Forza-Style Handling Overhaul pursues a different target: quicker acceleration, higher speed, stronger stability, more grip and smoother cornering across 54 vehicles. It may feel more controlled and enjoyable without being more physically accurate. “Realistic” describes different driving targets
Comparing these files by a single realism score is misleading. In a driving mod, realism can mean physically plausible tire behavior, believable weight transfer, predictable loss of grip, authentic acceleration, or simply less of the game’s stock sliding. Forza-Style’s control-first definition
Forza-Style Handling Overhaul is tuned for a balance of speed, control, realism and fun. Its listed changes are faster acceleration, higher top speed, better high-speed stability, increased grip, smoother cornering and less random sliding. Those changes can make a car easier to place on the road and more consistent at speed. They do not, by themselves, establish real-world accuracy.

RDV’s defining claim is that grip and traction respond to the surface rather than using one generic road feel. RDV 2.5 lists full support for GTA V versions 1.36, 1.38, 1.39, 1.41 and 1.43, and says it is upward compatible through 1.50. The same page notes that it does not affect the latest downloadable-content vehicles. These are historical claims from the mod page, not a promise for every current installation. Recent user comments describe both crashes on newer builds and successful use, so treat compatibility as an unresolved risk.

Why “Forza-style” does not mean “realistic”
More grip and stability can be useful, but a car that accelerates faster, corners more smoothly and slides less is not automatically closer to a road car. The overhaul’s description presents realism as one goal among speed, control and fun. That combination points to an accessible, game-like handling target rather than a measured simulation of actual vehicles.
Legacy-only support
The author explicitly supports GTA V Legacy and says the overhaul is not made for GTA V Enhanced. Installing it on Enhanced is therefore a compatibility mismatch, not an experiment this comparison can recommend.

Check compatibility before you compare feel
- Identify your edition. Confirm whether your installation is GTA V Legacy or GTA V Enhanced. Forza-Style is described as Legacy-only.

Installing Forza-Style permanently
The permanent route edits GTA V files through OpenIV. The author warns that some vehicles have handling entries in more than one location; changing only one entry can crash the game. Follow the package’s file list exactly, preserve backups, and do not assume that a similarly named handling line is the only copy the game reads.
Installing RDV
RDV’s available description does not establish a current universal path. Use its present installation notes, match the supported build, and test first with vanilla vehicles. - Confirm that a Legacy-only file was not placed in an Enhanced installation.
- For RDV, compare your build with the page’s 1.36–1.50 support claims rather than assuming upward compatibility still holds.
Do not confuse RDV with True Realistic Driving V
A separate file named True Realistic Driving V is listed as version 5.5 with a 2020 file date. User comments in 2026 report ScriptHook failures after game updates. That file is not evidence that RDV 2.5 works on a current build, and its version number should not be substituted for RDV’s. Verify the exact mod name, version and dependency requirements before installation.
Choose by the behavior you actually want
Choose RDV when realism means physics and variety
- You want surface-dependent grip, traction and slip-angle behavior.
- Off-road vehicles and motorcycles matter to you.
- You mainly drive vanilla cars and can verify that your build is compatible.
- You accept that custom vehicles, heavy trucks, aircraft and boats are outside its stated strengths.
Choose Forza-Style when realism means control
- You want faster acceleration and higher top speed.
- You prefer stable, grippy cornering with less random sliding.
- You play GTA V Legacy and your priority is a limited, explicitly tuned 54-vehicle roster.
- You are comfortable testing temporarily before making OpenIV edits.
Skip both until the edition is resolved
If you run GTA V Enhanced, Forza-Style is explicitly excluded. If your current build is newer than RDV’s documented range and you cannot test safely, compatibility uncertainty outweighs the theoretical handling difference. A mod that cannot load reliably cannot deliver a realistic driving experience.
How to make a fair feel comparison
No controlled head-to-head test establishes that either overhaul matches real vehicle behavior. You can still make your own comparison less subjective by holding the conditions constant:
- Use the same vanilla vehicle in both setups, not a custom car that may have an incompatible mass center or wheelbase.
- Repeat the same route in dry conditions, then repeat it on the same off-road surface if you are evaluating RDV’s surface claims.
- Compare corner entry, throttle response, braking stability, recovery from a slide and behavior at highway speed separately.
- Keep traffic, weather, camera view and controller settings unchanged.
- Record observations by trait instead of asking which mod “feels real” overall. A setup can be more stable at speed while being less convincing during a traction break.
Community praise and complaints are useful for finding installation problems, but they cannot replace this kind of controlled observation or prove real-world accuracy.

RDV is the best-supported answer to “which overhaul is designed around realism?” Its stated scope reaches physics, surfaces, tires, slip angles, off-road driving, motorcycles and vehicle-specific tuning. That makes it the stronger realism-oriented design, not an objectively proven simulation. Forza-Style is the better match for a faster, more stable and less slippery game feel, provided you use GTA V Legacy and stay within its 54-vehicle scope. Before choosing on handling alone, verify the edition and build: current compatibility is the decisive practical uncertainty.
