What are Leonida and Vice City?
Leonida is Rockstar’s fictional state, and Vice City is its central city. Rockstar describes GTA 6 as a return to modern-day Vice City, while its official character and location page places the wider story in Leonida. Treat the real places as references and orientation points: Rockstar has not presented Leonida as a literal copy of Florida or published a map that matches every fictional location to a real one.

The official page names six destinations: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The names suggest a varied state, rather than a game map confined to an urban Miami analogue. Rockstar’s Leonida page also gives the setting a story context: Jason Duval has worked in the Keys for local drug runners, while Lucia Caminos has been released from Leonida Penitentiary. The official synopsis says an easy score goes wrong and draws the pair into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida.
Which real South Florida places appear to have inspired the setting?
Rockstar’s official descriptions establish the fictional place names, but they do not label specific real-world counterparts. In its analysis of the first trailer, Axios Miami identified apparent visual echoes of South Beach’s Art Deco hotels and Ocean Drive, the Venetian and MacArthur causeways, Brickell, Wynwood, the Everglades and the Florida Keys. These are interpretations of trailer imagery, not an official Rockstar map legend.

Daniel Ciraldo, executive director of the Miami Design Preservation League, told Axios: “I must say the depictions are pretty exciting, it looks like they took the best of South Florida from the Everglades to South Beach and everything in between.” He also said: “The architecture looks very realistic, though some buildings are out of order or on the wrong block!” Those are Ciraldo’s assessments of the trailer, not claims by Rockstar that locations are reproduced exactly.
What has Rockstar said about the regions and wildlife?
A 2026 TechRadar report on a Game Informer cover story attributes additional world details to Rockstar staff. It reports six primary regions—Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park—and describes the game world as twice the size of GTA V’s. That size comparison is reported from the cover story, not an independently checked map measurement.

The same report attributes figures of 170 animal species, more than 60 bird types and more than 30 land mammals to Rockstar staff. It also reports over 600,000 NPC animations. These figures are secondary reporting of the Game Informer cover story, rather than numbers independently verified here.

When does GTA 6 come out, and what editions are listed?
As of October 7, 2026, the Rockstar Store listing gives November 19, 2026 as the release date and displays a $79.99 preorder price. Price and availability can change, so check the listing for the platform and region you intend to buy. Rockstar’s edition comparison presents the Standard Edition in digital or code-in-box formats and the Ultimate Edition digitally.

The physical format matters if you expect a disc you can lend, resell or keep as an offline copy: the boxed Standard Edition is code-in-box. Rockstar Support says a Standard Edition owner can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade digitally through PlayStation or Microsoft after redeeming the Standard code.

Rockstar Support also warns that, in many markets, the code’s region must match the platform account’s region. It recommends buying from a retailer in the country associated with the account to avoid activation problems. Check the platform and regional conditions attached to a specific listing; do not assume a boxed code is universally transferable.
What does the GTA 6 preorder include?
Rockstar’s current preorder materials describe the Vintage Vice City Pack, with a ’55 Vapid Stanier Sedan and Garage, outfits and hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern. The official support terms say digital preorders and purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the pack and a free month of GTA+. Physical preorders have a separately stated inclusion. Are the Vice City collectibles included with the game?
No. Rockstar is promoting The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a limited-edition collectible set inspired by Leonida’s in-game TV show Macca the Gator. It is a separate product, not a game edition, and the official GTA VI page is the place to check its current announcement and availability. Stock and product details may change.
