Start with Story Mode before multiplayer
Halloween: The Game offers a single-player Story Mode as well as 1v4 multiplayer. Launch coverage describes Story Mode as six chapters and an extended tutorial, so it is a sensible first stop for learning the game’s setting and getting comfortable as Michael. That is the reviewer’s description—not a guarantee that Story Mode teaches every multiplayer system.

In multiplayer, one player is Michael Myers and the others play civilians. The official launch announcement lists ten playable civilian characters and four maps: Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates, and East Haddonfield. Those are launch specifications, not a guide to which character or map is strongest.
How to play Michael
Use stealth to set up encounters
Michael’s broad job is to hunt residents. Launch coverage emphasizes stalking and using shadows, so approach through darkness rather than turning every encounter into an open chase. A surprise approach can create an opportunity, but it is not an invulnerable tactic or a guaranteed way to catch someone.

Use perception to search
The launch review describes a perception ability that sharpens awareness of nearby potential victims. Use that information to help search, but do not assume a specific detection range, duration, cooldown, or guaranteed result; those details are not established by the launch coverage.
Keep the objective in view
Spend your attention on finding residents. Civilian resistance may disrupt an encounter, but chasing combat for its own sake can pull Michael away from the role’s central task. The available launch-era information does not establish a universally successful route, build, or ability sequence.

How to play as a civilian
Agree on an immediate plan
At the start, coordinate around practical goals: help residents, identify a safe route, and look for useful resources or transportation. The launch review describes rescue, escape, police contact, and finding resources and transport as civilian-side tasks. A shared plan gives teammates a basis for deciding what to do next instead of scattering without communicating.
Prioritize escape and police support
Work toward civilian objectives rather than treating Michael as an opponent you can defeat in a fight. The launch review says civilians can hurt or disrupt him but cannot kill him. Weapons and resistance are therefore ways to hinder him or survive an encounter, not a direct win condition.

Tell teammates when you spot Michael or learn that a route is dangerous, then adjust your plans together. This is practical coordination advice for an asymmetric team game, not a developer-confirmed mechanic or a promise that communication alone will secure an escape.
Choose perks without assuming a required build
The official launch page confirms a civilian Perk Card system, but the launch sources do not establish a best deck or a mandatory character, item, or perk. For a first match, focus on understanding the objective and working with your team rather than chasing an unverified “best build.”
