Choose games that fit your Halloween gathering
Before choosing, consider the players’ ages, group size, time available, room to move, and whether guests prefer active play or a seated game. For children, keep rules simple and make participation optional. For mixed ages, a guessing game or team activity can bring everyone in without requiring the same skill level.

- Little setup: Costume contests and candy-jar guesses need only paper, pens, or a jar of sweets.

Halloween party games for kids and families
Scavenger hunt
Hide wrapped sweets or spooky objects such as plastic spiders around the play area and give children a simple list of things to find. Set boundaries in advance, and keep small objects and treats appropriate for the children attending.
Pumpkin toss
Make a pumpkin-face target from a large pumpkin or a sturdy drawing, then mark a throwing line with tape. Players take turns tossing four mini pumpkins toward the face’s features. A bucket or other soft, easy-to-handle substitute can stand in for mini pumpkins if you want a simpler setup. Keep the throwing area clear and have players wait behind the line.

Find the bone
Place a large plastic bone in a box or treasure chest among toys and smaller bones. A blindfolded player has 20 seconds to find the large bone by touch. Use safe, clean objects with no sharp edges, and skip the blindfold if a player is uncomfortable.
Mummy wrapping race
Divide guests into teams of two: one person is the mummy and the other wraps them in toilet paper. Give each team the same amount of paper and three minutes. Keep the wrapping loose, avoid covering the face, and make sure everyone can opt out or take another role.

Costume Pictionary or costume contest
For costume Pictionary, write Halloween-related prompts on slips of paper and have players draw while their team guesses. For a simpler contest, guests can vote on lighthearted categories such as “spookiest” or “most inventive.” Paper and pens are enough; avoid categories that embarrass or single out a child.

Games for adults and mixed-age groups
Guess the sweets in the jar
Fill a jar with sweets or chocolate and ask each guest to write down a guess. Count the pieces beforehand; the closest guess wins. This works well for mixed ages because people can take part without moving around or knowing special rules.

Halloween puzzle or escape-room activity
Adults can build a home escape-room-style activity from Halloween puzzles, clues, and a clear sequence of tasks. Keep the challenge optional and offer hints so guests with different puzzle experience can participate. A paper-based clue trail can be easier to prepare than a room full of props.
Pumpkin carving

Make drinking games optional
Some Halloween party lists suggest beer pong, but a party does not need alcohol to use the format: guests can play with water or another nonalcoholic drink, or choose a different activity. Keep alcohol-free participation easy and pressure-free.

For a ready-to-use activity book rather than a conventional board game, LEGO’s US product page lists The LEGO Halloween Games as an 80-page hardcover with more than 50 games, puzzles, and activities, plus 40 Halloween-themed LEGO elements and a skeleton minifigure. Those are product specifications, not an independent assessment of how the activities play.
Make Halloween games more accessible
Food Allergy Canada’s 2017 handout includes an “Allergy-friendly witch” activity based on pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. Players place pictures representing an epinephrine auto-injector, its carrying case, and a MedicAlert bracelet on a witch poster. Treat it as playful reinforcement only—not a replacement for an individual allergy action plan or medical guidance. Keep participation respectful and optional, and do not ask children to disclose private health information.
For any activity, provide a role for guests who would rather not compete, move quickly, wear a blindfold, or handle a particular material. A clue reader, scorekeeper, or judge can join the fun without taking part in the physical challenge.
