The Hall of Murmurs is a small dungeon inside Castigator’s Keep in the Mammon region of Mortal Shell II. To reach it, clear the corruption blocking Marrow Keep’s second jump pad, ride that pad to the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, then follow the road through the keep and drop through an entrance near the Grisha Hunter camp.

Inside, the guide report describes an elevator, a compact canyon, brigands, a wooden shack, coin pouches, a praying NPC, and a Laterite stone by a fireplace. Striking the praying NPC reportedly transforms him into a Foul Knight; defeating that enemy gives Gloom. The dungeon’s rumored secret is not settled: several proposed triggers produced no result in the guide’s tests, but New Game Plus was not checked and the author allows that an item or interaction may have been missed.

Hall of Murmurs at a glance

Question Answer
Where is it? Inside Castigator’s Keep in Mammon.
What must be opened first? The corrupted route to Marrow Keep’s second jump pad, using enough Ova to cleanse it.
Where does the jump pad lead? The Outskirts of Mammon Beacon.
What marks the entrance? At Castigator’s Keep, use the stairs on the far-right side, turn left at the Grisha Hunter camp, and look for an opening in the floor.
What is inside? An elevator, a small canyon, brigands, a wooden shack, coin pouches, a praying NPC, and a Laterite stone by a fireplace, according to the guide report.
What happens if you hit the praying NPC? The guide says he becomes a Foul Knight. Defeating it yields Gloom.
Is a further secret confirmed? No. The reported experiments found no additional result, but they did not settle whether another interaction exists.

The location and encounter details above come from a secondary guide dated August 21, 2026. They should be read as reported observations rather than independently verified game behavior.

What you need before attempting the route

Open Marrow Keep’s second jump pad

The route does not begin at Castigator’s Keep. First reach Marrow Keep and deal with the corruption blocking its second jump pad. The guide describes cleansing that corruption with enough Ova, but it does not state a precise Ova quantity. Do not assume that a particular number is required from another area or version; the documented requirement is simply that the corruption must be cleared before the pad can be used.

If the pad remains unusable, the problem is usually route progress rather than the Hall of Murmurs itself. Return to Marrow Keep, confirm that the corruption has been cleansed, and interact with the second pad again. The Outskirts of Mammon Beacon is the destination you are looking for.

Use the beacon as your navigation reset

Once the jump pad takes you to the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon, activate or revisit the beacon before continuing. That gives you a clear landmark if you are interrupted and makes it easier to distinguish the correct road from nearby paths. The guide’s directions begin from this beacon and not from the central Mammon area.

How to reach the Hall of Murmurs

  1. Start at the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. This is the landing point reached through Marrow Keep’s second jump pad after the corruption is cleansed with Ova.
  2. Move toward the blasted gate. The gate is guarded by soldiers. If you are seeing the soldier-held gate, you are following the landmark sequence described by the guide.
  3. Cross the bridge. Continue beyond the gate and cross the bridge rather than turning toward a side route.
  4. Pass through the bone gate. The bone gate is the next major visual marker after the bridge.
  5. Follow the main road. Stay on the principal road until Castigator’s Keep comes into view. The guide does not identify a shortcut from the beacon to the keep.
  6. Reach the Castigator’s Keep beacon. Once you arrive, use the beacon to mark the location before searching for the dungeon entrance.
  7. Enter the inner gate. On a first visit, the guide also mentions a cliffside path as an alternative way into the keep. If the inner gate is not yet available to you, use that cliffside approach to enter.
  8. Take the stairs on the far-right side. After entering the keep, move to the stairs at the extreme right of the area.
  9. Turn left at the Grisha Hunter camp. The camp is the key internal landmark. Do not continue deeper along the upper route once you reach it.
  10. Look down for the floor entrance. The Hall of Murmurs entrance is in the floor near the camp. Drop through it to begin the dungeon section.

The route has two separate navigation problems: opening the Marrow Keep jump pad and then locating the floor entrance inside Castigator’s Keep. Solving only the first does not reveal the dungeon automatically; you still need to use the right-hand stairs and the Grisha Hunter camp as your internal markers.

What is inside the dungeon?

The elevator and canyon

The guide reports that the floor opening leads to an elevator. Riding it takes you to a small canyon rather than a large multi-room complex. This matters when searching: the Hall of Murmurs appears to be a compact encounter space, so a missed object is more likely to be around the canyon and shack than in a sprawling network of corridors.

Brigands and the wooden shack

Brigands occupy the canyon around a wooden shack. The reported layout places several points of interest close together: coin pouches, the praying NPC, and a Laterite stone beside a fireplace. Clear or bypass the brigands according to your preferred approach, then inspect the shack and fireplace area carefully before leaving.

Coin pouches and the Laterite stone

The coin pouches are ordinary visible loot according to the guide’s description. The Laterite stone is specifically noted as being by the fireplace. Because the guide’s author later says an item might have been missed, check the floor, the edges of the shack, and the area around the fireplace rather than assuming the listed objects are exhaustive.

The praying NPC and the Foul Knight encounter

What the guide reports

The praying NPC is the encounter that gives the Hall of Murmurs its suspicious reputation. According to the guide, striking the NPC ends the prayer scene and turns him into a Foul Knight. Defeating the Foul Knight then awards Gloom.

How to approach the interaction

If you want to inspect the scene before committing to combat, explore the canyon, shack, coin pouches, and fireplace first. The reported transformation is tied to hitting the NPC, so avoid attacking him until you have finished checking the nearby objects. A manual save or equivalent recovery point is sensible before experimenting, particularly if you are testing whether a non-violent interaction exists.

What is not established

The Foul Knight transformation and Gloom reward are the guide’s stated observations. They do not prove that the NPC has a second trigger, that the reward changes under another condition, or that every edition and playthrough behaves identically. The encounter should therefore be separated from the larger secret question: the NPC event is reported, while any additional hidden consequence remains unconfirmed.

Is there a secret in the Hall of Murmurs?

No additional secret has been confirmed, but the available report does not justify saying that the dungeon is definitively secret-free. The guide describes several experiments that produced no result:

Test reported by the guide Reported outcome
Summoning Grishas with the Grisha Remnant No result reported.
Using the Sheephead Totem No result reported.
Using the Cursed Child’s scream No result reported.
Activating Night Mode No result reported.
Following a blood trail No result reported.
Leading brigands into the shack No result reported.

Why the answer remains open

The guide’s author had not checked New Game Plus and acknowledged that an item could have been overlooked. A failed test is evidence that a particular attempt did not produce an observable result; it is not proof that the game contains no hidden condition. The report also comes from a search-result excerpt rather than a directly fetched, independently reproduced page.

A disciplined way to test the room yourself

  1. Record the starting state. Note whether the brigands are alive, whether the NPC is still praying, and which loot has been collected.
  2. Change one variable at a time. For example, test the Grisha Remnant in an otherwise unchanged room, reload, and then test the Sheephead Totem separately.
  3. Inspect the fireplace and shack after each change. The Laterite stone and the reported missing-item possibility make those areas worth rechecking.
  4. Test the NPC last if you want the undisturbed scene preserved. Hitting him is reported to trigger the Foul Knight, so it changes the encounter state.
  5. Repeat in New Game Plus if available. The guide did not test NG+, making it the clearest documented gap.

This method can help establish what happens in your own save, but it still should not be generalized into a universal rule without broader confirmation.

Troubleshooting the route and encounter

The second jump pad will not activate

Check Marrow Keep first. The documented route requires the corruption on the second jump pad to be cleansed with Ova. If that step is incomplete, the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon will not be reachable through the described route.

You reached Mammon but cannot find the keep

Return to the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon and retrace the landmark chain: blasted gate with soldiers, bridge, bone gate, then the main road. The guide does not place the Hall of Murmurs in the open Mammon outskirts; it places it inside Castigator’s Keep.

You are inside the keep but cannot see the entrance

Go to the stairs on the far-right side, then turn left at the Grisha Hunter camp. The entrance is in the floor. On a first visit, use the keep’s cliffside path if the inner gate is not yet accessible.

The praying NPC does not become a Foul Knight

The transformation is a reported guide observation, not a guaranteed result established for every state. Confirm that you are interacting with the same praying NPC near the shack and that you are striking the character rather than another object or enemy. If the result still differs, record the area state, difficulty or mode, and whether the encounter is in a repeat or New Game Plus run before treating it as a contradiction.

You expected a secret but found only the listed encounter

That outcome matches the guide’s reported tests. Collect the visible loot, inspect the fireplace and shack, and avoid assuming that the absence of a reaction proves the dungeon has no undiscovered trigger.

Why players consider it the “most suspicious” dungeon

The suspicion comes from the concentration of unusual clues in a very small space: a praying NPC who can become a Foul Knight, a Laterite stone placed by a fireplace, brigands gathered around a shack, and the possibility of a blood trail or other environmental interaction. These details naturally invite experiments with summons, abilities, time or display modes, and enemy positioning.

Those clues explain the dungeon’s reputation, but they are not proof of a secret. The only documented result from the NPC is the Foul Knight encounter and its Gloom reward. The other proposed interactions listed by the guide did not produce a reported outcome, while NG+ and the possibility of a missed item remain unresolved.

Mortal Shell II context and platforms

Steam identifies Mortal Shell II as a standalone sequel action RPG by Cold Symmetry, published by Playstack, with a release date of August 20, 2026. The Steam description calls it a “standalone sequel action-RPG with adrenaline-charged, high-stakes combat.” Cold Symmetry’s official announcement states: “Mortal Shell II releases worldwide in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.”

Those platform statements establish the game’s broad platform scope, not a special Hall of Murmurs version or platform-exclusive interaction. Retail edition, physical-format, and stock details are separate questions and are not needed to navigate this dungeon.

Hall of Murmurs checklist

  • Cleanse the corruption on Marrow Keep’s second jump pad with enough Ova.
  • Use the pad to reach the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon.
  • Find the blasted gate guarded by soldiers.
  • Cross the bridge and pass through the bone gate.
  • Follow the main road to Castigator’s Keep.
  • Enter through the inner gate, or use the cliffside path on a first visit if necessary.
  • At the keep, take the far-right stairs.
  • Turn left at the Grisha Hunter camp.
  • Drop through the entrance in the floor.
  • Search the canyon and shack for coin pouches and the Laterite stone by the fireplace.
  • Decide whether to strike the praying NPC; the guide reports a Foul Knight and Gloom afterward.
  • Treat the larger secret as unresolved, especially if you have not tested New Game Plus.

Bottom line

The Hall of Murmurs is a compact Castigator’s Keep dungeon reached from the Outskirts of Mammon Beacon. Its documented set piece is the praying NPC who reportedly becomes a Foul Knight when struck, with Gloom as the reward. The guide found no further secret through several tests, but because New Game Plus was not checked and a missed item remains possible, the accurate answer is “no confirmed secret,” not “definitely no secret.”
