Do not infer a delay from a countdown, social-media post or a friend’s local clock if it conflicts with the published time. The useful comparison is your current clock against 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 18. Write down the exact time you tested; that detail is useful if you later contact support.
Identify what is actually missing

Test more than one event surface before deciding that access failed. The gameplay-details tab, tome, Dark Trinket balance and Collection entries provide a stronger picture than one animation or notification. If all four are visible, the event is loaded even if a particular score label is different from older years.

BHVR’s 7.3.1 notes describe an event gameplay-details tab inside the game. Haunted by Daylight adds an event tome containing challenges and levels. Completing those objectives awards Dark Trinkets, which you spend in the Collection on event cosmetics and charms.
After the scheduled start and a successful client refresh, look for these separate elements:
- An event gameplay-details tab explaining the current event rules.
- An event tome with available challenges and level progression.
- Dark Trinkets shown as the event currency earned from tome activity.
- A Collection destination for the event cosmetics and charms purchased with Dark Trinkets.
If every one of these is absent, treat the problem as event loading or service access. If only one item is absent, use the narrower checks in the workflow rather than assuming the whole event failed. A missing cosmetic in the Collection, for example, is not the same symptom as being unable to open the tome at all.
Fix Haunted by Daylight in the correct order
1. Quit completely and relaunch from the platform library
Close Dead by Daylight, not merely its visible window. On PC, also confirm that the game process has exited before starting it again. Then open the library for the platform you use—Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft/Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo—and start the game from its current library entry.
BHVR’s network guidance specifically recommends a direct library launch instead of relying on an old desktop shortcut. A shortcut can point to an outdated executable or bypass a launcher update check. Starting from the library forces the platform to evaluate the installed build and launch path again.
On a console, use the system’s full close or quit command rather than leaving the game suspended in quick resume or rest mode. Then start it from the installed-games library. The purpose is a fresh connection and version check, not a change to your account or saved progression.

2. Install every pending game and platform update
Check for updates to Dead by Daylight and to the platform client or console system. On Windows, also install pending Windows updates and current graphics, audio and network drivers when they are offered through the normal manufacturer or Windows update channels.
Do not assume that an update downloaded in the background has been applied: many platforms require the game to close and restart before the new build is active. After updating, launch once more from the library and inspect the event tab and tome. If an update is queued, allow it to finish rather than launching an older executable while troubleshooting.
Keep the launcher signed in to the account that owns the game. A platform client that is offline, in an account switch, or waiting for an authentication step may start the game but fail to reach live event services.
3. Verify or repair the game files on PC
BHVR says file verification can occasionally remedy in-game issues. Use the path for your store:

Do not interrupt verification by launching the game from another shortcut. If the launcher reports that files were replaced or downloaded, perform one more full close and library launch before judging the result. On consoles, use the platform’s update and system-restart options; the store-specific PC paths above do not apply to console installations.

4. Check platform online services before changing network settings
If the game reports a disconnect, cannot reach its online services, or repeatedly returns you to the title screen, check the service-status page for your platform. BHVR’s Error 107 guidance identifies a network/router problem or a platform-service problem as possible causes after a disconnect and reconnect.
A platform outage can make an event appear missing even when the local files are correct. Wait for the service to recover before repeatedly reinstalling the game. If services are operating normally, continue with your own connection:
- Restart the modem and router, then wait for the connection to return fully.
- Use a wired connection for a test when possible; this separates wireless interference from game-service problems.
- Review the router’s NAT status. A strict or unavailable NAT can interfere with online matchmaking and service communication.
- Check that your firewall or security suite permits the game and its platform launcher to communicate.
- Flush DNS only when you are comfortable doing so and when ordinary router and connection checks have not helped; then restart the game.
These steps address the connection layer. They will not make the event appear before 2:00 p.m. ET or add a missing tome to an unpatched client. Avoid changing several router, firewall and DNS settings at once; testing one change at a time makes it possible to identify what helped and to undo an unnecessary change.

5. Use BHVR’s PC diagnostic sequence for persistent failures
When the event remains absent after the scheduled start, updates, file verification and network checks, follow the order in BHVR’s PC master guide rather than trying random fixes:

- Confirm that the PC meets the game’s minimum requirements.
- Test the internet connection and platform sign-in.
- Update or reinstall audio, video and other relevant device drivers.
- Confirm that DirectX and Windows are current.
- Verify the game files again after updates or driver changes.
- Perform a Windows clean boot.
- Reinstall the game only after the preceding checks fail.
A clean boot is a diagnostic, not a permanent gaming mode. It starts Windows with nonessential startup applications and services disabled. If Haunted by Daylight appears in that state, re-enable items in groups until the interfering background application or service is identified. Overlay tools, security software, hardware utilities and other launch-at-start programs are common categories to test, but do not disable protection permanently.
Reinstalling is the most time-consuming option and should be last. It consumes download bandwidth and does not solve a platform outage, an account-service problem or a clock-before-launch problem. If you do reinstall, use the same platform account and let the installation and all patches complete before testing the event.
Why a missing score popup does not necessarily mean missing event access
The 2026 event changes the way score feedback is displayed. BHVR’s official announcement says, “We’re removing unique Score Events for seasonal event hooks and gens.” During earlier events, hooking a Survivor or repairing a generator could show both the regular score event and an additional event-specific score event. In 2026, those actions show only the standard score events, regardless of the queue.
BHVR explains that characters interacting with core mechanics in different ways can affect how score events are tracked, including cases where an event-themed hook or generator would not register the expected seasonal popup. Event interactions are weighted more heavily instead. Therefore:
- Seeing normal hook or generator points is compatible with the 2026 event being active.
- Not seeing a special seasonal popup is not, by itself, proof that the event failed to load.
- Use the event tab, tome, Dark Trinket balance and Collection items as the stronger access checks.
This distinction matters when diagnosing a single missing visual or score notification. Do not reinstall the game solely because a seasonal score label is absent if the event tome and other event UI are available.
Choose the next step by the pattern of failure
It is before the scheduled start
Wait until October 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. ET. No local repair can unlock a time-gated event early. Recheck after that exact moment rather than repeatedly changing files.
It is after the start, but you have not relaunched
Exit fully and start from the platform library. Install pending updates before testing again. This is the quickest, lowest-risk reset.
The event is absent after a current launch on PC
Verify or repair the files for your store, restart, and then check platform status and the network path. Compare the result with another online feature to determine whether the issue is event-specific.

Every online feature is failing
Prioritize platform service status, router and NAT checks, firewall rules and the connection guide. File verification is unlikely to fix a platform outage.
Only one Windows PC is affected
Work through drivers, DirectX, Windows updates and the clean-boot test. If another platform on the same account shows the event, the evidence points to the PC rather than the event schedule.
The tome is present but a reward or challenge is not
Check the selected tome level and challenge state, allow the account to synchronize after a match, and restart once. Avoid treating the absence of a single reward entry as proof that the complete event is unavailable.
The event appears on one platform but not another
Use the working platform as a comparison. Confirm that the second platform is fully updated, signed into the intended account and able to use other online features. Cross-platform persistence points away from the calendar and toward that platform’s client, files or service connection.

The recommended remedies are software and connection checks: relaunching, updating, verifying files, reviewing services, testing the network and, if necessary, reinstalling. There is no hardware purchase required to make this digital event appear. A wired-connection test can use equipment you already have, but buying a controller, headset, storage device or merchandise is not an event-access fix.
Library launching, updating and file verification do not erase event progress or account ownership. Keep your platform account signed in, avoid deleting save or account data, and do not use unofficial files or modifications to force the event UI. Those actions can create new problems without addressing the scheduled-content or service layer.
When to contact support
Escalate after recording the useful facts: your platform and store, region and time zone, the exact local time you tested, the game version shown by the launcher, whether the event tab or tome appears, any error code, and which repair steps completed successfully. Screenshots of the missing UI and launcher status can help distinguish a display issue from a service or account problem.
For PC cases, mention whether verification found damaged files and whether a clean boot changed the result. For connection cases, include the platform service status and whether other online features work. This gives support a reproducible symptom instead of a general report that the event is missing.
