of every plate or search in Flock’s system.

What a match tells you—and what it does not
A match indicates that an operator using Flock’s system queried that plate in the audit-log records represented by the site. The operator is not necessarily a police officer. A match alone does not establish that a camera captured the vehicle, that the driver was stopped, or that the driver was under investigation.

Flock cameras and the lookup answer different questions. Cameras capture passing vehicles and index plate and vehicle details; the lookup reports operator searches found in collected audit logs. It does not show when or whether a vehicle passed a camera, or what a camera returned. The site estimates that Flock has 120,000 or more cameras and connected devices, but the estimate’s year is not specified and it is not an independently verified count.

Why a no-match result cannot prove your plate was never searched
No match means only that the site’s available records did not return one. Its collection is incomplete: few governments make these logs easy to access, and records may be redacted. Publication also depends on when logs arrive, and the site says delays can run for months or years. It describes the service as “not a real-time monitoring tool.”
Local transparency portals or public-records requests may provide access to additional records, depending on the jurisdiction, but they do not guarantee complete logs. Their coverage, release timing, redactions, and the distinction between operator searches and camera detections still matter.

Where the records come from and what the site says about privacy
Have I Been Flocked says its dataset consists of Flock-system audit logs released through open-records requests and, in some places, transparency portals. Its coverage therefore depends on which governments release records and what those records contain.

The site’s FAQ says it does not save, store, or log license plate numbers or search terms entered into the lookup. That is the site’s own privacy statement; its implementation has not been independently audited here. The site also says it is not affiliated with Flock Safety or a government agency. It identifies donations as its funding source and says it is fiscally sponsored by the Alternative Newsweekly Foundation, with donations designated for the project.
