There are no official GTA 6 PC system requirements yet. Rockstar has confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a console launch announced for November 19, 2026. Rockstar has not announced a PC edition, PC release date, minimum specifications, recommended specifications, or graphics-settings targets.
A TechRadar report, citing four anonymous GamesBeat industry sources, says a PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027. That is an unverified report rather than a Rockstar announcement, so it should not be treated as a date promise or as a reason to purchase a specific graphics card today.

What is officially known about GTA 6 on PC?
Rockstar’s published platform information says Grand Theft Auto VI can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Those are the only launch platforms Rockstar has officially listed. The announcement does not include Windows, Steam, the Epic Games Store, a Rockstar Games Launcher PC build, or any PC hardware table.

Confirmed information versus reporting
| Question | What the available evidence establishes |
|---|---|
| Will GTA 6 come to PC? | Rockstar has not announced a PC edition. A PC version is reported by TechRadar, citing four anonymous GamesBeat sources, but the report is unverified. |
| When is the confirmed release? | November 19, 2026, for the announced console launch. |
| Which platforms are confirmed? | PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. |
| What are the PC minimum requirements? | Not published. |
| What are the PC recommended requirements? | Not published. |
| Is a first-quarter 2027 PC launch confirmed? | No. It is an anonymous-source report, not a Rockstar date. |
Rockstar could still announce a PC edition after the console release, as publishers sometimes ship a technically different PC build later. Until Rockstar provides a store page, release announcement, or support document for PC, the platform remains unconfirmed.
Why an exact PC parts list cannot be calculated from the consoles
The PlayStation 5 is useful context because it shows the hardware class Rockstar is targeting, but its components cannot be converted directly into a Windows minimum requirement. Consoles have a fixed design: developers know the exact CPU, graphics processor, memory pool, storage hardware, operating system, and performance target in every unit. PC games must support many combinations of processors, graphics cards, drivers, memory configurations, storage devices, resolutions, and frame-rate goals.
A PC port might expose settings that do not exist on console, such as separate texture, crowd, shadow, reflection, foliage, distance-scaling, and ray-tracing controls. It may also offer 1080p, 1440p, ultrawide, or 4K output, along with several frame-rate targets and different upscaling modes. Each combination changes the hardware needed for an acceptable result.

Memory allocation is another barrier to one-to-one conversion. A console’s unified memory is reserved and managed for a known game environment. A PC’s system RAM is shared with Windows and other software, while a graphics card has its own VRAM. The same nominal memory total can therefore behave differently between platforms.
What the PlayStation 5 specification tells us
Sony’s published PlayStation 5 technical material identifies an x86-64 AMD Zen 2 CPU with eight cores and 16 threads, a 10-teraflops AMD RDNA-based graphics engine, 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, hardware ray tracing, and an ultra-high-speed SSD. These are console-target figures, not GTA 6 PC requirements.
| PlayStation 5 component | Published specification | How to interpret it for a future PC version |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | x86-64 AMD Zen 2, 8 cores/16 threads | Indicates a modern multi-core console CPU target, but does not identify a matching PC processor or minimum clock speed. |
| Graphics | 10-TFLOPS AMD RDNA-based graphics engine | Teraflops are not a universal cross-generation performance score. They do not identify an equivalent PC graphics card. |
| Memory | 16 GB GDDR6 | Console memory is shared and managed differently from a PC’s system RAM plus graphics-card VRAM. |
| Ray tracing | Hardware ray tracing supported | Shows that ray-tracing features are possible on the target console; it does not prove a PC requirement or a required ray-tracing mode. |
| Storage | Ultra-high-speed SSD | Suggests fast storage is part of the target platform, but Rockstar has not stated GTA 6’s PC install size or SSD requirement. |
The most defensible conclusion is qualitative: a future PC build is likely to be designed around contemporary multi-core processors, a modern discrete GPU, substantial memory, and fast storage. The exact class, capacity, settings, and price cannot be established from the PS5 specification alone.
Why GTA V requirements are not GTA 6 requirements
Rockstar’s official legacy PC requirements for Grand Theft Auto V are historical context only. They list Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 or AMD Phenom 9850-class processor, 4 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT with 1 GB of graphics memory, and 125 GB of storage.

Those figures describe an older game and an older PC baseline. GTA V’s list cannot be used as a GTA 6 minimum, recommended specification, storage estimate, or indication that an older graphics card will run the new game. The two games target different console generations, rendering features, world detail, streaming technology, and release-era hardware.
It is reasonable to use GTA V only to explain why a comparison is misleading: a specification written for that game’s original PC release predates the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S generation. It does not predict what Rockstar will require from a later PC port.
What hardware should you buy or upgrade today?
If your goal is confirmed launch access, buying a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S is the only route Rockstar has announced. A PlayStation 5 is a defensible choice when you want a physical, readily searchable console product and the platform on which the November 19, 2026 launch is confirmed. Xbox Series X|S is the other confirmed route.
Buying a PC upgrade specifically for GTA 6 is different. Without a PC announcement or requirements table, no graphics card, processor, RAM kit, motherboard, power supply, or SSD can be called a GTA 6-proof purchase. A part may be sensible for your existing games or work, but its GTA 6 performance is unknown.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhen a PC upgrade can still make sense
- Upgrade for a current game or application whose requirements and performance are documented.
- Replace an unreliable component, add storage, or improve an existing bottleneck independently of GTA 6.
- Choose a balanced system rather than spending the entire budget on a graphics card while leaving an old processor or insufficient memory.
- Wait for Rockstar’s PC announcement if GTA 6 is the main reason for the purchase and you can use your current system in the meantime.
What to avoid
- Do not buy a GPU because a seller labels it “GTA 6 ready.” That label is not an official requirement.
- Do not treat a rumored first-quarter 2027 window as a guaranteed launch date.
- Do not infer performance from teraflops alone or from a console’s memory total.
- Do not assume an old GTA V-compatible PC will meet GTA 6 requirements.
How to evaluate your PC when requirements are published
When Rockstar provides official specifications, compare your system against more than the processor and graphics-card names. The following checklist will reveal whether a proposed build targets minimum playability or a specific visual experience.
- Separate minimum from recommended. Minimum usually describes the lowest supported configuration, while recommended normally targets a more consistent image and frame rate. Check the stated resolution and preset for each tier.
- Record the target resolution. A requirement for 1080p is not equivalent to one for 1440p or 4K. Higher pixel counts increase graphics workload and memory use.
- Check the frame-rate target. A 30-frame-per-second target and a 60-frame-per-second target can require materially different hardware even at the same resolution.
- Identify ray-tracing modes. Determine whether ray tracing is optional, required for a named preset, or tied to a separate performance target.
- Check VRAM and system RAM separately. A graphics card can have enough compute performance but run out of VRAM at high textures; Windows and the game also need system memory.
- Confirm storage type and free space. Note the required capacity, whether an SSD is mandatory, and how much additional space updates may need.
- Verify the operating system and launcher. Look for the required Windows edition, 64-bit status, driver branch, account, and launcher requirements.
- Look for upscaling requirements. If a specification assumes an upscaling technology, determine whether it is optional, required for a preset, or available on your hardware.
How to compare a rumored PC build without fooling yourself
Before official numbers appear, online recommendations often mix a predicted minimum with a preferred enthusiast configuration. Treat such lists as shopping opinions, not compatibility tests. A credible comparison should state the assumed resolution, frame rate, ray-tracing setting, upscaling mode, VRAM, system RAM, storage, operating system, and whether the result is measured or merely estimated.
It should also distinguish a component’s age from its actual performance. A newer mid-range graphics card may outperform an older high-end model in some workloads, while driver support and VRAM capacity can change the result. CPU requirements can vary with crowd density, simulation complexity, background streaming, and frame-rate targets, so a processor recommendation without those conditions is incomplete.

Likely PC-port questions, answered carefully
Will the PC version launch on the same day as consoles?
There is no confirmed PC version or PC date, so a simultaneous launch cannot be assumed. The announced November 19, 2026 date applies to the confirmed console platforms.
Is the reported Q1 2027 window reliable?
TechRadar reported that GamesBeat heard the window from four anonymous industry sources. That makes it a report worth watching, not an official commitment. Rockstar could change plans, timing, platforms, or technical scope.
Does a PS5-equivalent PC exist?
There is no single equivalent. PC performance depends on the complete CPU, GPU, VRAM, system RAM, storage, drivers, operating system, settings, and output target. The PS5 figures describe a fixed console design, not a parts-shopping formula.
Should I wait before buying a gaming PC?
If GTA 6 is the primary reason for the purchase, waiting for Rockstar’s PC announcement and requirements is the lowest-risk choice. If you need a PC now for other games or work, choose hardware for those documented needs and treat GTA 6 compatibility as unknown.

A useful Rockstar specification should list at least minimum and recommended CPU and GPU models, RAM, VRAM where relevant, operating-system version, storage capacity, storage type, launcher or account requirements, and supported features. It should tie each tier to a resolution, frame-rate target, graphics preset, ray-tracing mode, and any required upscaling technology.
Until those details appear, the responsible answer remains limited but clear: GTA 6 has confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X|S support, no official PC requirements, and no confirmed PC release date. The console specification provides context for the generation being targeted, not a guaranteed Windows parts list.
