A huge Grand Theft Auto VI advertisement on the Les Mercuriales towers in Bagnolet, near Paris, does not exactly match the game’s familiar cover illustration. The outdoor version appears to remove Lucia’s pistol and an assault rifle shown in another panel, while keeping the rest of the pink-and-white composition with Lucia and Jason.
What is different about the Paris billboard?
Photos of the installation show the recognizable GTA VI cover-art arrangement wrapped around the two Les Mercuriales towers. Compared with the standard illustration, two firearms are absent: Lucia’s handgun and a separate assault rifle. The characters, color treatment and overall layout remain in place, making the change look like a targeted adaptation rather than a wholly different creative.

Joking Joystick and Creative Bloq both describe the same discrepancy. This is a comparison between released artwork and one physical advertising execution; it is not evidence that weapons were removed from the game or from every version of the key art.

Was the GTA 6 cover censored?
There is no published official explanation from Rockstar Games, the building owner, the advertising partner or a local regulator in the reports describing the billboard. It is therefore inaccurate to state as fact that Rockstar censored its cover.
#1 Best Overall
Venue standards, an advertising policy or local rules could be possible explanations, but those are hypotheses, not confirmed reasons. The available evidence establishes only the visible alteration and the absence of a public explanation. Until one of the responsible parties comments, the order behind the change cannot be attributed reliably.
Where is the billboard?
The advert is installed on the Les Mercuriales towers in Bagnolet, in the Paris metropolitan area. Its scale and elevated position make small differences from the source illustration visible from a distance, while also requiring the artwork to be adapted to a large, curved building surface.

The Paris banner is part of a much larger campaign
The altered artwork is one element of a wider promotion for GTA VI. In Miami, a separate “Welcome to Vice City” installation is planned for the Kaseya Center. GamesRadar reports that Miami-Dade County will collect $975,000 from that sign under the county arrangement described for the venue.

- The sign covers 4,690 square feet.
- It adds 21,000 pounds of new structural steel.
- Major sections have listed helicopter-lift loads of approximately 4,200 pounds and 4,950 pounds.
- The artwork may remain the roof sign’s featured copy for up to two years.
- The design combines “WELCOME TO,” pink-and-white “Vice City” lettering and the VI logo.
- The installation uses static illumination rather than a changing or animated display.
Those figures describe the Kaseya Center project and its Miami-Dade arrangement. They are not totals for Rockstar’s entire advertising campaign and should not be used to estimate the Paris installation.

Artwork fidelity versus site requirements
Large-format advertising has to fit a specific structure, viewing angle and local approval process. A designer may alter an image to accommodate seams, corners, sightlines or a venue’s standards. None of those practical possibilities identifies who requested the missing weapons in Bagnolet, but they explain why a building wrap should not automatically be treated as a one-to-one reproduction of a game asset.
Weapons are the only confirmed alteration
The reports identify the two missing firearms. They do not document additional changes to characters, logos, colors or the game’s content. Claims that the campaign represents a broader edit should therefore be treated cautiously.
Outdoor promotion is not a content update
Nothing in the reported Paris discrepancy indicates that GTA VI itself has been changed. It concerns how promotional art was displayed in one city. The game’s weapons, rating and story content cannot be inferred from this billboard.
What to watch for next
A definitive answer would require a statement from Rockstar, the Les Mercuriales property or the advertising partners involved. Until then, the most supportable description is straightforward: the Bagnolet wrap reproduces the GTA VI cover concept but omits two guns, and no responsible party has publicly explained why. The Miami project shows how ambitious the same campaign is elsewhere, with a physically engineered roof sign rather than a simple printed poster.
