GTA 6’s GTA 4 Features: Five Fan Favorites, None Officially Confirmed as Returning

No GTA IV feature has been officially confirmed as returning in Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar and Take-Two have confirmed GTA VI’s release details and several new or returning-style activities, but neither company has published a five-item list of GTA IV mechanics coming back. The five systems below are commonly expected by fans, not announced features.

What is officially confirmed about GTA VI

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two’s 2026 announcement lists a price of $79.99, while Rockstar’s official store also lists the November 19 release date. Rockstar has released official trailers and announcement material, but those materials do not identify five GTA IV features that are returning.

A September 2026 Game Informer interview, as reported at the time, officially confirmed GTA VI activities including kayaking, zoo visits, street racing, off-road racing, wrestling, pool, mini-golf and gyms. That confirms activities in GTA VI; it does not establish that they are ports of GTA IV systems or that every activity will work exactly as shown in promotional material.

Five GTA IV features fans expect—but Rockstar has not confirmed

These are the five features most often cited when players ask what GTA VI might bring back from GTA IV. The current evidence status is the important part of each entry.

GTA IV feature GTA VI status as of October 16, 2026
Phone and internet systems Not officially confirmed as returning
Dating and relationship activities Not officially confirmed as returning
Bowling and similar leisure activities Not officially confirmed as returning
Taxis and passenger travel Not officially confirmed as returning
Restaurants and food interactions Not officially confirmed as returning

Phone and internet systems

GTA IV made the protagonist’s phone a major interface for contacts, messages, missions and social plans, while its in-game internet added websites and world-building. GTA VI trailers may show phones, screens or interfaces, but an on-screen device does not prove that GTA IV’s phone or internet structure is returning. Rockstar has not published a feature list describing those systems.

Dating and relationship activities

Dating is frequently mentioned because GTA IV tied social relationships to calls, invitations and activities around Liberty City. There is currently no Rockstar or Take-Two statement confirming a dating system in GTA VI. A character interaction in a trailer or screenshot cannot establish the complete relationship mechanics, progression or optional activities that players remember from GTA IV.

Bowling and other leisure games

Bowling became one of GTA IV’s best-known side activities, alongside other diversions that made the city feel usable outside missions. GTA VI’s confirmed activity list includes pool, mini-golf and gyms, but it does not include an official statement that bowling returns from GTA IV. Pool appearing in GTA VI should therefore be described as a confirmed GTA VI activity, not automatically as a confirmed GTA IV feature return.

Taxis and passenger travel

Taxis in GTA IV offered a recognizable way to move through the city and, depending on the situation, skip portions of a journey. GTA VI footage may depict cars and travel, but no official source currently specifies a GTA IV-style taxi system, its availability, fares, destination selection or mission behavior. Those details remain unannounced.

Restaurants and food interactions

Restaurants and eating have also been suggested by fans as natural candidates for a return because they connect open-world exploration with character routines. Rockstar has not confirmed restaurants, food purchases or health-related food mechanics as GTA IV carryovers. Treating a building, counter or meal scene in promotional footage as proof would go beyond what has been announced.

Confirmed activities are not the same as returning GTA IV mechanics

The distinction matters because a shared activity name does not prove a shared system. Pool is listed among the activities confirmed for GTA VI, for example, but that does not establish that its rules, locations, animations, rewards or social functions match GTA IV. The same caution applies to gyms, racing, wrestling, kayaking, zoo visits and mini-golf.

  • Direct confirmation: Rockstar or Take-Two explicitly names the feature or describes its implementation.
  • Promotional appearance: A trailer or screenshot shows an object, activity or interface, but not necessarily the final gameplay system.
  • Inference: Fans connect a GTA VI scene to a GTA IV mechanic because the concepts look similar.

Only the first category supports the wording “officially returning from GTA IV.” The available material supports saying that certain GTA VI activities are confirmed; it does not support assigning them a GTA IV origin.

How to read future announcements

If Rockstar later confirms several GTA IV features, compare them on four points: whether the statement is direct or inferred, whether the feature is a story system, side activity or world interaction, where it was shown, and whether it is confirmed for launch or merely discussed as planned content. This prevents a trailer detail from being mistaken for a complete gameplay promise.

Release context

GTA VI is currently scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announced price is $79.99 from Take-Two’s 2026 announcement. Edition availability, retailer stock and other purchase terms can change and require a live retailer check; they do not establish whether any GTA IV feature returns.
