Hindustan Times identified the officers as Akansha Tanwar, who oversees Gurugram North, and Mukul Kumar, who oversees Gurugram South. The reported suspension orders do not spell out individual allegations against either officer.
Why did Haryana suspend the two officers?
The Haryana government said the STP complaint was discussed at a review meeting on Gurugram development works chaired by Saini at the local PWD Rest House on October 2. The government presented the suspension direction as part of accountability for handling citizens’ grievances. It said Saini warned that negligence or incorrect reporting in grievance disposal would not be tolerated and that responsibility should be fixed before strict action against officials.

Hindustan Times also reported complaints from resident welfare associations (RWAs), but the available accounts do not establish that those broader complaints were the same as the specific complaint about the builder-operated STP.

What is not established about the allegations?
Hindustan Times reported that the orders do not specify individual allegations against Tanwar or Kumar or detail the complaints that led to the action. The state’s stated reason connects the decision to grievance handling and a citizen complaint about an STP; it is not, by itself, a finding that either officer personally committed a particular violation. No final disciplinary finding or later order was disclosed in the sources available as of October 3, 2026.

How the complaint and suspension were reported
- Haryana government release: Saini’s October 2 review, the STP complaint, and the stated warning about grievance handling.
- Hindustan Times: the officers’ names and jurisdictions, the reported order terms, and the absence of individual allegations in the orders.
- The Times of India also reported the STP complaint. It cited Gurugram’s September 2026 average AQI as 114.8, attributing the figure to pollution-control board data. That monthly city average is separate from the STP allegation and does not establish why the officers were suspended.
