Jagex’s 25th-anniversary announcement discusses the existing franchise and plans for its anniversary year; its surfaced text likewise does not announce RuneScape 4.

This is a limited finding, not proof that no announcement exists anywhere. The available search was broad rather than exhaustive, and direct page access was unsuccessful. On this evidence, it is accurate to say no official reveal was found—not that Jagex has definitively never announced or discussed a new game.
Where the RuneScape 4 claim comes from
A creator video titled “Jagex is working on Runescape 4” was published by Protoxx on 2021-10-09. Its description discusses alleged leaked prototype footage and says the project may be called “Runescape Aftermath.” The title and description are creator commentary; they do not establish that Jagex confirmed RuneScape 4, that “Runescape Aftermath” is an official name, or that the footage represents a released game.

For a claim this specific, look for a direct statement from Jagex rather than relying on a video title, repost, or interpretation of alleged footage. Check the publisher’s official news index and relevant official game channels. A post about RuneScape updates or anniversary plans is not, by itself, confirmation of a separate RuneScape 4.
