Slasher is a competitive, adversarial mode built around human opponents, so it depends on finding a suitable lobby. Check the selected job’s rules and current availability in-game: not every Survival has the same solo settings, and older event dates do not confirm what is playable now.
How Slasher and Survival differ

Pick Survival for solo PvE
Choose Survival if your priority is taking on enemy waves without relying on human opponents. It offers the more natural starting point for independent play, though the selected job—not the category name alone—determines whether its rules suit a solo run.

Pick Slasher for competitive PvP
Choose Slasher if you want an asymmetric match against other players and are willing to wait for a lobby. Rockstar categorizes it among Adversary activities; a secondary description outlines Slasher and Hunted roles, but that does not establish that every variation uses the same team sizes or queue behavior. Specific versions can be time-limited. Rockstar’s Title Update 1.71 notes list Cayo Perico Survival for August 28 through September 10, 2025, and a Ramius submarine Slasher variation for October 16 through November 6, 2025. Those are historical windows, not a calendar for October 2026. Check the in-game Featured Series and jobs menu for current availability.

The same notes document the removal of the Survival rank requirement, a fix concerning access to owned weapons in Cayo Perico Survival, ammunition restocking when returning to Freemode, and a Survival Creator option for wave preparation time. There is no current, comparable payout figure here that establishes Slasher or Survival as the better earner. Rockstar said in 2022 that payouts for all then-available Adversary Modes would be boosted by an average of 50%; that was a historical statement about Adversary Modes, not a current Slasher rate and not evidence about Survival rewards. If earnings matter to your choice, check the active weekly bonus and the individual job before committing. A past Adversary Mode bonus cannot establish today’s payout or settle a comparison with Survival.
